Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dine here every four months or so family or friends . Staff friendly but you order off a tablet. Easy to use despite being impersonal. Good beers and umeshu. Food always competent to very good.

The gyoza were ok, a creative combination of unconventional ingredients. Not a fan of the iPad gimmick used for ordering.

Harajuku Gyoza exceeded our expectations with its friendly staff and great food. We were given an iPad and we could order through it and we thought that it was a very quick and easy way to order. Food and beer were great!

My husband and I were after some quality takeaway dumplings for dinner and ordered from here based on reviews. We were not disappointed! I thought that, being a chain, it would be nice but nothing special. The dumplings, however, were delicious and the teriyaki chicken...was just as nice. We also didn’t wait long at all for service and were served the dumplings promptly. 100% recommend.More

They had a special on the Monday night, so we thought we would give it a go. Great decision, they kids loved it! It was easy to order from the app, and the food was fast fresh and tasty. We loved it so much, we...went back on the Wednesday night for the 50c wings!More

An interesting Japanese place serving largely beer snacks Izakaya style, with their own micro-brewed beer (though I think most brewing is done in Sydney). The food was good, service attentive (though I ordered using an app). They told me at 7:45pm the kitchen was closing...at 8pm resulting in a limited menu after that - not a problem for me, but other guests were quite surprised to find this. If you want to go, go earlier in the night.More

We have been a few times to another harajuku gyoza and have always enjoyed the interactive staff experience. We made a booking for two for 6pm and we were seated and directed to order our food on our phones. The QR code then expected you...to enter you credit card details before you could place your order. After checking with staff if this was correct, they confirmed it was. We got up and left at this point as we could have done the same thing from home and had it delivered via Uber eats. We ended up going to the loose Moose, who seated us and told us all about their table service and to let them know if there was anything we needed. When you lose the atmosphere you lose customersMore

Very tasty and unique choice of dumplings. However, we found it a little overpriced for the number of dumplings on the plate. The venue now requests you order via an app which is OK but with only two staff on how do you ask a...question about specials or the menu?More

Firstly, I like to be handed a menu when I sit down to eat. Call me old fashioned. If it has to be high tech than supply a tablet. Don't ask me to scan a QR code using my personal phone to assist your business...model. In fact this process was not even explained to us after taking our (high up wooden) seats. This we had to work it out ourselves by noticing the little sign standing at one end of the high table. So, after scanning the code you are directed to their website and must order as if for a pizza delivery. Then its the 'go to cart' to complete your order thing. You are then expected to pay via a couple of options once there. This is where we stopped. I waved to one of the waitresses and after a while when pausing in their chat one noticed and came over. She then proceeded to explain the system, which I might add was so slow in loading images of the food it reminded me of the dial up days. I explained that I didn't need it explained, just wanted a menu if that was ok. Our son was shouting us and he was paying in cash, so ordering and paying individually via the webpage was out. She then went off and returned with a small tablet to take our order but made it fairly clear that this was not really the way. To be clear I don't mind tech, I work with it, but some things like eating out in restaurants I think are better when customers are offered a more traditional option, and not just left to sit there until they work it out. Millennials no doubt will take a different view. The food was average, but to be fair we did order the chicken curry dishes as opposed to their signature gyoza options, which in hind sight is what we should have ordered. The curry was a little salty and the dish was 2 thirds rice. For $16 I didn't think it particularly good value. And then we were charged $13 for the 3 small plastic cups of green tea. Would we go back? Not likely. We might have, if just to try the gyoza, but we were feeling somewhat annoyed about the extravagant charge for the hot water with a pinch of leaves. As a comparison, normally for Japanese food we would head to Top Noodle in Coolangatta. The curry chicken is definitely better (I recommend the spicy chicken), there's more variety, you get handed a proper menu, the seating is far more comfortable and the green tea is complementary. I would guess that this is why Top Noodle are always busy.More

Over-Priced and Underwhelming! Food was mediocre and prices outrageous. $22 for a glass of their ‘house red’. Seriously? We are trying to support local business but certainly won’t be back. #harajukugyoza #dontripoffthelocals

Loved our evening at Harajuku Gyoza. Dumplings were super fresh. Adored the tempura eggplant, so delicious. Chicken Karaage was succulent and tasty. Enjoy my evening with a bestie, sat outside on a cold rainy night due to Covid restrictions at the time but was still...cozy and staff were attentive. Really good Japanese food and my friends cider looked amazing.More
