We had a group of 20 celebrate my sister’s 21st for lunch at Two Fat Blokes and we had the most amazing day! Wanda arranged for us to sit out the back so that we could have our own private area. The lunch menu was limited because it was a Saturday, but that was perfect for us because we were wanting a casual, relaxed lunch. The staff all went over and above to make it the best experience it could be - including singing Happy Birthday for my sister and giving her a special gift! All in all, I would 100% recommend the Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Kitchen for any groups looking to have an informal gathering in a lovely location with delicious food and wine!

Booked a table here for my family of 8 after checking the menu online. On arrival we where presented with a different menu, mainly share plates with lots of fried and heavy meal options. Food was ok if you are after that sort of menu. Very disappointing for us as we where after a deli style lunch. Wine is good and reasonably priced but you have to purchase wine from the cellar door which was unstaffed and when the staff member did attend she had to serve the wine tasting groups first. People were turned away for lunch despite tables in the restaurant remaining empty for the 2 hours we where there. Cheese and wine tasting seems to be a priority here. Unfortunately an average dining experience and poor value.

Went on a full day food and wine tour with these guys Bill was a fantastic driver/host with a vast knowledge of the Hunter Valley region giving humorous but well informed advice on food and wine matchings. Two vineyards for tastings first with Bimbadgen a stand out for me then on to Two Fat Blokes Kitchen for wine & cheese matchings then a delicious pasta lunch onto two more vineyards for tastings Glendore had chocolate matchings as well then finally onto Hunter Valley Distillery lovely Gins/Vodkas & Scnapps here the chille ones stood out for me...a great day out highly recommended thanks Bill....a birthday to remember..

Had breakfast here. Smashed avo on sourdough is not sourdough, more like a super a white bread roll. There was hardly any avo, a tiny smear of goats cheese and the poached eggs were just wrong. Shakshuka eggs lacked flavour and the same supermarket bread. Coffee was burnt and undrinkable. Service was not great. Despite empty tables everywhere we were told the only option was to eat at the couch next to the fireplace (which was not lit). Room was dark and dingy. A doorbell kept ringing (I think this was for service from the kitchen, but was in the dining room for all to hear. Staff had no clue about good service. Overall, hugely disappointing and will never go back. They also need to update their website as the menu is old and still shows the old location which appears much nicer. We drove out here yesterday to get deli goods based on an impressive picture and description on the website, but they no longer have anything to speak of in the deli and the person who served us kind of shrugged when we asked.

When we arrived for our cheese and wine pairing we were ushered in and asked to wait. I stayed by the counter as my partner went to explore the grounds which is where the oddness started as the waitress said out loud with me 5 feet away ‘oh we don’t have any Brie, oh well they won’t notice’ well I did notice in fact you told me, anyway no major harm done.
So when the tasting began, a plate with 9 cheeses on crackers was brought out for each of us, not particularly generous in size was my first instinct, then the host began to speak to us and asked where we are from, when I said Sydney she said out loud “well why are you here?” (the only other couple were also from Sydney), she then proceeded to talk about COVID 19 and her worries and concerns. My issue with this is that I paid to get COVID shamed and to have to justify why I was there, I’m not accustomed to paying money for to justify my existence and if you don’t want my custom or my business don’t take my booking, but if you do, make me feel welcome.
Anyway she talked about the wine and cheese in what felt an excruciatingly painful manner, staring straight ahead the majority of the time and pouring very small measures of wine and to be honest I just wanted it to end.
I will say although small (for $30 each) both the cheese and wine were good I even bought some, but it’s not just about that it’s about an experience and while this was just that it’s not one I would ever recommend.
I have read some of your replies to other people and if you disagree with my judgement on you fine, but really that’s probably the issue here. It’s a difficult time for everyone, but that’s not an excuse for poor service and a terrible welcome.

Unfortunate and disappointing lunch stop on arrival at the Hunter - and did not live up to previous reviews or enticing menu. Not sure about what is happening in the kitchen at this place but food absolutely terrible to average to quite nice. We were a bit weary after ordering when we saw another couple of dinners who's meal arrived a short time later and they subsequently left before ours arrived with one leaving most of the offering untouched.
We ordered 2 of the steak sandwiches and neither was edible, meat did not looked grilled more like broiled, no colour, no flavour, very thick slice of beef with large amount of fat left on and was duly left untouched for the most part. The burnt butter gnocchi with Parmesan, came out as a creamy cheese sauce and nothing resembling any type of burnt butter sauce previously enjoyed, The gnocchi was a bit heavy/doughy but okay (bit like pack offerings) and overall the cheese sauce was passable/average. The saving grace for at least one of us was the Jaeger pork schnitzel which was given a big thumbs up. One order of a bowl of chips was a safe option and fine. So for 6 meals, 2 x terrible, 3 x okay and 1 x good.
To be fair we did raise our disappointment with wait staff and to their credit the two steak sandwiches were not billed. The waitress was apologetic and very nice so fair due to this young lady taking the initiative and at least trying to save some credit.
The place is a bit off the track to get to and has a eclectic rustic sort of vibe in a semi bush setting with odd bits and pieces scattered around. As some have indicated the toilet is not well positioned. They are endeavouring to be covid safe with registering and sanitiser etc.
I won't be giving this venue a second go and wouldn't recommend, bit of a pity as seemed to offer some promise and has previous good reviews.

Staff are wonderful, beautiful area. Wines, honey, cheeses are among some of the things available to purchase made on site as well as other gift/souvenir items. Premises are clean, warm and inviting full of old world charm. A special thank you to Wander who made our visit even more special. You'll visit here n never want to leave. Whether you want to sample wine or just stop for a cuppa you won't be disappointed PLUS the biggest burgers I have ever seen for a great price and the beer batter fries are amazing.

This restaurant when up around Broke Rd was lovely and good food. Some clown told them to spend a small fortune and move to Hermitage Rd. I took a group of 13 there last Thursday and the meals were awful. I could have done better and that's saying something. The service was fine (maybe because no one there) and the prices OK but who cares about that if the food was lousy. Pork so overcooked, mushroom sauce must have accidently had a pound of sugar added to it. Gnocchi straight out of a packet, no salad dressing, you don't want me to continue. So disappointed, I used to love going to the Hunter to visit 2 Fat Blokes, but now we refer it to being 2 Fat Clowns. 1 is too high a rating

I went to the restaurant with a couple of family members and friends and instantly I loved the look of the restaurant despite being a remote place. The risotto I purchased was well cooked, however I'm not a big fan of chicken so I didn't really like the chicken. I suggest that they give us an option of what meat we would like. But other than that, staff were nice. Would go again!

We had a family Brunch at Two fat blokes. The waitress was friendly and talkative. Portions are well sized, coffee was nice, battered chips were too oily, hamburgers were massive and we requested a plate and cutlery to eat them. Part of order was forgotton so one of us waited longer whilst there burger was cooked. I always take into account the restrooms when rating. Toilet was really difficult to access as the door swung in too far, the hand dryer didn't work and there was no paper towels. Overall worth a visit but nothing outstanding.

We booked the 'Uncork the Hunter' tour to celebrate our anniversary weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Bill was our guide for the day and he was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. The bus was air conditioned and clean and the wineries we visited were lovely. The cheese tasting back at Two Fat Blokes was great and Bill was happy to share lots of tips about wine drinking, serving and storing. We had a wonderful time.

Second last stop on a twofatblokes tour. Nice tasting wines named for the seven deadly sins.Paired with some nice cheese and meats. Quality Black Forest Ham and along with the wine, the cheeses and meats can be bought (if in stock). Friendly light hearted atmosphere.

Amazing food, beautiful staff and comfy, quirky decor.
My partner and I always visit Two Fat Blokes for brekkie when we visit the Hunter. The food is always so delicious, fresh and generous. Such a great selection with lots of side options and no request is ever an issue. Coffee is hot and made well. Service is quick and friendly and there’s one beautiful lady (I can’t remember her name unfortunately) who is a total ray of sunshine and contributes to us returning again and again. The staff are so lovely, chatty and thoughtful. The cafe has a unique and quirky style that is so comfortable and homely.
We highly recommend and will be back again and again :)

We have been annual visitors to Two Fat Blokes Restaurant since it was on Broke Road.
First, the positives; the food we had today was very nice. Generous and delicious.
The downsides; the new location, while quite rusitic, did not have a patch on the original restaurant. It was quite dingy inside and just didn't have any outlook. The single unisex toilet is almost adjoining the eating area and before I used it, it was frequented by a gentleman who thought 'near enough was good enough'. Was pretty disgusting to have to clean a public loo before you can use it; especially inside a restaurant.
Our very first time at Two Fat Blokes we shared a dessert that was so nice we kept coming back. Today, there was no dessert menu.
While our food was very nice, had this been our first time, I wouldn't have thought it anything remarkable.
And, the MOST, concerning thing, no sign in book anywhere. We had booked but staff didn't even ask the name for our booking. We are a little confounded by this.
The staff were nice but just didn't have the same buzz as before. It felt like there was just no love for it anymore. Very sad to see.
