We went for lunch on a Saturday. The view and setting are great, looking over the mown park into the harbour. Large ships drift by pulled by tugs. The food is excellent including choices of meats, a fish dish and a vegetarian dish available for both entree and main. Staff provide a detailed description of all menu dishes as well... More

Very good service with very well presented and delicious meals. Good wine selection. At the high end of meal prices but OK for fine dining experience.

We had the early booking for New Year's eve and found easy parking. We were upstairs on the balcony with a relaxed and quiet ambience and the views were amazing. The prawn entree was superb as was the vanilla panna cotta. The fish mains was also excellent. We couldn't fault the service. Considering my overall experience and the quality of... More

This place is still superb. Romantic dinner for two on the upstairs balcony overlooking the harbour with food that is out of this world. I have always been sceptical of restaurants that offer views - are they simply trading off their view and not their food which is what happened with Newcastle's well known seafood restaurant. Well Paymasters success (and... More

We had to book the earlier seating time of 5pm -7:30pm as the later was booked out. The best thing about that time was that there were still many car spaces left and the light was still good enough to get great views of the harbour. The food was pretty good especially the garlic prawn entree and the berry crumble... More

Lovely view, great wine selection, even chilled red. Most important a good selection of vegetarian food to ensure our friend had a great birthday.

We stopped off in Newcastle more or less on a whim. After having a good look around the waterfront area, we came across the Paymasters, which was just the type of place we wanted for a relaxing lunch. Because of its appearance, we hesitated because we thought it would be fully booked. However, we were delighted to find that they... More

Great luncheon with a fabulous view. The food is always tasty and delicious. I had the 18 hour beef, sooo tender. The service is good and food very delectable. Parking during the Christmas period was not so much easy.

Paymasters is a little haven, within walking distance of the hustle and bustle of the Newcastle CBD in NSW. Located on the Foreshore Park, overlooking the busy and picturesque Newcastle Harbour. Next door to Customs House, the heritage-listed building is on the site of the historic old Convict Lumber Yard. Paymasters Restaurant is one of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley's most delightful dining experiences.

Paymasters is atmospheric, romantic and yet casual. Superb staff ensure a conscientious, personable and delightful dining experience. An essential first date restaurant, our pancakes are wonderful on a weekend morning. Come to Paymasters and experience Garlic Prawns like you will never taste again.
For the visitor to Newcastle, Paymasters is a must experience, for the Hunter local - a weekly haunt. Paymasters can accommodate all manner of circumstances, so bring the kids or a large group. Bookings recommended.
Paymasters is fully licenced, one of life's little pleasures.

Worried about splitting the bill? We can run separate accounts so you don't need to make calculations later. For large parties, we ask for account names when you confirm your final numbers for your booking, smaller parties can arrange accounts when ordering.

We are able to do individual food and beverage accounts for parties of any size.
