Friday dinner with friends

Booked for 4 people at 6.30 and were warned 35 people had booked at that time and may be a wait for our food. We were happy with that. Very busy when we arrived bu5 were served in reasonable time with good friendly staff. All enjoyed our meals at reasonable prices and wine list acceptable and relatively cheap compared to wine prices at similar restaurants. We will be back. Room was quite noisy and a little difficult to hear our conversation.

Fantastic Flavours.

Fantastic Flavours. We visited Wild Ginger on Friday night the ambience was fantastic on arrival, we had booked a table and our name was clearly visible as we passed the table.The restaurant was full maybe 60 people. We ordered a Beef Hot Pot and a Green Chicken Curry. Dishes were out in 15 minutes both were full of flavour and the meat very tender, the beef pieces were large and fell apart as they were so tender. Great Food .

Try the fish curry

I'm not particularly fond of fish curry but tried a crispy barramundi with a Penang curry sauce and it was delicious. The Beef Massaman curry was cleverly presented although not quite as spicy as I like. The staff were pleasant and helpful and overall, we were very impressed with the quality of the food and the experience.

Not very authentic Thai food!

Not very authentic Thai food in our opinion. The starters we OK, we had satay and fish cakes. The main course dishes were very disappointing. The red beef curry tasted like heated up sauce with pre cooked cubes of beef, the beef did not taste like it had been infused with any flavours. The Phad Thai had five lovely prawns, however the noodles and bean sprouts were very stodgy, the flavour wasn’t too bad, but it was served with lemon instead of lime. I asked for some limes but they said that they didn’t have any in the kitchen… lime is a key basic ingredient in Thai cooking! The restaurant itself was nice and the staff were pleasant.

Great Regional Thai

Quite often regional areas tend to lack in quality authentic cuisine. However this is not the case at Wild Ginger. Great Thai food done right, authentic and big sized meals guaranteed to both fill you up and sate your quest for flavour. Restaurant shows a cheerful, fun filled atmosphere and it is evident that the place is popular with locals. The wine list, though small, showcases the region and the choice of some good Thai beer is sensational. Overall a pleasant evening is always on offer here.

Delicious Thai.

We were sightseeing in the area and needed a meal before we headed back to Robe. Wild Ginger gave us delicious Thai food with a local twist. Excellent service throughout even though it was busy.

Tasty Thai

This is a very popular restuarant in Mount Gambier - so arrive early to secure a table (or book ahead) to avoid disappointment. I had the Tom Yam prawn soup and the chef special Phad Char seafood. The meals are large, really flavoursome and good value. Highly recommend this Thai restaurant.

Lovely build up just to be let down

Dropped in for dinner based on the reviews. I found the atmosphere nice, the service was good, the guy who took our order was efficient. When our meals came, they looked appealing and presented well. I had the Massaman beef curry that look good, the portion size serve was quite adequate, and the sauce was lovely. Unfortunately, from there it was all downhill, the beef was very grislily, tough and defiantly not falling apart. I had to get a knife to cut it up, and removing lumps of grisaille from my mouth and returning to the plate was not a good look. It was a very poor cut of meat. If I was in Mt Gambier, I would go again, just wouldn’t order this dish again.

Not The Same

Quick trip to the Mount on business and popped in to Wild Ginger - last time I was here this place was closed. Change of ownership and nothing has changed. Well priced and generous meals and drinks - best in town for food and service - there was an issue with how one item was cooked - this was graciously resolved and item not charged - Thankyou and we’ll see you next time.

Sensational Thai in Mt Gambier. Seriously.

This food was as good as I have had anywhere in the world. Slightly different to Thailand but just a twist on Aussie Thai. Overall though delicious and we didn't leave a morsel I would recommend to anyone travelling to Mt Gambier of all places to find this.

Amazing food

As we can only comment on 2 main courses, both excellent. For her, Phad Si Yu, judged to be the best ever had. For him, Beef Rendang, a generous serve of a very flavoursome dish. Great attentive staff and prompt service. Couldn’t complain about anything!

Delicious food, good service and an easy dinner. After a trip to Thailand months ago, didn’t think I could ever eat Thai food again. But this was fresh, tasty and had some excellent options. Four of us went and everyone was really happy.

Outstanding food and service

Food was outstanding and extremely delicious and the staff friendly, service excellent They were busy but still made everyone welcome. I can’t understand why this restaurant has received a 5/5 rating. Would definitely come back again.

Best Thai in Mount Gambier, I love it. Great service even when busy, they have high quality of service and food. Great choices of dishes. I dine at this restaurant anytime I get the chance. Highly recommend!

Good Restaurant

Seven friends went for lunch at the restaurant recently. I had been there many years ago. Our group was very happy with the service and the food. Quite busy and the staff were virtually running, but done a great job.
