Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Decided on eating here based on thinking I wanted the pasta dish as I am predominantly vegetarian. After waiting a while to be seated as, at least five minutes, I considered leaving as it appeared there was only one waitress running orders, serving food and...drinks. Glad I didn’t! The walls on one side are glass which I loved, especially once the sun went down and you could see all the lights on in the distance in the dark. It made such a pretty ambience. I had a rose to drink and decided as this was known for its seafood, I’d branch out and order the fish of the day. Glad to be flexitarian. Awesome thing about here is you can order each meal as a small entree size or a main size. Thinking that I don’t really ever eat fish I’d just get small size. This dish was so amazing and the flavours just blew me away. I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of the dish, the pairing of flavours, that sauce!!!! I basically inhaled it and regretted not getting a main. Give this place a try!More

Don't believe the hype....this is just very ordinary club food, in a very ordinary room, with very ordinary service. Our party of three was looking forward to some decent seafood after reading their own posted reviews and their website which says "You can almost smell...the ocean when you arrive at Lure, a quaint restaurant that transports you to a little Greek fishing village on the water's edge." The scene upon arrival is very different... a few fake-looking fishing floats and a mural of a girl swimming with jellyfish....who do they think they are kidding? My wife and I had the crab cakes for entré. These were ok, not particularly "crabby", but there was a tasty pear, fennel and walnut salad as an accompaniment. They were also expensive for what was offered...$24 for two small crab cakes and a bit of (quite nice) salad. For mains we had the barramundi, but this had a pasty texture and was not particularly flavoursome. The accompanying baked vegetables were quite OK, but again the meal was poor value for the what was delivered. The wine list was adequate. They did have a good cocktail selection, if that is your thing. Service was very ordinary...they didn't have the wine we ordered from the wine list, and it went first to the wrong table. They also mucked up our entré order so that our food came out in dribs and drabs. Overall I felt that it was a very ordinary meal masquerading as fine dining. Never again!More

For a “seafood” restaurant it has a very very poor seafood menu. Menu is pricey and quality certainly doesn’t justify the cost!! Service and ambience was good, just very over priced, extremely limited menu and food wasn’t anything I would re-order.

Very classy feel to this restaurant. Hostess was friendly, polite and knowledgeable. It was no trouble asking if we could be out by 7pm. The seafood pasta and barramundi were well cooked and delicious. All mains were under $40 which was reasonable. We shared a...banoffe brownie dessert which was so moreish we could have had 4. All together a great meal.More

I've stayed at the West Club around 10 times recently and have dined here perhaps 5 times. Would come here more often as the food is great, but the service is really a turn off. The food is really nice, they have seafood specials which...change every week and everything I've ordered is well prepared and fresh. The service is another story. It's very difficult to order food or drinks as the staff quickly pace around the restaurant and avoid eye contact with diners. When I eat here now I stand up and approach the staff when I'm ready to order, which I don't think is appreciated. When you eventually place an order the drinks take far too long to come out.More

Couldn't fault anything here, the blue chilli crab was absolutely delicious as was the calamari- this came with the best octopus either of us have ever had. The potato scallops side was without any doubt the best scallops we've had in our life, and I'd...consider going back just for these. Service was great and the food was well priced for what it was. Two entrees, a main, a side and a bread left us completely full and unable to fit in any more. The cocktails available here that aren't available at the usual bars are great as well. Definitely will be going back.More

Staying at the hotel next door this was a convenient restaurant for us to pop into and we’re so glad we did. Best seafood we have had in a long time! We were welcomed by a super friendly lady who gave our 2 & 6...year old an activity pack to keep them entertained. We shared a cold seafood plate - there was no crab but they let us know in advance that we’d get extra oysters and prawns we ended up with 12 fresh oysters, 12 prawns and 2 Moreton bay bugs. We also ordered a scallop entree which was delicious, a side of broccolini, a delicious dessert and out kids shared the crumbled chicken & chips with an ice cream for dessert + 4 drinks which came to just under $125. We felt this was super reasonable for a seafood meal in a lovely restaurant. The presentation of each dish was really lovely and the seafood was very fresh and prepared well. We would most definitely go back!More

Well appointed, quiet restaurant. Staff were polite and efficient. The three of us ordered the cold seafood plate which was served quickly and was beautiful fresh oysters, crab, bug and prawns. Could not fault and will return. I would recommend booking.

Nouvelle cuisine approach to presentation of scallops was overdone with four scallops looking lost on an oversized plate dressed with a so so sauce. Then came the lobster mornay and beef main. Others at the table were happy with theirs. Unfortunately my lobster had been...cooked dry and the beef, although almost falling apart, was likewise very dry.More

One of the best Seafood meals I've had in a while. The 6 of us enjoyed a lovely meal of the freshest seafood. People probably don't expect this quality from Wests, but our experience was up there with the best! If you like Seafood and...haven't tried Lure give it a go!!More

I love Wests and eat there often, but this is our first experience at Lure. We paid top dollar for a below average meal. My fish was full of bones (literally every mouthful was two or three bones and with dim lighting I found it...impossible to find them), over cooked and dry. My partner's meal was apparently tasteless and bland. The accompanying "salad" was 90% radish. As much as I hate to say it I am glad we got a bowl of chips for the table, at least they were pleasant. That being said the atmosphere is great, and quiet considering how busy the restaurant floor is at the club. The staff are also wonderful and attentive, and know their stuff. We may try again, as it may have just been an off night and I can see that others have had a great experience. Unfortunately this pretty much ruined a birthday dinner for my partner.More

West’s New Lambton has some great restaurants and Lure is one of them. The food and service was excellent. The wine list is limited and over priced considering a sports club is about members benefits, but the food is reasonably priced for the quality. I...would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurantMore

I wasn’t really sure what to expected from this restaurant but I was so impressed.. there isn’t many restaurant’s in Newcastle with excellent service and food that you can compare to Sydney. Entree - King fish 5/5 & Scallops 4/5 Main - we shared the...prawn and bug pasta. DELICIOUS. They served in it two seperate bowls which I LOVE and the servings were so reasonably.6/5 Side - crumbed cauliflower 5/5 We also had a 200mil sparking wine and a Hendricks gin each. All this for $126 (with west’s discount) Great food, reasonably priced. Can’t recommend enough.More
