Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Overpriced and unorganised. $30 substandard greasy unappetising pizza. Schooners at $12.50 and menu advertised beer not available. Frozen lines so unable to supply beer selection. Doubt I’ll be back. Doubt it will be around in 12 months time.

Horrible service, mediocre food. Staff more interested in watching movies on their personal computers at the entrance than serving customers. Bar staff would do extremely well working for Karen’s diner…only at Karen’s diner, you still have to work & customers pay for a bad experience....There are a lot of other places in the area with a similar or higher standard of food, your custom is welcome and you have a clean environment to eat in . Unfortunately, the lack of care and lazy work ethic of staff members is causing this establishment to go downhill fast. My third visit and I won’t be going back.More

Went to Monty’s for lunch on Saturday. The place is clean and the staff are all great. I like a run of the mill lager. I don’t like any of their beers. They have a dangerous lemonade which tastes like pub squash but alcoholic. It’s...great. The cider is too tart and not easy drinking like a sweet cider. The food was good. The kids fish and chips is actually real fish with real crispy batter which is awesome to see. The adults fish and chips was equally good just bigger serves. The chicken wings were crispy. The only thing to make them better would be to use a pressure fryer and most places can’t do that so it’s great. The ribs were fall off the bone but it just needs a great bbq sauce glaze on the top and under the grill to add some colour. It came out of the slow cooker and drizzled with watery juice. No flavour at all. The hardest part of ribs if getting them to fall off the bone. The absolute easiest thing is costing with a rich bbq sauce at the end (even if you forget the grilling for colour) just a good sauce makes ribs. But instead the watery slow cooker broth is poured over the top and then the chips soak it all up. The chips here are perfect with a delicious seasoning. Then pour over the broth it ruined them but if it had been a rich bbq sauce it would have been heaven and this would have been 5*s all the way. Worth a visit and worth going back but steer clear of the ribs.More

The beers are OK but there's a window from 11-11:30 where there is no food and the food menu is pretty limited. Beers are very expensive, around $12.50 per schooner compared to $7-8 for craftys on tap in town. For some odd reason you have...to order food at a different register than drinks. I had pork bites and quite a few of them tasted like they'd been revived from yesterday. Overall I was pretty disappointed other than the view.More

Had my 40th here last night and could not fault them. The service was some of the best I’ve ever had. The owner even came by and checked how things were and took the time to explain his vision and a little about what they...do. A huge thumbs up 👍More

Food was good, beers and drinks were good, attitude from staff was not. Lacking in atmosphere - we were really disappointed with the night.

We have been sooo looking forward to Montys opening. What a huge disappointment. The girl behind the bar wasn't just abrupt she was downright rude. The beer was just average and expensive, 2 beers and a cider $41. The hospitality staff were lovely and the...small pizza $28, and plate of chips, $12 was very nice. Of course the view was lovely but it will not enough to bring us back from the Sunshine Coast anytime soon.More

I visited here in the lead up to Christmas with my mother. It was busy but we were not disappointed. The sourdough as a starter was great. The sourdough comes from a local Toowoomba bakery and was served with delicious whipped garlic butter. We shared...a charcoal pit chicken salad which was a great serving size for sharing. The flavours were amazing. To finish the basque cheesecake was delicious. The view of the valley is great and for a warm day the breeze made it perfect. The hard lemonade was very refreshing for a summer day. Look forward to visiting again soon.More

To start the venue is amazing and those views are worth the prices alone. I ordered the pumpkin hummus first and it was delicious. Those flatbreads and the hint of garlic was yummy 🤤 Next I ordered the Mort & Co Wagyu Sirloin and for...$55 it was worth every cent. The steak melted in my mouth and the smokey flavour from the charcoal grill is cut beautifully by the Chimichurri sauce. Overall it was a great day out with friends. Looking forward to visiting again soon.More

We visited Monty Brewing over the Christmas period. The Wait staff seemed disinterested, the food (with the exception of the chips) was overpriced pub grub at best and in such a competitive market the beer was nothing special. If you plan on visiting and ordering...a glass of wine, grab a coaster and cover your glass…there are a lot of flies about and speaking from experience, if one happens to land in your glass, your wine will not be replaced. In fact, the owner, Nathan, abruptly announced that they do not hand out free wine. He did however offer to remove the fly! 🤔More

Monty’s is the best place ever! All the staff were super friendly and inviting. A couple of my friends and I went, we had the wings, octopus and charcoal pit chicken. Even though the food was a little on the expensive side, it was 100%...worth it! There were a lot of Christmas parties going on with a whole bunch of food. When I came to order, I was told I had to wait an hour for food, but I got it within 15 minutes! I promised myself earlier that I wouldn’t have too many drinks but they were so good that I had to have more. I tried every single cocktail and all of them were absolutely flawless. I would definitely my work’s Christmas Party next year! And their Christmas Tree is so creative, it’s made out of kegs! There is so much room to sit; inside, outside and on the verandah. I definitely recommend!More

I'll start by saying I am not very hard to please at all but unfortunately I wasn't impressed by this place I'd been really excited to try and neither were the 3 others I was with.... It was very busy and obviously quite a few...Christmas parties happening but we still managed to find a table easily. The view out over the range is really lovely. The wait staff were mainly quite young and were obviously very inexperienced. They were not friendly and were abrupt and seemed very uninterested about being there. The tall older bald man with tattoos was lovely and friendly though and made us actually feel welcome. Two of our mains came out before our starters, then one more main and the fourth main last. Two pizzas and two burgers - pizzas really nice, burgers really average and I think for $25 they should be much better than average. I'm not a beer drinker but the beers my friends tried were OK but probably not good enough to have a second. Now for the other drinks.. My husband had an alcoholic lemonade which had absolutely no flavour whatsoever and he may as well have had a glass of water. My friend had the Hubba Bubba which again had very, very small hint of flavour. I wanted to try a cocktail. No prices on the cocktail list but I know the average price of a cocktail these days so just went ahead and ordered the Monty's Signature cocktail which was (I think) gin and vodka based. It looked pretty as it seemed to have glitter in it but at $27 and for it to taste like Cottee's raspberry cordial, I was both stunned and disappointed!! The guy behind the bar explained that there were lots of ingredients that are very hard to source but considering there were only I think 5 ingredients, it doesn't really make sense. This place has real potential but there is no vibe and I'm really sad that because we had such a disappointing experience, we won't go back.More

There were 8 of us there at lunch time on Sunday. Tables all full but didn’t take us long to get one. The place was packed. When we ordered our lunch we were informed of a wait. You could tell that by the amount of...dockets lined up. The service was exceptional, everyone working so hard, and still lovely and friendly, The food was delicious, very big serves, good beer and great coffeeMore

Great beer and priced much the same as the other micro brewery’s in the Toowoomba area but for me and the other 3 in my group was the price and quantity of the food. $28 for 3 small portions of battered fish and a cup...full of shoestring chips. Basically I would consider it a $10 kids meal. Our friends had a $20 + pizza with a few blobs of cheese and about 4 slices of salami on it, they were very disappointed. We also waited over an hour for our meal. We won’t be making a return visit.More
