Paymasters is a little haven, within walking distance of the hustle and bustle of the Newcastle CBD in NSW. Located on the Foreshore Park, overlooking the busy and picturesque Newcastle Harbour. Next door to Customs House, the heritage-listed building is on the site of the historic old Convict Lumber Yard. Paymasters Restaurant is one of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley's most delightful dining experiences. Paymasters is atmospheric, romantic and yet casual. Superb staff ensure a conscientious, personable and delightful dining experience. An essential first date restaurant, our pancakes are wonderful on a weekend morning. Come to Paymasters and experience Garlic Prawns like you will never taste…

Went their for a small work function for 7 people mid week. Adequate variety of dishes and most with a unique twist. Service was friendly and fast. Drink options were good. No problems a with any of the meals and would recommend.
Good food, average service- food arriving at seperate times and desert that completely didn’t arrive!
The chef was a tad weird when he stood in front of everyone and went through the entire menu. Then told us to be in our seat when the food...More
I enquired a couple of days prior to our Reservation via the owner Randolph whether Chef Rodney would do a LOBSTER THERMIDOR for me.
Randolph sourced a 2 Kg LIVE SYDNEY ROCK LOBSTER and had it transported to Newcastle the afternoon before our Lunch.
We booked for brunch on a Saturday, as a farewell to interstate visitors heading home.
The experience was underwhelming - a disappointment since we'd previously had nice meals here.
Three of us ordered the $25 Big Breakfast (from a limited menu). It consisted of toast,...More
