Outstanding across the board

Outstanding service. We arrived earlier than expected from Sydney so sat on the outdoor setting near the restaurant. We were happy to wait until lunch service began. Instead a waiter appeared and offered the drinks menu while we sat outside. This was unexpected and greatly...appreciated. We got to begin our lunch experience before we stepped inside. Food outstanding - the tuna entree just perfection - I can still picture the deep red flesh and smoked soy smell. A beautiful start. Murray cod to follow which was also perfect. Vibrant green from the pea element. The sides were even impressive - crisp kale with soft fennel and potatoes with black garlic. Went with the whipped feta to finish - another complete winner. Creamy feta and crispy sage leaves and chips. So impressed with the entire meal. Lots of wine to pick from and a lot available in a half bottle carafe. This was a return visit and we will definitely be back when next in the Hunter. This is exactly what a weekend lunch away from Sydney should be.More

Not good

The menu is not understandable, I ordered duck parfait , not a duck leg but a pate ,which was an extremely strong tasting pate , which had raw egg yolk on top,with the thinnest airy wafers , that you couldn’t pick up without-evaporating let alone...be an accompaniment to pate . The main course was ok , I had fish . The desert was a tasteless cake , so bland with vanilla ice cream . All in all , not an enjoyable experience , at a high price expect better . Go to The Gates restaurant it’s perfect !More

Excellent all around

Excellent service, great food, lovely atmosphere. It is one of the nicest and most romantic restaurants in the area. We can’t fault it and will definitely be back!

Not the best............

Botanica was great for breakfast but disappointing for dinner - duck and steak were markedly undercooked with duck going back to the kitchen and half the steak left behind. No decent beer on the Drinks Menu ,but good wines, albeit overpriced. Popcorn dessert dry and...tasteless- desperately needed sauce. Mandatory 3 course meal too much after a day of eating and tasting in the Hunter wineries. Service OK but least preferred of the 4 recommended restaurants we tried in the Hunter Valley.More

We will be back

Chose the food pairing with wine. All courses and wine just excellent. Order the sides - Brussels and fries in our case. Rhubarb streusel dessert was something else. Will definitely be back.

Professional service and Exquisite food and wines.

Beautiful location and very warm welcoming ambience immediately you enter the restaurant. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful and we were very impressed with the delicious food. Thoroughly recommended and we will definitely be returning on our next visit to the Hunter Valley

Wonderful service, beautiful food

It was my last dinner venue on my last night in the Hunter Valley. Beautiful venue, and seating glancing out to the vineyard. (Shame it was too cloudy for a good sunset!) A la carte and degustation options available, I had the degustation. Beautifully presented...and delightful food. Courtney the wait staff was fantastic (and sent me home with a surprise gift!). As always, this is a special restaurant that produces high quality fine dining, top service and provides wonderful views – especially as sunset time. We enjoyed the five (technically seven) tasting menu ($130) and took the wine pairing. The courses were great, some brilliant (the...home made snickers) the portions were spot on. Perhaps the balance between the pasta and the seafood was out of line in the home made bug tortellini, but that’s just being a bit picky. Very enjoyable.More

Outstanding Saturday lunch

Outstanding in every way. The onion tart looked great on the plate and the flavours went so well together. The highlight was the mulloway with grapes main - looked absolutely amazing, tasted great and perfect mix of textures. Beautiful fruit based desserts. Excellent service from...Courtney. First class restaurant with fine food and professional staff deserving of its reputation a one of the Hunters finest.

My wife and I visited Restaurant Botanica for our wedding anniversary. The predinner drinks out on the lawn enjoying the warm evening sun was glorious. Romantic dinner

We love this restaurant. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We arrived a bit early for our booking. They didn’t mind. They served our drinks outside as it was a beautiful night and our table wasn’t ready yet. We had the 5 degustation which...was amazing. I don’t eat seafood and they were happy to swap the 3 seafood meals to vegetarian ones for me.will definitely come back againMore

Amazing Experience

We had our wedding (more like an elopement) with four guest. We were married on the lawn near the vineyards. The whole experience was amazing. All staff went above and beyond to make our stay beautiful and memorable, they were engaging, present & genuine. We...dined on the 3 course menu which was absolutely incredible. Delightful service and food

Good service and ambience

Beautiful setting at Spicers with a view of illuminated grape vines, lit up against a backdrop of sky and mountains. The restaurant interior was cosy and comfortable. Hi Fantill, Botanica isn't open on Mondays and not dog friendly , if you choose to take your dog, Nana Kerrs , the Deck cafe at Gartelmans Winery is very good and pet friendly also Emersons Restaurant and Ironbark Hill Hope... More

Restaurant Botanica does serve breakfast but it is only for our guests who are staying at our onsite accommodation - Spicers Vineyard Estate.
