We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The venue is quite simple in design & decor. It has an area out the back on the levee which looks inviting. Unfortunately, there were too many birds around & it was very hot so we ate inside. Service was prompt & polite. We ordered the pumpkin salad which looked amazing. However, it was overdosed with balsamic vinaigrette dressing which ruined the dish. We barely ate half of it. Upon paying we told the head female staff member about the salad & their response was “sorry about that, I’ll let the kitchen know… would you like it packed into a container so you can take it away”. We declined. The crumbed lamb cutlets were quite tasty. However, there were only two cutlets with a handful of chips & a small salad which for the pricing of $32 seemed rather expensive compared to what you can get in Sydney. The coffees we had were very enjoyable. Overall we found this place to be slightly disappointing.

We visited for breakfast. The decor and atmosphere is inviting and relaxed. Wait staff were friendly. Food was delicious and generous servings. Menu does cater to most food intolerances. Indoor dining, or out front on lovely wooden tables, or outside in the courtyard overlooking the Hunter River.Highly recommend this little gem!

First visited here several years ago. The first thing that struck me was excellent Service, not only quick but thoughtful and caring. An unusual selection of great items not only to eat but drink too. But here's the plus part. Caring staff, full explanation of all the various choices. This Cafe is not only located on the riverside, but has a Magnificent Real Orange Tree! At certain times of the year you can purchase, freshly picked oranges squeezed into the most delightful juice. Always, attentive, Always Great meals and Always Great Service. SIMPLY THE BEST!!!

Friday morning breakfast outside which was lovely. Staff were attentive and polite. I had the Eggs Benedict with bacon and it was delicious. Other members of the group said their food was also spot on. Good coffee, quick service, generous but not over the top serving sizes. If it is a nice day choose to sit outside out the back. There is a huge orange tree in the courtyard and a lovely garden. All in all a lovely cafe, super staff and great food.

Found a breakfast offering that was a little different. After strolling around Maitland looking for breakfast we decided on The Orange Tree. I've been here for lunch before, but breakfast is where it's at. My wife ordered the corn fritters which were delicious, whilst I got the beef brisket benny (pictured) with perfectly poached eggs, Jalapenos and I think it was harissa hollandaise. Yummo!!! The stuffed mushrooms also looked quite nice. They offer fresh cold pressed juice (like the Ginger Ninja I ordered) and the surprisingly nice avocado smoothie (with broccoli of all things). Service was great. Food was fantastic. And we scored the bench looking out over the river which was nice. Prices reflected the quality and we won't need lunch. We will definitely return to try more.

Such great food. Loved the outside views or the river. Staff were friendly. However, I asked to swap out something for something else which they said no during peak times, but they were happy to charge me for the extra and still not have the mushrooms. I also dont understand why they have a sign out the back, but no rear access. It’s misleading. If they fixed these couple of things, I would have given 5 stars.

Dropped in on spec for breakfast with the wife. Hadn't been for a while. Quickly reminded of how good the service is. Then the excellent food reinforced the good memories. Won't stay away as long again. They say it's the little things you remember. Being a veteran tea drinker it was heartening to be told by the wait staff that the tea had just been made and I should let it brew a bit. Can't remember that happening anywhere else. Oh, and did I mention the food? A cook who knows how to handle eggs properly is a welcome change. Nicest omelette I can remember in a long time. And the river bank seats on a nice day are spot on.

We were looked after by a very welcoming staff member; enjoyed a big brekky omelette and coffee in the courtyard outside. Great experience.

I’ve been coming to the Orange Tree Cafe regularly for the last few months for breakfast and have always had a amazing experience whenever I go!! Charlene and the staff both in the kitchen and behind the counter have always been friendly, approachable and welcoming; it’s made the cafe feel like home every time I go! They serve the best and I mean THE best Bacon and Egg roll (little tip…add a hash brown to it and it goes to the next level!!) in the Hunter Valley region!! They make the best coffee in town too!! If you’ve never been to the Orange Tree Cafe then do yourself a favour and head in for breakfast or lunch and if it’s a beautiful day, sit in their outside dining area overlooking the beautiful Hunter River; you won’t regret it!

Lovely lunch with a friend today. Very, very COVID safe & strictly adhered to. I had the Bacon & Gruyere Quiche with fries & salad. While my friend had the Loaded Fries with Liquid Cheese & Onion Rings for $15!!! Excellent value! With 2 large coffees $43 all up. Love my trips to The Orange Tree & will definitely be back.

We had a lovely lunch in the back garden of The Orange Tree yesterday. After checking in, we opted for a seat outdoors overlooking the glorious Hunter River. We were seated and tendered to promptly by friendly staff. While breakfast service had finished, we found there to be plenty to choose from the regular and specials menu. We opted for the grilled Atlantic salmon and traditional chicken snitzel and they were very generous portions providing excellent value for money. We enjoyed the afternoon sun, people and puppy watching, and views along the Riverside Walk. We can’t wait to go back for breakfast, lunch or even takeaway in future.

My husband and I had lunch today - we sat outside in the back courtyard. My husband had crumbed lamb cutlets, chips and salad. I had roasted pumpkin quiche with chips and salad with a apple/banana/leech/mango juice. It was cloudy and sprinkle of rain but not enough to move inside. The meals were huge so much so that we had a container to take our salads home. Service was very good and everything cooked to order with fresh ingredients

4 friends had lunch today snd the food was beautiful. The Haloumi fries were beautiful as was the chilli prawn avocado salad, the Atlantic Salmon and the Scotch Fillet steak with either mushroom or pepper sauce. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. We would definitely return.

I have had breakfast here a few times now and my god it’s delicious. The portions are huge, ingredients fresh, lots of variety and I have enjoyed every visit. My favourite is the big veggie breakfast (I’m not a veggie but really love all the items in this breakfast). The coffee is great too. I highly recommend, especially if you can bag a table outside.
