Celebrated both my husband and i birthday here. Really nice restaurant and great view of the beach if your lucky to get a window seat. Food was pretty good and service was good too. Great for a special occasion as it is pricey bit worth...it!More

WE have visited Rustica numerous times over the past year and it never fails to deliver great service and food. Try and get there in daylight hours to enjoy the spectacular view.

Great views, friendly and fast service. Good quality food. Scallops and pumpkin gnocchi great. Kids meals a little on the small side.

This was our first meal at Rustica but it certainly won't be our last. The entree (Aranchini Balls) were surprisingly even more delicious than we expected. We opted for the shared Lamb for a main, and we are still talking about it. We got dessert...as well and while it was good we can't really remember it, which only means it wasn't the hero of the experience. We highly recommend Rustica as an all round great restaurant experience. Food, location, atmosphere, service were all really great.More

We decided to book this restaurant for our staff Christmas night out and I am so pleased that we did. I only ever write reviews when I think that something is worth it and Rustica most definitely is. We decided to go with the menu...as opposed to the banquet as we had been given a tip that the Lamb Shoulder was the absolute best and I must say that it most certainly lived up to and exceeded all expectations. Each plate whether large or small was full of flavour. As this was our first time to Rustica we did not quite know how many plates to order so we choose a selection of small, large and then of course Flash Larry's chips and we absolutely loved every morsel. It was also my husbands birthday and we took a cake which the staff were very happy to plate up for us served with ice-cream for a small fee which value for money was exceptional. Overall we loved this place, the wait staff could benefit from a little more training ie: they could have been a little more perceptive but once you had their attention they were on to it. This is now our new favourite restaurant and we cannot wait to go again. I was most surprised by the bill, it was the best value I think that we have ever received, Thank you for making our staff Christmas night so special. I'm planning our next visit!More

We are a gay couple and have eaten here many many times, in fact you could say that this is our favourite restaurant in all of Newcastle. You go here for two reasons, the amazing food and the fantastic views. Last night the food was...at its usual best and we did eat early so the views were in their full magnificance. However sad to say that the woman in charge was an absolute horror. When we entered she turned around and barked "Do you have a reservation?" Not a hello just this demand. Of course we had a reservation and we were shown to our seat. Now the seating at Rustica can be interesting. Everyone wants the view and not all can. We had a table for two where the one with the view gets to sit on a long bench that faces the view. Your partner unfortunately sits opposite with his back to the view. Unless of course you are one of the favoured few who for some reason get two tables pushed together and both patrons can sit next to each other and both look toward the view. This was not the case for us. So at the conclusion of our meal ($200 by the way) we were still drinking our cocktails and not having had a chance to see any of the view i went and squeezed in next to my husband and relaxed with the rest of my drink, the view and of course the closer company of my husband. There were no customers sitting at the table next to us at the time I moved but they did come and sit down fairly soon after. Not too much longer on the welcoming woman makes an appearance and asks me to move due to Covid restrictions. Like all of us I understand Covid, the law and restrictions but I noticed that I was no closer to the couple next door than they were to the couple on the other side of them and they magically were allowed to sit together. Ok two things to the management of Rustica. Train your person in charge with manners and good hospitality skills. If she does not want to be there then get someone else. The two junior female staff were wonderful. Friendly, all smiles and chatty. They are the people you need at your restaurant. Secondly have a closer look at your seating arrangements. Your prices are already high and from my perspective well worth it, dont try to squeeze more seats in and ruin the ambience. My husband did enjoy his birthday dinner but again be careful of who you put where to do what job.More

There is limited parking in the streets to the back of where Rustica is situated. I managed to find a park in the section before you turn off into the paid parking for the Hotel. While in the restaurant also noticed people... More
