Outstanding seafood platter. Great service, although off to a slow start, were then very attentive. Remains containers were changed regularly, would have been nice if the finger bowl was as well. Food, can’t fault it, was delicious, fresh and presented beautifully

What a wonderful meal we had here! A warm welcome, varied menu, fabulous wait staff and the bestest seafood. We shared a seafood platter which was stunning - lovely fresh seafood cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Thank you Gary (owner who serves/speaks with diners)...we will be back.More

Do not go here unless you have hours to wait. We ordered, we’re patient and after waiting for one hour, asked where our oyster entree was, we were then told, “oh they’re out tonight” no one bothered to tell us. Poorly managed and untrained staff.

We are regular visitors to The Kingfish which is our favourite place for fish and chips. We had lunch today, 27th, and were very disappointed. I don't know what has changed but instead of the usual light crisp batter it was heavy and tough. Hope...they get back on track and this is a one off. I will give it another go and review accordingly. fingers crossed.More

When we arrived, we were asked if we knew about the alcohol service issue. We had no idea what they were talking about. Apparently, they can only serve alcohol in half the restaurant for whatever reason. We were seated in the part where we could...not have alcohol. As it was a birthday celebration, we all wanted to have a drink and when we booked, no-one mentioned this fact. It was a bit late at this point to try to get a booking elsewhere on a Saturday night. We were told that we could have 105% off and sit at the bar to have a drink! I was fairly annoyed and I think it showed as the waitress came and said that we could have another table in the part where we could have a drink (a table for four that a chair could be added), but we had to be out in 1 hour as there was another booking. Everything has to be ordered at the bar, no table service. Get your own water. We had time for dinner, not time for coffee or dessert. We were told that the other people had arrived and we would need to leave. Parking is atrocious now in town. Food was fine. Not spectacular. We spent a fair bit of money for a very disappointing night. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend. Totally annoyed that this happened. They should be up front, sot that people can make an informed decision. Poor form.More

We had high hopes after seeing the photos on line . We ordered oysters Kirkpatrick..... they were served cold ... we asked for them to be hot they came back very apologetic with three extras .... with burnt bits of some very plastic tasting bacon...? On top , no flavour whatsoever, these would be easily the worst Kirkpatrick we have ever had . Greek salad ? No flavour at all except for some watery dressing, the Moreton bay bugs with garlic were average and the barramundi not up to the pictures, best thing about this way overpriced meal was the chips and the young ladies serving . Will definitely be not going back .More

From entry to departure took all of an hour and a half. Good service, filling and tasteful meal. The salmon skin could have been cooked a little bit longer however that is but a minor complaint. Overall it was a pleasant meal at a reasonable...price Meals were fresh and staff friendly. RecommendedMore

The Kingfish has the the most excellent seafood platters (vegan platters especially) that we've experienced in Newcastle! The staff are incredibly accommodating and eager to please. My partner and I have been coming to the Kingfish for a while now as it has a beautiful...view of the harbour, it's a quick walk from Stockton ferry and it's vibe is honestly on point! I cannot recommend the Kingfish enough, and now that they've opened up their space with extra gelato...well why would you go anywhere else? Is there a six star rating?More

My husband and I walked in off the street (in our tee shirt and shorts) last Saturday night. Kingfish was packed! Gary the owner made us feel like VIPs. He found us a table and was SO welcoming. The salads are deliciously fresh, staff are...amazing and the view is magnificent. I recommend the White Bait, cocktails and battered fish. You need to try this place for yourself! FULLY recommend for any occasion.More

Overall experience was disappointing. Staff greeted us as soon as we walked in the door, showed us to our table and informed us that we had to order and pay at the register. We were excited to try this place, ordered garlic flatbread and baby...octopus for starters/entrees then mornay Moreton bay bugs and battered Australian barramundi fillet for mains. The food was overpriced and poor quality. I could have gotten the exact same meals from my local fish & chip shop for cheaper and it would be equal or even a bit better quality. All of the food was unseasoned and bland. We’ve eaten more fresh, flavoursome and greater quality seafood at an Australian cuisine restaurant in Lake Macquarie than this place. The chairs were horrible. The only positives about this restaurant is the location, views and their cocktails are great! More than likely will not dine here again.More
