We stumbled upon Bellakai on our first day in Coolangatta. The coffee and scones were delicious but it was the lovely service we received from all the staff that was a standout. With so few hospitality venues encouraging any sort of interaction with customers (many still using Covid restrictions as an excuse to use contactless transactions) it was such a welcome surprise to be offered full table service by really lovely obliging waitstaff. We were so impressed that we didn’t bother trying any of the other myriad of cafes along Marine Parade when heading out for breakfast the next morning. We certainly weren’t disappointed - the very tasty zucchini & corn fritters were beautifully presented and again, we couldn’t fault the coffee or the service we received. If you want to order from your phone, pay upfront and not speak to anyone, don’t bother going here but if you’re after great food and coffee with old-fashioned customer service, you won’t be disappointed!

A breakfast only restaurant, open from 6.00 am to 12 noon.
Very varied menu, with lots of options. On the first morning I tried the smoked salmon on avo, served on sour dough. All elements were of a very good quality. My husband had the traditional bacon and eggs, with mushrooms. Both the bacon and mushrooms that I ‘borrowed’ from his plate were well cooked and flavourful.
Coffee was excellent And they were happy to provide extra hot water with my tea, as I like it weak.
We were so impressed that we booked in for a couple of days later, when they didn’t disappoint. In particular, the poached eggs were perfectly cooked with not a trace of vinegar.
Nice staff too.

I had the pleasure of eating breakfast at Bellakai for 2 months straight. What a wonderful time I had! Food was amazing, specials changed regularly and I never saw the same one twice (bit of a shame because they were all really good). The staff were accommodating and friendly. They loved coming for a chat in quieter times, even the head chef came out to chat (mostly to throw banter at me). I'd happily recommend this place to anyone and if Im back in Cooly I know where I'll be going for a feed.

This is a lovely place over the road form the beach. There is inside and outside seating. They looked like they were understaffed with waiters and waitress' only allocated to one task. Drinks orders came quickly, it took a long time to order food, and it was an hour from the time that we arrived that we received our food. We had finished our drinks before our food order had even been taken. The food was lovely though, just a shame it took so long.

Two breakfasts - 22/5/21 and 23/5/21. Seated quickly with water and coffee arriving promptly. Very slow service for our food order to be taken.People at next door table were seated after us, order taken, delivered and eaten before our order was taken. I flagged a waitress down and asked “could we please order?” and was subjected to a long rant about how they always take great care to check when people arrive and take the orders accordingly and blah, blah, blah. Nothing like a good dressing down and chastisement from a waitress who was obviously oblivious to the prompt delivery of food to the lucky diners at the next table. This cafe/restaurant used to be sensational a couple of years back when it had a different owner. The only thing the same now is the name.☹️

Generally speaking Australian restaurants don't do service well. Bellakai is an exception. We were glad we had booked because it was busy before 9 on a Saturday morning. Located across the road from the beach there is indoor ad outdoor seating. It was good to see the tables wiped with sanitiser between sittings. We were given water while we checked the menu. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon and some tabasco sauce. One of our friends was interested in the garlic sausages from the specials menu but the specials on offer change every Saturday so they weren't on offer but the waitress said she would see if the kitchen would do them. They did. We also had a person celebrating their birthday and the staff were helpful in arranging a lit candle in a nutella croissant/muffin. In short nothing as too hard and the customer service was great. My Eggs Benedict was tasty and the sour dough was ideal to mop up any escapee hollandaise and tabasco. Well done folks.

I've never found a Caesar salad on the coast that I enjoy - they usually have too sweet of salad dressing. This one was different and was exactly what I've been looking for. With the beachfront view, makes for a good experience. Recommend sitting outside, it was too noisy to be seated inside the small restaurant.

We were recently over from NZ for 2 weeks and had breakfast at Bellakai on at least 5-6 occasions. Fantastic food , service and ambience , the young wait staff were a pleasure and easy to see they love ❤ working here. We first holidayed in Collongatta in the early 90s and can see why Bellakai has endured and continues to excel from then to today. Absolutely love this place.

Wow did I love my coffee. Vittoria.
I ordered Eggs Benedict with mushrooms. I enjoyed my meal but the hours afterwards was not so great for me. I felt weighed down by the meal and suspect it was too fatty.
Staff were good and it’s positioned well.

Wow! Amazing coffee
And food.
Hubby had salmon eggs Benedict and said it was the best he has ever had. I had scrambled eggs , soooo fluffy and tasted fantastic. Had bacon as well which was super tasty! We ordered an extra portion of bacon for my daughter who wasn’t that hungry but it didn’t turn up.
We mentioned it to the staff and they apologised profusely and asked if we had time to wait for it, which we did.
They gave it to us on the house! Old school customer service! Amazing! Yum yum

We had a group of 10 people for breakfast on our recent trip to Coolangatta. Couldn’t get in on our first morning but booked for the next day, so glad we did. The service was absolutely fantastic, the food even better. Our orders were taken shortly after arrival, water was provided without asking, and our food was all brought out at the same time. The staff were all dressed casually in their restaurant t-shirts, they never stopped working , but all looked so happy. Definitely visit here.

Love going to Bellakia to catch up with friends over coffee and a delicious breakfast or a yummy snack. Friendly service . Staff always have a smile. Often get takeaway coffee or hot chocolate - delicious !

We’ve now made this place our regular go to for weekend brekky. The special board never fails to have something a little different and yummy. This week I had the sautéed garlic sausage with spinach, poached egg, hollandaise and sour dough, it was amazing. The service is absolutely fabulous and it’s actually table service which is a rarity these days. Coffee s great, juices are fresh and fantastic, try the Virgin Mary, it’s delicious.

Booked for Father’s Day an outside table for x3 adults. With predicted rain the manager organised for seating inside. I have been to many cafés, restaurants and eateries and this establishment is one of the ‘best’ that I have encountered. The service from the manager and staff was so professional. The young Staff were cheerful, helpful and a pleasure to deal with and it wasn’t just with our table. The food was perfect. Good selection for meat and vegan customers. Service/Orders were insanely quick… and ‘no’ mistakes. A big congrats to manager Anna who greeted customers warmly and seemed to have a good handle/management of her Staff. To top it all off, we were given a Father’s Day Gift voucher for our next visit. I have NO qualms about the reasonable cost for the excellent food and service.
Well done Bellakai. I will be spreading the good word.

Breakfast was glorious, The fresh juice was very tasty and the glass was large.
Our table of four really enjoyed our breakfast. Short wait for our meal.
