Not all that glitters is...

Relatively new, flashy and glitzy with glass walls and polished metal...but not all that glitters is... Drink prices on par with pubs, meals $25 and up. It’s a large menu but not all dishes are executed well. Forget the Chinese short soup and prawn cocktail but the curry was sensational. That old favourite the chicken schnitty was dry and abrasive, even with a sauce at extra cost. The Singapore noodles, on the other hand, was genius on a plate. Orders are taken and meals delivered efficiently but that’s the last you’ll see of them. For some reason, the waitresses won’t clear away the used dishes till the party leaves the table. No enquiry about the meal, therefore, or an offer of something else. Bit McDonaldsy.

STAFF’S WERE GOOD & HELPFUL.

Dined in here on our last day in Batesmans Bay. Attending restaurant staff was attentive to our dietary needs and we faced no problem at all. Plenty of parking. No entry free. Just ID. Food quality could be better. Dishes we ordered were all very bland. But we could have been just there on the night the Cooks had an off night. Other than this, all went well.

Nice view disappointing food.

Went for dinner 2 nights in a row. The waitresses are pleasant and fast. Main course arrived while I was eating my entree so perhaps too fast. Barramundi was a tiny piece the first night. On the second night a had plain schnitzel. When I said I didn't eat corn the waitress picked it off my plate with her fingers. She brought me back pumpkin and boiled potato (both nice). The Schnitzel however was dry as week old toast and the broccoli was stone cold. I think the cook or chef is the problem here.

Lady at the front was friendly and helpful and the good service stopped there. My husband ordered a $22 lamb hamburger with salad instead of chips and singapore noodles without prawns, this was apparently hard as the lady was not impressed with this simple request. The hamburger came on its own on a huge plate with nothing else and was fairly average. Didn’t feel welcome at all in this place. All we ask for is polite people and happy to pay good money for decent food.

The wait time was over 55 minutes. My son in law ordered a $40 steak, which on the menu stated how it was to be cooked- medium to medium rare, he asked for medium rare. When it came it was on the well done side of medium, at best. After waiting so long for our meals, he ate what he could. At the end of the night we asked to speak to the manager, he was to busy to speak to us (apparently). The lady who did speak to us was quite nice, but just couldn’t understand why we didn’t bring the lack of quality of the steak to their attention earlier. If we had, we would have to have been who knows how long for another to be cooked. She had seen the steak we sent back, and agreed with us about how it had been cooked. She would not even offer a slight refund, on the steak only, due to the amount that had been eaten. This service was so bad and disappointing that we will never return. My daughter and son in law are locals, and like us will never come back here again. It was our granddaughters 6th birthday, so this was a very sorry end to her special day.

Don’t usually leave reviews but felt like I had to. Tried to book a table at 530 so we could get in and out with a tired 2 year old. Thought no worries got there at 5pm early thought we would have a nice drink at bar after a long day. And that’s when it started said we couldn’t order a drink from the main bar as your not allowed kids near there so was like ok wel wait but stupidest thing I’ve seen and from a rsl club. So had to wait for 30 mins at the front of cue waiting for open dying of thirst. At 540 they opened and two other couples pushed in front on a seperate cue then we were seated. As seated they then said wel come back and take ur order. We waited another 30 mins and at 610 we were served as 20 people in lower area was served 1st and other two couples had pretty much had there meals and ready to go. We ended up getting the food takeaway at 650 as 1 year old fell asleep at high chair. Probably the worst experience ever had and service horrendous. Have staff who know what they are doing and serve people in an order otherwise it’s chaos. The highlight of the evening was walking out down the door won’t be back not family friendly

Amazing food and lovely service

We had dinner there a Saturday night and food was sensational. We ordered mango salsa scallops and garlic cheesey pizza for starters. The mains were garlic creamy prawns with rice, salt and pepper calamari as well as middle eastern spiced prawns with salad. Omg, the prawns were so big and fresh. There were 9 pieces of fresh ( not frozen) large prawns. The scallops were so fresh and delicious. The middle eastern spiced prawns were so much of flavours. Every single dish was yummy and the service was amazing. Being a Saturday night, we only waited for 10 minutes for our starters and staff were very attentive too.

What a fabulous club with great meals

We had lunch at the club 3 times and every meal was so delicious. One day we had the lunch special, roast lamb with roast veges. It was absolutely scrumptious, a huge meal and only $15 for seniors. Another day we had the Queensland prawns which were so fresh and rather large. They even give you a bowl of lemon water to rinse your hands chow good is that. You got 8 large prawns for $22 with a really nice seafood sauce. Would certainly recommend. Staff delightful.

Great place for a meal

Could not rate this more highly. We went here on a very busy night when there was a show on and wanted to have dinner there were no free tables available. However, one of the ladies went to have a look for us to make sure there wasn’t anything free. When there wasn’t, she told us to go and buy a drink at the bar, and she called us as soon as there was a free table, we got a phone call about 10 minutes later saying that our table is ready. The service was excellent. The food was delicious and came out really quickly and was good value. Thank you for a great meal and great service.

Recommended to make a booking. Our minds were blown that they didn't take bookings for 7pm and beyond and that we just needed to turn up and try our luck. This was on a Thursday night. Nonetheless, they were upfront about a wait time (which was said to be 20 minutes before someone would be over to take our order), we weren't in a rush so the wait was fine. I have many dietary requirements (DF, GF, NF, and Fructose Free) and the waitress seem to understand the changes I wanted to make to the meal I wanted. All the meals were massive and absolutely gave value for money. They were delicious as well. The night we were there they had live music which was fabulous.

Gem of a club

Stylish, bayside club with a great atmosphere, fantastic food and unmatched service. My Wife and I were on holiday at Batemans Bay and called in for afternoon cocktails. We decided to stay and dine in the Bistro but had no reservation however we were immediately seated and promptly served our starters of prawn cocktail and duck spring rolls which were beautifully presented. Next we both opted for the blackboard offering of beef cheeks which we had once before in a 3-hat restaurant and these were easily equal to if not better. Definitely on our list to return here as we believe it cannot be beaten on the South Coast of NSW

Very Disappointed !!

As we were staying at the Esplanade we decided to have Dinner at the Club . We were disappointed to find that the Club Bistro is now part of the Restaurant , What was the Bistro is now a Bar , there is still a Coffee Shop . I asked if we could see a Menu as I was looking forward to having a Roast , however I was informed that they no longer do Roasts ! In fact the Menu had changed completely with none of the regular "Club " meals that were very popular . We left and a had a great Meal elsewhere . just for comparison we had Meals at the Goulburn Workers Club and the Blacktown Workers Club this week and the Food was excellent , including the Roasts , and the Blacktown Workers Club , Grange Buffet . Both Clubs are providing their Patrons with Food that they want and at great prices . I suggest that Club Management take a trip to these establishment and see what other Clubs are doing to Cater for their members , because I don't think they are catering for Members and Locals at the moment .

Tasteless, thrown together noodles and chicken for Pad Thai. YUK.

Tried to order food 9 min before the kitchen closed. Was reminded how little time was left until I had to order and was only allowed to order off the Asian menu. - not accurate with their advertisements. Quickly ordered a fav, Pad Thai. The food arrived with bland cooked noodles, grilled chicken pieces, a tiny bit of carrot and some lettuce which shouldn’t be there. Absolutely minimal flavour with what tasted like a thrown together noodle and chicken dish. Tasteless and bad service at the counter. Made me feel like I was intruding and causing an issue by ordering. Never again. Absolutely tasteless food. Also visually not appealing or have the dark pad Thai colour. I never write reviews but this was VERY much a waste of money and time.

Enjoyable meal and nice club

We came with kids and grandparents and had good quality meals. Schnitzel was good size, price & quality. The other highlights for the group were the salt & pepper squid salad and the Vegetarian pasta. Bookings are a must during holiday periods as it was quite busy around the 5-7pm time.

Roast beef lunch - best in years

We went for lunch at the Vue 180 Restuarant and we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the roast beef lunch we ordered. Haven't had such a good quality bought roast meal in years. The couple behind us had something different and they too complimented the chef on how good the meal was.
