The whole experience from start to finish was pretty “meh”, not the worst but not great. For what you pay it’s not value for money. We had the 3 courses for $77pp and thankfully ordered a side to go with our mains which didn’t arrive for 10 minutes after we’d received and eaten our mains. The portions were on the smaller side. The service was all over the shop and quite disappointing for the total spend which was close to $200 for two people. Not sure why in 2020 were still paying credit card Visa fee’s? Also it seemed as though you couldn’t buy a glass of wine on its own, you had to buy an entire bottle. There are much better places to eat in the Hunter.

Meals are fantastic but quite small and slightly expensive for what you get. We booked on line and had the opportunity to nominate the occasion which for us was our 20th wedding anniversary. The chef served us a complimentary dessert to acknowledge the occasion which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. The wine list is extensive but unfortunately our first 2 choices were not available. Our third choice was a $140 semillon which was served far from cold enough and we needed to sit it on the ice for 10 minutes before drinking. Our host was charming and tried his best but we felt a little deflated at the overall experience. Nice restaurant with great ambience but overall for the price a little under done. As a suggestion we would have been happier to pay more for a larger meal.

Took my family here for dinner midweek. Was going to go to Brokenback Bar next door and when I rang to book was talked into the Mill as it was supposedly nicer.
The service could not be faulted.
We received a plate of home made bread and an amuse bouche each. It was tasteless. It was supposed to be a cucumber base and duck with beetroot wasabi. It tasted like a spongey piece of cucumber and hard dried out duck and a nothing flavour with the beetroot wasabi.
My entree was mixed review. My lobster slipper was lovely but was served with a hard inedible noodle basket. Oysters were tasty and fresh but each time we ate one had to remove shell.....
The barramundi was nice and soft but no taste. My daughter in laws lamb was incredibly dry. The beef ribs were nice.
The sides were burnt and not enticing and the desserts underwhelming in flavour.
All in all very average and would have preferred brokenback bar after being charged incorrectly for $1000 when our bill was $600. They did correct it but it shouldnt happen.
Only reason i booked there was the people told me on phone the children could have nuggets and the re staurant was flexible. This was not the case. We were charged $25 a head for kids meal and they had a strict choice of fish chips or spag bol or pizza with 3 scoops ice cream after.
Wont rush back. Plenty of better places to dine in vineyards.

We had dinner and breakfast at the mill on a recent weekend stay.
The dinner service was very ordinary. There seemed to be plenty of staff but very little organisation. Two nearby table both made complaints before we even got a chance to order.
When we were seated we were left alone for some time when someone arrived with bread which was very tasty. What didn’t happen was the offer to take a drink order or meals.
Someone then arrived and asked if we would like to order which we did. We asked for a bottle of wine from the menu and the person returned three times as each one we ordered wasn’t available...? Once we found one ( remembering we were in the middle of the vineyards) someone appeared and said we won’t bring it out yet as it will be at least 45m for entrees as the restaurant was busy. We suggested it might be best to bring the bottle out anyway.
The food when it did arrive was ok. Not the’ hatted’ experience we had expected. We poured our own wine, no one can near us and the table surrounding us similarly served.
The most prompt service came when I actually got up and asked for the bill! It came out in record time...
Returning the next morning for breakfast ( as it was included in our stay) was a similar experience . Two surrounding tables both making service or food order complaints as we took our seat. The food ok but nothing special and oddly a cheaper breakfast option choice not allowed ( you would have to pay for that yourself ?? Was the comment). The tea arrived in cups ,no teapot , with the little baggy dangling away...
Overall the staff were polite but never made eye contact and seemed extremely disorganised. I felt sorry for them . Maybe just an off weekend but for the price the service offering really dragged the place way way down.

The view was fantastic but that’s the only nice thing I can say.
Let’s start.. the waiter took too long to take our order including asking if we wanted anything to drink. We were a bit over wine so opted for a margarita and a whiskey sour which were $20 each. The margarita tasted like it was made with cheap tequila and the whiskey sour had a cherry in it and was painfully awful to drink. Our entree came before our drinks.
The entree of lobster crepe really lacked flavour except for a hint of chilli. We then decided to give one more cocktail ago and ordered a dirty martini.. let’s just say dirty dish water tastes better.
The main of the beef ribs were fantastic but smaller than a child’s portion. The second main was the barramundi which quite frankly was old fish - not even frozen just so awful that it couldn’t be eaten. There was also no real sauce or seasoning. The waiter questioned why I didn’t eat it and I said it wasn’t fresh. The waiter apologised and came back a short time later saying the chef said a delivery of fresh fish came in earlier that day (on a Sunday) which I find extremely hard to believe.
Dessert came out and again below average which was the parafait and chocolate lava cake.
We received 10% off our bill because of the inedible fish.
Overall would not recommend and wouldn’t go back.

We had a nice dinner here but breakfast was a shocker. We were left waiting with a lot of others outside while six staff wandered around inside without clearing or resetting tables. We were told delays were caused by the fact that people didn’t want to sit outside on the terrace because of the heat, there were plenty of tables inside they just needed to be reset (and is a hot day in the Hunter really such an abnormal event?). After 15 minutes standing outside we got a table and ordered coffees and two continental breakfasts, coffees came quickly but my breakfast only arrived after 35 minutes and chasing two separate waiters, the waiter we ordered from clearly had no idea what was happening. My husband at least got some cereal so only waited 25 minutes for the rest (undercooked pastries and cold toast). The floor manager couldn’t have been more disinterested in the feedback if he tried and decided sarcasm was the best was to deal with unhappy customers. Once again we heard about how difficult the hot morning was for the staff. He even tried to overcharge us for our barista coffees, any place with half decent service would have waived the charge and apologised for our poor experience but no, not the staff at The Mill. Tuscany Estate is a lovely place to stay and we will be back but not for breakfast.

The food at The Mill is faultless, we enjoyed absolutely tasteful food with puntutual service. However, it is quite disheartening to see every other table given fresh bread on arrival apart from us. By the time we realised this over sight we had already eaten our main and no apology was ever given. For a 'hatted' restaurant it is hard to be impressed when both courses are brought out the wrong way around (ie my and my partner's order presented the wrong way around, only minor but this is a hatted venue i believe?). Overall I would rather dine somewhere that maybe does not own a 'hat' but does offer a more defined experience. Uiop

We dined here mid week and had to pre book with a credit card. The decor was very elegant and the staff attentive. But beware when asked do you want still or sparkling water. I asked for still expecting a bottle of tap water. No! Small bottle of water on the bill was $9! The food was delicious but the main was meat only and we were advised to order the root vegetables for $10. Again delicious but at $67 for 2 courses surely the vegetables should be included. We were given complimentary bread! Overall the restaurant was very good but a little overpriced.

We visited The Mill in February for a large group booking. We had preordered meals in order to assist the kitchen for a smooth service and to meet our turnaround time (in a wine tour)
The meals were fast, delicious and albeit slightly small, we all left satisfied. The setting and view were lovely. I would highly recommend The Mill for a large group function

As a vegetarian, I was looking for ten minutes to find something that sounded filling and appetising for dinner.
I had my heart set on ordering the mushroom burger before arriving, however since the menu changed it is no longer available.
The only burger they had suitable for a vegetarian was a black bean patty. Not at all what I would ever choose on my burger.
I asked to order a normal chicken burger and swap the chicken for either mushroom OR Halloumi... they told me they did not have halloumi or mushroom at all in the kitchen so this was not possible.
Very disappointed in the options available for a non meat eater.
I ended up ordering a chicken burger with no chicken , and of course was still charged full price
Prior to arriving I called the venue 10 times to and there was no answer.
Will not be returning to one of my favourite places. What a shame.

The setting and view is lovely, however the experience didn’t match it. The room looks appealing from the outside but once you enter, we realized there is no ambiance in this place and the very ordinary music they play (hospitality covers mix so they don’t have to pay extra royalties) caps it off. To make it worse, when you sit down you can’t see the view because the balcony railing is exactly at eye level.
Now for the food. Old fashioned. The lobster crepe was ok. The pork belly was flavoursome. Deep fried enoki was an odd touch for a garnish. I can’t imagine anyone who actually has a passion for food doing that to a delicate mushroom. The beef short ribs were the dish of the day. Meat falling from bone and lovely caramelisation. The barramundi overbooked and mushy. We only had one dessert, the fondant, which was passable but quite powdery in texture.
Very few wines by the glass and none particularly inspiring.
Overall poor value for money and the set menu thing really is outdated.

It was a terrible dinner experience. I made the booking weeks ago, initially i made booking for 4 people, they took my CC details and told me they will send me confirmation SMS, but it was not happening. Right at the next day, i phone them again to change the booking for 8 people, they said no problem and also told me i will receive another confirmation SMS, still nothing happened. But when we arrived there, they said they only received a reservation for 4 people. They were still nice to settle us a table for 8 people, but that table was at the deep corner of the terrace, it was super hot at that moment, there is no air conditioner over there, even no a roof fan. They even don't manage to open a window to make us feel better. We just had the dinner in like a sauna room. There were still plenty space in the indoor restaurant, but they just do nothing to make us feel better. The food is just so so, not worthy that money, i definitely wont go back again. If you want to have an elegant dinner with your family or your lover, you need to take risk if you book this restaurant!!!

Unfortunately, my guests and I were very underwhelmed and incredibly disappointed with what The Mill had to offer for dinner a few nights ago.
Three out of four entrees served were bland in taste. We needed salt, but there was none on the table and there was no staff available on the floor to bring us any for an extended time, whilst our meals went cold.
Two barramundi main meals, meant to be served with cannellini beans, were instead served with (easily identifiable) tinned four bean mix!
Whilst the fish itself was well cooked, the overall dish was also frustratingly lacking in flavour as was the $13 side of warmed 'spiced' rice salad - which came across as having been sourced from a packet, mixed with a few pieces of cauliflower and broccoli to add colour and texture. There was no 'spice' flavour at all.
The initial meet and greet was attentive and pleasant enough, but we never saw a staff member again unless a meal was being delivered to our table or to one of the only other two being occupied that evening. One of our diners had the added misfortune of twice having to wait an extra 3-4 minutes for his meal to be delivered after the other three had received theirs. This is not the fine dining experience one expects or pays for.

After much comparison, chose The Mill for a special evening meal to celebrate my wife’s special birthday. It is a lovely setting, though COVID-19 requirements made the restaurant space feel quite empty and soulless.
Service was first rate and sufficiently attentive and polite.
The menu was well structured for a smaller number of clients. My wife and I chose different meals to make up the fixed price three course meal. The scallop and pork belly starter was very tasty and succulent. Quite a delight. A great start.
The lamb was beautifully.cooked. It was a disappointment and a surprise that the roasted vegetables side dish had “run out”. How can that happen? Sounds like a cock up in ordering. The alternative of broccoliini was acceptable, just.
Choosing the chocolate fondant dessert was so lucky. It was to die for.
So overall a pretty good evening meal. Recommended.

Had a birthday dinner here. At booking they asked if it was for a special occasion, we said birthday - on the dining night no recognition of this.
Wobbly table, dry pork belly, tiny bland food serving, uncooked vegetables, boring tasteless soufflé. Pleasant staff and attentive service. However, no discount on bill after complaining. Very disappointing meal given the hype on websites. It’s a shame really as we are here in the hunter to support restaurants during covid.
Would not recommend.
We have since had fabulous meals elsewhere.
