I’d booked a table via the website and mentioned that it was for an early bday celebration for my friend and asked if ‘Happy Birthday’ could be somehow incorporated into her dessert on the day. Received a lovely email back the day after saying it could definitely be done. When I arrived on Monday, all the staff knew about the request and were so lovely. Customer service was fantastic. Now onto the desserts... oh my god... Just amazing. They’re works of art and I felt kind of bad eating them haha!! We each got an individual dessert, plus a tasting plate. Ended up taking quite a bit home with us because we couldn’t finish it all. The portions are incredibly generous and the pricing is very reasonable considering the quality and artistry of the desserts they have. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be back.

One of the best dessert bars around, good Covid19 restrictions and prebooking recommend. Gave our group of 6 plenty of time to indulge and enjoy. Nice selection of sweets and alcohol drinks, nice views and gardens, has a cider house down stairs. Price for 6 with Scones, cheesecake and smoothies was $190

My partner and I went to Sabor for desserts and coffees on a Saturday afternoon. We had a good experience although I think there are a couple of improvements which could've made it better. Due to the COVID19 situation the seating spaces are limited, so we made sure to book prior to our visit. When we got to the restaurant, there was a line at the door mixed with people who were waiting to be seated and people who were ordering take away. We had to wait on the line for about 15mins to get seated and once we were seated we have been told we had to go up to the counter to place our order which had another line mixed with people also ordering take away and dine-in. We jumped on the line straight away as we were deciding what to order from the menu and waited about 25mins to place our order. The menu is great and the food options are amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food and coffees arrived in our table within 10 minutes of ordering which was great. The coffee there wasn't as good as the food, we both ordered piccolos (mine was on almond milk) and I had to ask for it to be replaced with an espresso as the piccolo tasted a bit bitter. We really liked the dessert (I've ordered the brownie fudge) and we would give it another go next time we come up to the Hunter Valley again.

Went here yesterday for a 2:30pm reservation. Arrived on time but spent 10 minutes waiting at the door for us to be seated, severely understaffed there was only one waiter. When we were led coldly to our table we were told we had to go to the counter to be served. This was problematic for tonnes of reasons. Firstly, in a relatively small cafe the line was around 20 people deep! Snaked all throughout the cafe and at one point the waiter directed the line to go out the door (into the dreary cold). The line was moving absurdly slow due to the fact they only had one cashier and everyone was ordering a fair bit (understandable as you would be hungry after waiting in a line for 30 minutes). After 10 minutes in the line we left the cafe without eating as only around 5 people had been served in that time (still around 20 people in front of me!!!) and I was being constantly harassed to social distance even though I was 1m from each person in the line. DO NOT go to this place if you want a nice drink/dessert in a reasonable amount of time. It is absolutely unreasonable to have to have more than a 1 hour booking to have a couple desserts and a coffee (10 minute wait time at the door, 25+ minute wait in line, 30 mins to enjoy food). Seems extremely hypocritical to be harassing people in the line about social distancing when you have 30 people in a line which snakes throughout and 30 people sitting down and 20 people waiting outside in your small cafe. Why would you allow people to come for takeaway and clog up the line when people have made the time to call up and reserve a table just for us to wait behind a tonne of people who didn’t. In short: cold staff, crowded cafe, 30 minute wait in a line, not worth. We actually drove 10 minutes to Cessnock to Grices Bakery and got a pie (very good by the way!!!) and 10 minutes back to enjoy a cider tasting, by this time we probably wouldn’t have even got served!! Don’t waste your time

Coffee drinkers beware, apparently no one is drinking Soy anymore(and i never have but my wife does), so it's not on the menu. Not something you really think of in this day and age, with Soy having been around for so many years now. Yet they have Almond and Lactose free milk. Many of the desserts are very similar in taste, the Sabor tasting plate while looking visually diverse was basically a plate of very similar tastes. The Blueberry Cheesecake was underwhelming, being a New York style cheesecake with Blueberries plonked on top, not a good flavour combination, while its hard to mess up Blueberries, whoever made the cheesecake needs to rethink their recipe. Be aware even when you have a booking, they do not take the orders at the table, you have to join the line at the counter. No social distancing or efforts to enforce it. Due to the line to order and the layout, numerous persons 'leaning' into your personal space even pre-Covid, or walking very close to look at the display for which they will have plenty of time to look while they wait. Having placed my order, now less one coffee, they asked if we want water, they provided two glasses of water. A waiter later tried to take the glasses when clearing plates, proceeding to presumptively touch the glass near the top area where I would need to drink from, and the glass was nowhere near empty. Poor flow, poor systems, poor crowd management, and poor cheesecake.

I do remember your visit, unfortunately the only non-social distancing was when you leaned over the counter to ABUSE my young staff for not serving soy milk, and knowing full well this is all a massive rant because of soy milk, I remember having to intervene because you were upsetting my staff and other patrons. I specifically asked you during your meal if you enjoyed it and you said yes. To try and falsely disgrace a business because you didn’t get soy milk is very upsetting especially with soooo many of us trying to keep our heads above water through tough times during COVID. Shame on you.

Sorry, but this place is a huge let down. The desserts look amazing and so after buying three individual desserts for $40 we were looking forward to having them. Unfortunately we could barely eat them as the taste was terrible. I had the mixed berry cheesecake which tasted ordinary and cheap. My sister’s cake was rock hard and dry, like it had been left out for days. Will not be returning. Like most things in the hunter, cheap products for huge prices because it’s the “hunter valley”

This place is amazing, I got the flaming brownie which comes out sizzling and they light it on fire, very cool and delicious, definitely make a booking, we could just walk straight in without a wait. The line to order was long but the food and drinks were really quick to come out, and you can enjoy local ciders which is great. The view across the vineyards was an added extra bonus a must do in the Hunter!

I have visited Sabor a few times. The desserts are delicious and there is a wide selection of treats. The hardest part is deciding what I will eat! The desserts are expensive, but of good quality. I stopped by mid-afternoon with a party of 4 and we were quickly seated, but it was reasonably busy. It took a while for our dessert and drinks to be served. If you intend to visit with a larger party I would recommend booking in advance.

After hearing about this Dessert Place my husband and I finally got to visit this place. Well, it was not a dissapointment, there were so many choices of cakes and desserts to chose from. We finally settled for a Lychee & Berry cake and a Pistachio Cheesecake. They were both delicious, but have to say that the lychee was not as prominent. The cakes were all a work of art in itself!! I ordered a Dirty Chai and hubby ordered a coffee. After eating my dessert with a few sips of my Chai in-between I somehow tippped my cup and poured the whole cup over me. I rushed to the ladies to wash my skirt before the stain had time to set in. When I went back to my table I had a new cup of chai waiting for me. Hubby said the lady cleaned up the table and flour and told him she will make another one and remembered what I ordered. We insisted on paying but they would not accept our payment. It blew my mind away at how generous they were. I was very touched by their gesture of kindness. On leaving we again asked if we could pay but, again, they refused. I was on cloud nine by their generosity. They didn’t have to replace it but they did. What a service! We will definitely make the 2hour trip from Central Coast again to keep trying all their amazing desserts!

Selection of cakes & desserts are best in the morning. By the afternoon, the display cabinet has thinned out a lot! VERY expensive - most of the cakes were $14 each but are mini works of art so worth it. As a one off treat, it was well worth it

Dreaming of a huge selection of Cakes, teas and all things delicious, then Sabor Dessert Cafe is the one. Amazing array of cakes, biscuits and chocolates to choose from. If you wish to sit in cafe, your must reserve as very small sitting area.......tables were clean. You can check out selection from menu and display and then you line up and order at cashier. Food and drinks are then delivered to table. We choose a 5 piece dessert plate, all crafted beautifully and surprisingly not super sweet. The full serve cakes are quite large. We purchased two to take home and these were packaged in little boxes and fitted into our small esky. NB If you are vineyard hopping suggest you take chilled esky in the car with you as we purchased cakes, chocolates and cheeses throughout our day visit. One thing that was annoying, Sabor is soo noisy, heaps of mothers with little ones screeching!! It made the cafe soo noisy that we just wanted to leave quickly. Staff were pleasant although service is pretty slow.

Went to Sabor for husband birthday. Tried to book the timed seating but was told booked our. There were two couples seated in restaurant. The Covid restrictions were applied well - spaced takeaway pickup, hand sanitizer and Covid test check. The wait to get inside for takeaway was over hour. Very busy. Once inside it was reasonable quick. Ordered a selection of desserts to take home for birthday- Toberone cheesecake, Caramel tart, caramel galaxy, lemon tart and red berry web. All selections were delicious.

Not coming back. Average desserts can get at any cafe...and extremely pricey, Not at all worth it especially after booking a table ages ago got seated in the back room facing kitchen door with no views when they were 3 empty tables in the front room for 45 minutes. The guy at the front door had a very bad attitude, he couldn't care less.

Hi Sachin, Thank you for your review. Unfortunately there are a few statements in your review that just aren't true. I was "the guy at the front door", the owner. Firstly you didn't book "ages ago" you booked online 2 days earlier on 3rd April at exactly 4:36pm, So just under 48 hours before your booking, I can post the photo of your online booking if you wish. You saw 2 tables that were empty near the window which you pointed at and said can't we have those ones, I said, very nicely with NO attitude, " sorry they are reserved for people who have booked window tables (which by the way were booked over a month ago). They didn't stay empty either for 45 minutes as you claim, while you were seated in the room to rear, with other patrons, those tables were filled by the people that booked them and then they proceeded to leave before you did so you wouldn't have seen them being seated. As the owner, there is NO REASON whatsoever why I wouldn't have tried to make you happy and seat you there if they were free. Finally the "kitchen door" you speak about is a door that is closed off and out of use so it's not like my staff were walking in and out if it. I'm sorry we couldn't give you a table by the window but they were reserved as I said over a month ago and I wouldn't have been doing right by them if I had given the table away to you. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your experience but on the weekends, especially an Easter Long weekend it is always advisable to book as far in advance as possible to get a window table which are very limited.

My partner and I called in for a late morning tea, which filled us until dinner time. The staff member was a bit annoyed we hadn't booked but seated us by a window with a beautiful view and gave us a strict time limit. When it expired we noticed there were plenty of empty tables. I guess our eyes were bigger than our stomachs because we ordered the Chocolate and Nutella dipping plate piled high with caramel popcorn, strawberries, banana slices, marshmallow, honeycomb, waffles, ice cream and more, accompanied by Peterson's Botrytis Semillon dessert wine. I realised afterwards a coffee would have been better. It was sugar overload, we couldn't finish but took some home in a cute little box

Came here with a few relatives. While the desserts were expensive, they were certainly delicious. We shared three desserts between 5 people. The coco passion meringue was to die for and one of the best desserts I've ever eaten (even my brother who hates meringue loved it). The nutella milkshake was fabulous and the passionfruit macaron was great.
