Not only was the food fresh and full of flavour but the service was prompt (without being pushy and we know this has a fine line) and friendly. The coffee was excellent and all our meals met our high expectations. We used to go to Eurobar until it closed and we were at a loss to find a good replacement. I think this ticked the boxes for us (and, from the numbers there, lots of other people too!) We're not huge eaters so shared a...chicken Korma Roti. It was very good and it seemed to be a popular choice for others that day. Staff were friendly and efficient. We'll go there again.More

Great breakfast menu! It is so comprehensive I defy anyone not to find a scrumptious option. Service is great, tables are well spaced, coffee is good and nice clean amenities available. Separate waiting area for take away coffees ensures the cafe is not crowded.

Went here for Mothers Day. The food is excellent. Beautifully presented and tasty with a good selection. Coffee is good and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Went there with my daughters for brunch. Low carb and vegan options. Food came out looking very tasty and we were not disappointed. The staff were great and eager to ensure we could get nice vegan and low carb options. Coffee outstanding. Portions average but...enough to fill you up.More

The food was underwhelming for the price that they charged. However the ambience and service was excellent. We ordered the buddha bowl and veggie brekky. The Buddha bowl’s flavour palette was all over the place, notably the chickpeas weren’t seasoned at all and it felt...like the dish started every East Asian food on the planet without any consideration for the cohesion. However, the Sweet potato chips were good. Veggie brekky - the portion size was too small for even one serving. There were only 4 elements (of which the main element was a sliver of fried eggplant).More

Just walked in to mockingbird cafe. Very busy - 90% of seating occupied. We signed in via QR code - then entered. Waitress told us to wait outside. Others behind us entered code - walked in but none were told to wait outside like us....Very windy cold morning. 4 people already seated at table in front of doorway were moved to a table as they were affected by wind draft. New customers waited behind us. I was instructed to go to wind draft table - it was dirty and I asked the waitress to sanitise it before placing glasses and items on our table. The waitress grabbed a serviette and brushed over table and walked away. The patrons behind us were told to go inside to the cosy table at the back. We felt very uncomfortable and the hospitality was clearly selective. Our appearance easily stood out from the majority of the crowd. If you are an out of Towner or appear to look like one - definately don’t make this your early morning stop. Or for that matter don’t make the mockingbird cafe at Newcastle any time of the day stop🙄🙄🙄More

Loved it! Enjoyed all meals at table - corn fitters, taco's and the bacon and egg... The fritters were next level delicious - coffees were great as well. One thing I especially enjoyed was the order everything came out in was correct and with very...little wait considering it was such a busy cafe.More

Went out for breakfast this morning. Was completely dis satisfied. Waited quite a while to be attended to at the door. We finally got seated then we waiting a substantial amount of time to get menus and have our orders taken. 3 tables came in...after us and got seen to before us. I ordered the mocking bird breakfast. Inside my poached egg was what looked like a hair of some form. I took the breakfast back and asked not to receive any food in return. I had one of the male staff come over and apologise in a very friendly manner and asked again if I would like anything else in return to which I replied with no thank you. Then a female staff member came over and persisted to agrue the fact that it wasn’t a hair. We made the conscious decision to leave the cafe. As we were paying for the remainder of the food, the female staff member brought the chef out proceeded to wave her hands up and down laughing and stating ‘looks she’s female, see she’s female’. Whilst we were trying to leave, I’m absolutely appalled by this behaviour of your customer service people. I appreciate not having to go any for the mocking bird breakfast but the manner that it was carried out in was absolutely appalling.More

The prawn toast was just outstanding. In my opinion the poached eggs distracted from the umani flavoured toast. The turmeric latte had a ginger and cinnamon taste. V. good. Excellent service. Very safe COVID rules in place.

We are locals and LOVE this place. We have tried almost everything on the menu over time. Fabulous food, excellent service, great coffee. Do yourself a favour and try it out.:)
