I had no idea this hidden gem was outside Toowoomba, and was very impressed with an afternoon spent sitting on the lawn, with sensational grazing platters and jugs of refreshing drinks. Imagine Pimms Jugs but with a difference. It’s a really relaxed setting and perfect in the late afternoon. I’ll definitely book in for a meal time next visit.

Rosalie House is a lovely spot for a Sunday lunch. The menu is varied, if a bit overpriced. The loaded homus and the Mushroom sides are to die for. Service could be improved. We booked our table for 1.30pm, when we arrived we were given our menus and told we needed to make decisions quickly as the kitchen stops cooking at 2pm. This was fine, but no one came back to take an order from us for 20 minutes. The meals were great, but would have been much better to have some salt and pepper to add to them. The service staff rarely came to our table to check if we needed anything, so could not request some salt and pepper. We also would have loved another glass of wine, but again, no one came near us. We then were given our dessert menu and again had to wait more than 20 minutes for someone to return and take our order. Maybe train staff to be more attentive of diners needs.

This place gets such rave reviews that I keep going back hoping each time it will be as good as others say it is. The service again was poor. My friend (up from the Sunshine Coast) asked if we could try two of the wines before we decided between the two as we were buying a bottle. The waitress bought out two small port glasses, one of each. Ummmm, in these COVID times we were astounded that we had to ask for two each as we didn’t want to share a glass! The meal took a good 30mins but we weren’t in a rush. My friend had the steak and it was amazing. I got to try a bit too. But was accompanied by this strange pile of green stuff described as seasonal vegetables. She thought it must have been Brussel sprouts as she said the taste was not pleasant. I have the pork belly which tasted as if it was reheated. Tough and dry. I couldn’t finish it. The wines are lovely and the view and atmosphere was nice. If it wasn’t for the well cooked, full of flavour steak, the score would have been much lower.

Have been here for breakfast numerous times and has always been amazing. Decided to go here to celebrate a birthday dinner with family. They had 4 choices of main meals with 1 of them being unavailable at 7pm on a Friday, not a huge deal. But 2 of us chose the 400g sirloin steaks and they were absolutely terrible. Both were extremely tough, and overcooked (ordered medium and medium rare) but came out medium and well done). If it wasn't priced as high as it was I wouldn't have bothered eating it. The other at our table only ate half due to it being so tough. We would have sent it back to the kitchen but considering both meals were tough, they probably all were and just a cheap meat or maybe/hopefully a bad batch. We decided to skip dessert as we didn't want to be disappointed again. If you go here, expect a 1.5hr wait for food and definitely don't order steak unless you want to get home feeling disappointed!

My partner and I decided to splurge and treat ourselves to a romantic dinner out at Rosalie House. We sat outside and could see the most amazing electrical storm lighting up thy night sky in the distance. There was also a large birthday party gathering with a musician singing so beautifully so many familiar songs. Lovely ambience and the wine was quite nice. Sadly that's where the compliments stop. Ambience is so important when dining out but if the meal is sadly lacking and expensive you walk away disappointed. We both ordered steak and at $45 each we expected it would be cooked to perfection. Both our meals were overcooked and disappointing. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she told us the chef was used to cooking thicker steaks and these steaks aren't as thick!!! She returned later to say the chef was sorry. For $90 I think more than a second hand sorry would have been appropriate. Looking back at previous disappointing reviews in regards to their steak, the chef should maybe reconsider his menu choices. If you can't cook steak well don't have it on the menu and at $45 a plate diners will expect a medium steak to be cooked appropriately. We ordered dessert which was also a mistake and very mediocre after a disappointing main course. Really just not up to the price tag they are asking and I certainly wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

it has a beautiful views of the mountain, the staff member who serve us was friendly, was disappointed with the meal. The steak was very expensive but it was suppose to be rib eye but it was so tough. There was no social distance between the tables, when we said something to the owner she was very rude and unfriendly.. will not be returning again

A group of 4 of us each had a version of the 2 gnocchi available. The gnocchi served was a small portion and completely tasteless. The gnocchi cost $35. We asked for pepper to add some seasoning but were advised that they couldn't do that because of covid. After a discussion we were given a bowl of pepper with one teaspoon to share amongst us! Service was poor and slow. After giving us the dessert menu they did not return to see if anybody wanted to order. We went to a supermarket on the way home to buy a dessert!

Really enjoyed our trip out from Toowoomba to Rosalie house for a Sunday brunch. The setting, among vines with a lovely garden and country views, is just gorgeous. We sat on the veranda- there is also the option to be in the gardens, but as it was a hot morning, I’m glad we had the inside area. Service was friendly and we didn’t wait long until we were presented with a fantastic array of meats, terrine, cheese, breads, olives and dips with our ploughmans board. The dukkah was particularly lovely. Great flavours and excellent value for money. It certainly set us up for the day of sightseeing. Lovely pot of tea for me, husband said his coffee was very good also. The is also a cellar door for wines they produce, which we didn’t try. If in the area, I recommend a visit.

This restaurant was praised by a number of people we know, but our experience was surprisingly not up to the praise. This was a lunch. Very pleasant location and the verandah has flyscreens all round, but flies pestered us throughout our whole meal, to the extent one decided to take a swim in one of our glasses of wine ($55 for a bottle) which the waitress took away and brought back an EMPTY glass. The table tops were sticky, and the food - every dish was swimming in sauce so the flavour of the vegetables and meat could not be tasted through the abundance of sauce, and excess salt - one wants to taste the prime flavour of the meal not the sauce to hide the quality or lack of. For the premium price of the meals and wine, this was not permium value. As for the wait staff - lessons in table service and customer relations is seriously needed.

What a lovely setting in amongst the grape vines. The staff were attentive and the menu was wide enough to have me grasping at options. We had the prawns with the papaya salad as one starter. My only suggestion would be to add an Asian tang to the salad, if just lacked a little flavour. The scallops and cauliflower purée was larger than expected and very very tasty. The scallops were super fresh considering we are 150km from the coast. Mains were the pork belly that was ample and tasty and the duck legs in mandarin sauce. Both were very tasty and well presented. We had a side of sautéed mushrooms which was huge and only slightly under seasoned…. But I would have again. It’s taken me 18 months to get here, but I will be back sooner rather than later.

Came for the locals special Tandoori lamb. The menu sounded amazing. It was bland, tiny and flavourless. One micro bowl of boiled rice. 4 tiny pieces of flavourless lamb. A small salad. That’s was fir Teo! $60 for 50 grams of bland unseasoned lamb and a micro serve of boiled rice. Absolute disappointment! Note I have been here before and heen delighted with the food. This time however was a miss.

I’d heard so much great buzz about this place, that I was a bit disappointed. We went at 3pm on a Saturday. It was extremely noisy. So much so, that we couldn’t hear ourselves speak. It had a pub feel. Not the high end, quaint experience that the high prices expect. Service was average. Once seated and served, not a staff member in sight for an hour and a half. The wines were amazing (Robert Channon is a legend!) We ordered a cheese board. We ran out of “crackers” half way through. These were home made and the salt on them totally overpowered all of the cheeses. Not pleasant at all. Would have rather just plain crackers. We ended up just eating the cheese by itself as no one came to check on us the whole time we were there. Also my companion wanted to try a red halfway through and again, no one to serve us. We ended up having to go to the bar to ask for the bill. We’ll give it another go, but I really hope this was a one off experience.

Venturing out of Toowoomba to Rosalie House. Lilydale for lunch was not disappointed. The service from arrival to departure was exceptional and then the food and beverages. Great selections on the lunchtime menu for entree and main not too many but the meals were superb and all diners in party all commented on how beautiful and tasty the food was and plenty of it. Even though cold and wet outside the heaters were on and very cosy. When in the Toowoomba region do yourself and your taste buds a favour and head to Rosalie House you will not be disappointed

As a local my previous experiences at Rosalie house have been positive however this time was unfortunately extremely disappointing. Upon arrival at our booking time we were advised our table was not ready and we were left waiting for this to be set up. When we went to be seated I was advised I couldnt seat my young child at the end of the table as he would be in the way of other patrons in the opposing table. Despite that table remaining empty our entire visit. The kids pasta was not what was advertised on the kids menu (completely different dish). I asked for a tray for the high chair and was rudely told i couldnt have one as they were in high demand that day. Then when asked if i could have a placemat or something to put in the table for my son, i was given a tea towel. The overall attitude of the staff member i was dealing with was extremely poor the entire visit. Will definitely think twice about coming back and will no longer be recommending to family & friends.
