We had the 3 course dinner option which allowed you to choose from the entire dinner menu which was fantastic value. The meal portions were quite generous and very prompt in getting on the table. Overall atmosphere was very inviting and had a relaxing ambiance. All service we received from the staff was excellent, once again Fusion 128 has delivered a great dinner experience for us, we will of course be back.

Nice restaurant, really good layout and I enjoyed the life music. Arrived after a 750 Kms drive so just wanted a quick meal and back to the hotel for a shower Just ordered two steaks and was very pleased with them. Coming from London was reasonably priced and good service

Weekday Celebratory Dinner

We visited Fusion128 for a weekday dinner to celebrate a special occasion, and were not let down! Beautiful 3 course meal in a semi-private setting provided a great 'fine dining' experience for us. Not many restaurants in Mackay are open during the early week nights, so we chose Fusion128 for the ambience, and selection of food to complement the special occasion for us. When we arrived, the soft lighting and the little messages posted along the walls from the Christian bible helped create a very inviting and homely atmosphere. This is quite unique against many other fine dining restaurants, which are more formal in setting with the decor and art type typically used. We were greeted by the wait staff quite promptly who requested we do the compulsory check ins (for COVID safe), before being shown to our table. Ordered our entree - the smokey bbq glazed wings which was a treat, well marinated and not too dry and not overtly moist, we thought just right! 😁 Mains we tried the in house Korean ramen and steak dish, and a pan fried velvet chicken dish. Both came out within 15mins, hot and delicious. Try the creamy mushroom sauce with the chicken as we thought the sesame taste in the sauce and the vegetables made it that much more tasty! I also had requested for the mild Korean ramen which was a good choice, still had a bit of a spicy kick to it but mild enough to be able to enjoy the meal without needing to be reaching for water. The meals were filling, as we both did not have much room left for dessert after. From the recommendation of the staff, we tried the Tiramisu and the Portuguese Egg Tart. Both of which was a great final touch to end the meals. The Egg Tart came out hot with the slightly gooey centre encased in a puff pastry, coupled with a scoop of macadamia icecream. The Tiramisu was layered with a top dusting of chocolate powder on whipped cream. Not too sweet which was good for us. The owner also paid each table a visit throughout the course of the evening and entertained with some table top magic tricks, and a friendly chat. Polite and not invasive. I also noticed another wait staff having a laugh with another table that had a small toddler. Could see that guests dining in the restaurants were happy, and enjoying their meals. Overall satisfied with our celebratory dinner and service provided by Fusion128! Would come again next occasion.

Disgraceful

If I could give this place a zero I would. We had a terrible experience here a year ago and thought we would give it another shot since it’s meant to be one of the best places in Mackay. Came here ready to spend couple hounded dollars on some fancy fine food but instead the menu on the website is not the menu they are using now so don’t be fooled. New menu akin to some rubbish pub food. Walked in and was served by a girl who absolutely stank like she just came out of a room after smoking a full packet of cigarets. Disgusting. Ordered entree ciabatta bread with house made dips and this is what we got served. Some oil, a couple of full raw cloves of garlic, a cherry tomato, some sun dried god knows what and some garnish. You expect people to pay 23 dollars for raw garlic gloves? When we questioned David he proclaimed that he didn’t know what it was as it’s a new menu first time tonight. I felt like I was on an episode of border security when the asians pretend they didn’t know they had a suitcase full of illegal food. David you may be able to get away with treating people like idiots by pretending you are an idiot but we are not idiots. You know dam well what your menu is and the response that you gave us is unacceptable and tells me that you shouldn’t be in the industry. Time to pack up your things and shut up shop you are the worst front of house/owner I have ever met in my life. Wake up to yourself.

Food review

Food was really nice can't fault food but customer service was very ordinary plenty of staff on but kept walking past table waited over 20mins before they noticed drink empty . Cocktails were horrible easily worst I've tasted or seen for that matter not even in a cocktail glass and no actual garnishes to make even look like a cocktail. Mains came out 40 seconds after we had finished entree. Probably won't be back 👎

Over priced terrible food

This is our second time trying fusion. We actually had a very hit and miss dinner the first time we came here, but thought we would give it another go. We had the lamb backstrap at $41. The crumb fell off of the overcooked lamb, and the flavour was terrible, it actually tastes like old meat, it had a strange sour taste to it. We also ordered the short ribs. They were nothing special and the side salad was 1 Cherry tomato cut in half and two lettuce leaves. We also tried the desserts which were very over priced. $15 for a brownie and ice cream...the ice cream was only about a tablespoon and the brownie was tiny. We also ordered the lava cake, it was ordinary and didn't ooze chocolate like a lava cake should, it was a very bland chocolate cake. I dont mind paying money for good food but this place was below average. Only good thing I can say is they had our meals to the table very quickly. I complained about the lamb and received a voucher to "try it again" only the voucher was for $30 not $41.

Very Disappointed with Fusion 128

This was not the first time that my partner and I have been disappointed by Fusion 128. The first time we came here we had the most incredible experience and were excited to return. We certainly always thought the food was expensive how ever at the time thought the meals were worth it. This unfortunately has changed. And we will never be returning. The last time we went our friend found plastic in their food and were later told it was due to our food being warmed up in plastic containers and the edge of the plastic broke into the food. My lamb shank was chewy as though it had been warmed up which it probably was. The meals had massively shrunk in size since our last visit. We decided to give it another go and my Friends and I went to Fusion again last night. Once again were greatly disappointed. The cauliflower entree was 3 small pieces yet $17, the mains were so small my friends were still hungry after. I ordered kilpatric oysters that had too much sauce, and no bacon. And the best part the lava cake dessert. The dessert cost $17 and came out I cut it open, no lava.. it was literally a dry cake. The owner did try to partially resolve the situation by removing the charge for the cauliflower entree off my friends bill. How ever, I was the most dissatisfied. This is so very sad, as it used to be such a nice place to go for a fancy dinner. But I will never waste my money ever again, nor will any of my friends or family that had previously dined there before.

We were really looking forward to this after reading all the reviews, but poorly trained staff and underwhelming food made this experience disappointing. The pork belly entree was well undercooked, the wagu was tough and gristly, however the lamb shank was perfect. Some side vegetables were luke-warm. Our Mains were brought out literally a minute after entrees finished so no chance to have a drink or conversation. Waitress then started taking mains dishes from the table as others on our table were still finishing meals, hovering and leaning over guests still eating. We felt rushed and awkward. Tiramisu is literally chocolate cake in a glass. Based on this experience we would not recommend it.

WOULD WE GO THERE AGAIN?

Glowing reports on how fabulous this restaurant is, prompted us to try it for our wedding anniversary. Would we go there again, I think not. Service: Unfortunately the service was not great. Our waitress had no knowledge of the menu. Eg. Is the barramundi fresh? I think so. Are you sure? Hum yes it is. How is it cooked, noticed that macadamia broth is mentioned on the menu? I will have to check with the kitchen. And so on. We asked for champagne glasses, and were given wine glasses. There is a big difference in glass types and eventually she provided the correct glass. We were told they were short staffed. Food: Entrees: We ordered entrees which came promptly and were plated beautifully and they tasted fantastic, so a big tick there but that is where it ends Entree plates were whisked away and replaced immediately with our mains, Mains: Panko Chicken and Korean Steak (which our waitress had no idea of what this was). Will give a tick for the fresh vegetables accompanied with the chicken but the chicken was dry and burnt. If I was a chef I would not let a meal like that leave the kitchen. I don’t like to say this be Kentucky fried chicken would have been better. The Korean Steak was OK. To the restaurant owner’s credit, he did not charge for the Panko Chicken. Desserts: Cream Brûlée lacked the crunch and a simple order of macadamia ice cream (2 scoops) came out with with one scoop of vanilla ice cream, swimming in chocolate sauce. The mistake was immediately picked up by the owner who immediately remedied and bought out the correct dessert. Timing: More like a fast food restaurant. We arrived at 6.30 and were all done and dusted by 7.30. Not our idea of a romantic dinner. Ambience: The restaurant was nicely decked out, with a full bar and a good atmosphere. The owner coming around to each table and playing a dice game with patrons, a nice touch. Prices: $$ to $$$ - one can view the menu online. Drinks - are up there price wise. Judge for yourself. Unfortunately, I think we just picked the wrong night.

Impeccable service. Delicious

Impeccable service. Delicious food and hospitality. Would recommend for anything from dinner parties to business meetings. We had 10 guests for dinner and the staff were highly attentive to ensure all the guests were served as they filtered in. Most guests had 3 courses and all meals were highly recommended. Fusion 128’s cuisine of East meets West is very unique to the Whitsunday region. There’s something on the menu for everyone.

First experience at Fusion.

First experience at Fusion. Booked a table for 5:30, had been served our drinks by 5:45. Beautiful cocktails! Entrees of oysters and mozzarella sticks absolutely beautiful, fantastically presented. As for the mains steak and Panko chicken cooked to absolute perfection, best chicken I have ever had. Service was exceptional we were out by 6:30 full to our stomach, absolute incredible experience! Very pleasant to be welcomed by such a humble owner and staff!

Overpriced pub food.

I have been dining here for years but the food and service has deteriorated to the point I’m not sure I will be returning. I ordered a steak rare with mushroom sauce .. it turned up medium surrounded by packet style veggies and mashed potato that was like a rock and could be picked up in its entirety using the point of a knife. The sauce was like water and clearly packet also. The waiter reached right across me and my oysters... no apology... clearly no training... the owner simply brought out some chips to try to appease us (all meals were poor) and then said he was heading home for the night.

Best restaurant by far in town

Excellent food and drinks, very nice and friendly service, and the owner has some impressive magic tricks at the end of the meal. We had oysters, chicken, barramundi, salmon, and laksa: everything was well done, elegantly served and delicious. Deserts were also very nice

So disappointed

Been here before and had great food and service. Not tonight! Took a while to be offered a drink after being seated. Ordered a bottle of wine which was later delivered to the table unopened. Had to open and pour ourselves. Little later asked if we had ordered food which again lacking service. Entrees arrived. Near raw scallops. Mozzarella sticks were like kids cheese sticks in crumbs. We still had a mouthful of entree when plates removed and then mains immediately placed in front of us. Obviously just trying to move tables quickly. Lamb backstrap was like a deep dried crumbed square block of something. Had to ask if it was the lamb! Veges tasted like frozen vege. Mashed potato resembled instant potato. Very bland meals. Curries were tasty but naan bread look like commercial naan out of a packet. Not once were we asked how our meal was. Expressed our disappointment with meals and service at end of night and offered a discount. Still expensive night for very basic food and substandard service.

Magic meal

Interesting menu, variety of options, from steak to curry to risotto. We chose lamb with vegetables and Thai coconut chicken curry, generous portions and attentive service. Wine list is limited but covers most tastes. We were delightfully entertained by David (Copperfield) Ting who performed magic tricks at our table right under our eyes that we could not work out. He is very talented and charming. An unexpectedly entertaining evening accompanied by delicious food.
