Having visited a couple of cafes in Newcastle we found One Penny a great stop. Fast service with interesting menu options. Coffee was a highlight.

Greeted with a friendly, prompt service and offered a comprehensive menu. Plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters too! Presentation was fantastic and the whole menu was well priced
Had a great flat white at this cafe it was so good that I am going back tomorrow the food coming out looked good
We had a piccolo latte of the house blend with the green beans coming from Brazil, Colombia, Honduras and Guatemala. Smooth, very balanced blend
Order 2 veggie meals for breaky.....both were fantastic!! Prices were great too. Staff were pleasant and food was quick to come to the table. Check out the pics, delicious. I'd come back, recommended.
Terrific Persian scrambled eggs on lovely sourdough, nice toasty and sublime green smoothies! So nice to be outdoors and away from the local-mullet-tatts-black-heavy-metal-tshirt crowd 😀
Delicious wholesome food, great coffee and friendly and attentive service. The wide ranging menu will suit all tastes and the venue is lovely and relaxed with great outside seating too.
High quality ingredients, but not well executed. The breakfast toasted muesli came with nice fresh fruit, but only a couple of tablespoons of yoghurt - I wonder if the people who serve it have actually tried eating through it. Pot of English breakfast tea was...made with tepid water, so was like dishwater. If I had more time I would have sent it back.More
Great looking little cafe with rustic ambience, roast veggie stack and Salmon stack was amazing and friendly service too. Overall it was great experience.
Take away toast $7 with the toast thrown into a box with some vegemite and one tiny butter that had melted. Inedible. Bacon and egg roll ok but $13? Madness. Also asked for it to be cut in half which was too difficult to comprehend....Move on to the next cafeMore
This is a really nice place to stop for a brunch whilst walking around Newcastle between the CBD, the old railway station, and the river area. The coffee was fantastic, as with a very good egg and bacon roll. Decor is quaint and loaded with...history, service excellent.More
Nice little industrial style cafe with friendly staff and they open nice and early on the weekend. Had 2 weekend breakfasts here and were both excellent. Coffees and leaf teas great, food menu very good, cooked well and hot. Very enjoyable and would return.
This little inside outside Cafe is rustic and cute. Staff are friendly and food is good. Busy at times but worth the wait. Right in the city. Brisk early in the morning sitting outside. 2nd visit for us and we enjoyed coming back.
Iced coffee came first- great; generous with cream and icecream. Sourcdough, toasted, with salmon, mashed avocado, pickled cucumber, sprouts, topped with two superbly cooked poached eggs. One of the best breakfasts ever enjoyed. Fabulous meal. Thank you.
Quite an ordinary street cafe, with OK service and bland food. My burger was quite uninspired, thin and with waaay too much black pepper. Meat overdone, and bun & sauce reminded of McDonalds (not the price though). Milkshake quite tasteless, too... Cleanliness is OK, but...not great. Had to replace a broken chair. Won't come back.More
