Great breakfast with friendly staff. We will be back. Can’t wait to try the muffins, lemon tart, brownies and pastries we bought for morning tea.

The coffee was very nice and we had fig and walnut sourdough which was lovely. The staff were warm and friendly and we would have No hesitation is returning.

Got tempted with the Bagels, and O.M.G Delicious - Toasted with Cream Cheese. I need to...walk the Harbour to walk off the goodness.... NO REGRETS.... Owners are lovely, and the Bonus are all the Puppos that are also welcomed.More
Across the road from Rydges. Great coffee and customer service.Offers breakfast. Opens early. Convenient location
Stopped in here for breakfast as I was stopping at Rydges across the road. The food was fantastic with absolutely superb value. I can't recommend highly enough
Great coffee, friendly staff . Tables always cleaned and very good prices for breakfast. I love going here for a quick coffee after the gym
We stayed for a couple of nights in a nearby hotel and our first visit to this great little cafe made it our favourite go to place for coffee. The freshly prepared food is excellent too, but the coffee really hit the spot with us....Service was delightful, plenty of smiles and an eagerness to please. Check the opening hours, we were out of season and mid week and at that point the cafe closed in the late afternoon.More
We were staying across the road at Rydges Newcastle and wanted something different for breakfast, rather than normal hotel food. Just 50m's away was 'One Picket Fence'. Staff were happy and welcoming, our coffee's and breakfast of 'Savoury mince on sourdough' & 'Poached eggs with...tomatoes on sourdough', were ordered. Coffee arrived and we enjoyed the distinctly strong flavour with our mains arriving shortly after. Yep, we would return without any arm twisting, with the added bonus of wifi in the cafe.More
We were staying at Rydges for one night and popped into One Picket Fence for a takeaway coffee before our morning walk along the boardwalk. The staff were friendly & the coffee was hot & strong - made us walk much faster!! LOL I later...went back to get a milk shake & egg & bacon roll which were also great.More
This is a great little cafe for breakfast with a great menu and excellent food. Their only downfall was their coffee. Very bitter and spoilt what should have been a great experience. Please guys change your coffee supplier.
My partner and myself stopped in for breakfast. Staff were friendly and food was okay. I had the blueberry pancakes with maple syrup, they could have used some berry compote to make them a little less dry when eating but were certainly not bad! My...partner had scrambled eggs with halloumi and said they were ‘alright’. Coffee was good and the cafe was within a good walking distance to water. All in all not a bad breakfast experience.More
Lovely welcoming staff at this great spot! Got a nice clean high chair, very helpful and accommodating. We had a veggie wrap and veggie roll and both were fresh, wholesome and yummy! Great coffee and reasonably priced!
I will come straight out and admit it, I’m totally biased about One Picket. When I worked in Newcastle it was my local and now every time I end up back in Newcastle I always seem to find a reason to have to visit. Ange...and her team are rockstars with their passion and dedication showing through from the coffee to the food and their amazing attitude to ensuring every single person who wanders in is treated with respect and kindness. The food menu is brilliant and while I’m a sucker for the corn fritters I can pretty much guarantee anything you order will taste like mana from heaven. On my last visit I changed it up and ordered the bubble and squeak and damn! So good! They also make the BEST hot chocolate in Newcastle. And while I’ve not tried every hot chocolate in Sydney I’ve yet to find anyone who compares.More
I've been here a few times over the years and the staff have always been friendly and efficient. Located near the Honeysuckle foreshore it seems to be mainly frequented by the workers of the surrounding businesses. On my last visit I grabbed my usual double...shot macchiato. Pricing was as expected for Newcastle. It was immediately obvious that the water is way too hot - my coffee was undrinkable for a good while until it cooled. I suspect that the coffee was drawn too quickly as well, because the result was a somewhat bitter brew, lacking in complexity and body. If you are rushing to work and need a caffiene fix, this place might hit the spot. To produce a better coffee, One Picket Fence needs to slow down and experiment with grind vs cooler water temperature.More
Expensive and average food, I had scrambled eggs and they were very dry. We asked for a piece of bread and got charged $4 for it. Staff was friendly and good location
