Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I will always say that you can’t reinvent the wheel! That is the problem here at this take away/ restaurant. A prominent character line Makris the Greek sells his business to eager new starts. It doesn’t always work. The yiros was the worst Adelaide yiros I have ever had. Chip fryers were caked and dirty too. Sorry but the whole place looked dirty and unkept with regards to dust even on the ceiling!

I wanted a change, so I asked for fish and chips, with some gravy for the chips. It was all fairly ordinary. I dined inside and it was almost too dark to see my food.

Yoris, crumbed prawns, calimari rings and chips. Idea for the odd occasions you need the feed of f&c

The shop has perhaps Indian owners. They do not know anything about the passion of Greek cooking. The oil is bland the chips have no salt or vinegar. The calamari was so bad a 10 year old threw it in the bin. It is a shame that Makis is gone and sold it to the wrong people. Don't waste your time or money. Such a shame it was a great place once. Just like magic mountain had its time the same goes for this aweful food. Time to close and they didn't even put vinegar on the chips. They had NO lemon 🍋 nothing Greek about this place anymore. Such a shame.

Stopped in here for a quick snack. I order 3 potato cakes and they were the worst I have ever eaten. They were so greasy and had been obviously cooked in very old oil and you could taste it. We felt quite sick after eating them. Don't eat here.

DIARRHOEA 15 Minutes after eating some of a disgusting yiros combo, first time visiting Glenelg SA.
Had to go home soon after and was sick for the rest of the day.
Filthy, Dirty, Disgusting stinking place.
Do not eat there.

New management from the looks of things and the heritage associated with the venue has disappeared.
Good Greek food comes with the family tradition.
Certainly no longer worth the money

What has happened to this once great place. The yiros used to be fantastic. Im sure it has new owners as the greek guys who have been there forever dont seem to be around anymore....or at least i never saw them. Lamb yiros very bland had a strange taste. The garlic sauce very average and the chilli sauce was not very hot. Not sure i would return after this disaster....

We went to Makis to get some fish and chips to take down to eat at Glenelg beach. They were some of the best fish and chips I have had in awhile.

Standard yiros was $13 which seems a bit much but this is Jetty Rd after all. Food was nice, fitout was ok though a little run down. Nothing terrible and I'd come here again if I was after a yiros, but nothing outstanding either.

I only gave it a score of 1 because it wouldn’t let me rate lower! Very misleading when sign says “voted best Yiros for 30yrs” how can this be with new owner! A big disappointment...
