Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

While doing a stopover in Mount Gambier we thought we would try Metro Bakery and Cafe. Cafe was busy but offered a seat on arrival. Good service, great atmosphere wait time 45 minutes for 1 chicken panini and a Ruben on rye plus 2 coffees....For $17 & $18 we expected something a bit bigger. The rolls were about 18cm by 8cm. Why are places so stingy?More

Most reviews of Metro Bakery are positive, but unfortunately ours was not. We had half an hour to take lunch before a film show about local volcanic history commenced at the art gallery across the road. We ordered and paid for two sandwiches from the...menu and a pot of tea. After twenty minutes our food had not been delivered to our table. An enquiry at the counter, when we told them of our time limit, elicited an assurance that it was on its way. Five minutes later we were told that the food would be delivered to us as a takeaway. Five minutes later it had still not been delivered to us and we then left so that we did not miss the film. It was galling that by this time customers who arrived after us had been served with the hot food which they had ordered. No refund, naturally. The only positive was the prompt service of the pot of tea courtesy of the efficient and personable Logan, who also chased up our sandwiches (unfortunately without success).More

The service was great. The girl behind the girl was very helpful, good coffee & the place itself had a great feel about it. I ordered the BLT panini and don’t get me wrong it was delicious, but I could have eaten about 3. The...price was $15 and it took me 3 bites and it was gone. I walked out hungry and I was not happy!!! I expected a loaded BLT. This was flat as a pancake and it would have sufficed for a child only. I should have taken a photo. Disappointed!!More

My husband and I had really delicious dinner at this lovely bakery cafe! We really enjoyed our Greek salad, authentic wood-fired pizza and the excellent bread that came with the eggplant parmigiana. Mt Gambier is lucky to have a cafe that is open from breakfast...to dinner. No wonder it's so popular!!More

The venue appears confused as to its own identity. Bar, bakery, cafe, nightclub, restaurant? Ordered the breakfast gnocchi with pancetta, but unfortunately it was swimming in oil. Staff were not attentive and somewhat inconvenienced by a question. Coffee was the saviour.

Our first time visiting this bakery café. It was packed with locals and others all attracted to the range of baked goods, the selection of cakes, pastries and savoury food plus excellent coffee. We arrived not long before closing but the staff were welcoming. I really enjoy my vegan lentil soup. The hubby had a pie which was lovely and rich with flake pastry. The decor was great with the metal art.
