The Grain Store is a specialised restaurant that is focused on showcasing the best independent beer Australia has to offer on our 21 taps. Our food menu has taken inspiration from the classic American Diner with our own Quirky twist, some say we produce the best wings outside of the USA. Located in Newcastle’s Historic East End within an old Grain warehouse it is the perfect site for this Beer focused restaurant it now is. It oozes character and style, and its walls tell a story back to its past origins of what was originally a Grain Store built way back in 1885. Launched back in 2013 as Newcastle's very first Beer Focused venue. We take pride in featuring local independent products in all aspects

The super-friendly staff welcomed a couple of 70yo blow in travelers last week to both sample the craft beer on tap and enjoy dinner. Wow, we couldn't have been more impressed. Great atmosphere, great beer and a wonderful menu. Both our meals were superb. I...even suggested that I should get an award for getting through my steak - it was so big. A real gem .. a touch of Newtown in Newcastle.More

What can I say? 21 beers on tap, all rotating frequently enough. A great tasting paddle where you can pick any beers to try (allowing you to have multiple paddles). The food is excellent and the servings are huge. You won't go hungry or thirsty.

Great atmosphere and beer, but the food has really gone down hill in recent years. Burgers are over cooked and dry. Most meals are lacking in fresh ingredients. Please add a little more salad and a little more love to your food and this good...pub will be great again.More

We turned up for a mid-week early dinner having walked past earlier in the day and been tempted by the menu on the wall outside. We were pleased with the interior and the extensive range of beers on tap covering both our faves, IPAs and...black beers. In addition, there is a large range of spirits and we tried a gin paddle in addition to the beer paddle. The food was simply fantastic and the staff great. We had onion rings, cheeseburger fries, steak and ribs, all pretty good but the fries could have fed an army and the ribs were exceptional. We are only in Newcastle for a week but will definitely be back for another visit. Note - just discovered they're closed on Monday!More

Sat down for a casual Sunday late lunch with good beer, fun music and great food. Game options are a great addition to get kids engaged. Love the wings.

4 out of 7 people in my group weren't happy with our meal at all! The Manager wasn't interested in hearing our feedback personally and sent waitress back with message "that's the way it has always been done here. No one else has complained ".

Four of us had lunch for an 18 and 80 year old birthday. Each of us had different choices in food and the serves were big and all of it was really tasty. 20 choices of beer was great.....try the Moon Dog beer that tastes...like creosote! We loved the music even though it was a little loud for us oldies. St Patrick’s Day sounds like it’s the place to be.More

Hands down my favourite place to go to in Newcastle. Every year I include this venue within my ‘birthday pub crawl’ list and it never disappoints! Although you’re friends may get into an argument of the rules of the best old school board games while...sipping on their favourite drink and eating the best food ;)More

Came here for dinner with my husband and shared the arancini balls, buttermilk fried chicken and salt/pepper squid. Not much flavour in the arancini balls but other choices enjoyable. As is was our first time here we were not sure of portion sizes and whether...this would be enough. Along with a drink each, the three dishes were sufficient. For the craft beer lovers there was a large selection on tap and a good selection of wine by the glass. The staff were friendly and as there were just the two of us, we asked that our plates be spaced apart so as not to get cold. This bar/restaurant has a good atmosphere and I feel that coming in a group would be a better option next time. Covid safe practices were strictly adhered to with bookings to be made on-line only. 2 hours was allowed per booking, QR check in and sanitisers on entry and also table were adequately spaced. Would recommend a visit especially if you love craft beers.More

We came for lunch. Lots of gluten free options. It’s quite American style. But yummy, nothing exceptional but good portion sizes. They have 21 craft beers on tap which is great!
