Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had been looking forward to staying at this newly renovated art deco hotel. First impression was nice, lovely lady on reception, car park very hard to find & not secure. Our room was very small - luckily only staying one night. Had reservations for...dinner in the restaurant. Menu looked great and the food was nice but not worth the exorbitant prices. Wine started at $70 to $2,000 a bottle!!! Then when we got the bill they had charged for a dessert we hadn’t had and it was an effort to get a new bill printed. Still not sure when we checked out that it was correct. Armidale is dead so if Tattersalls want to survive they need to look at their prices & ensure all staff follow personal hygiene - not pleasant when you’re eating! However the staff & wine in the rear garden were very nice.More

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Tattersalls on a busy Saturday night in August. The staff were friendly and attentive, the service of a good pace, and the menu and wine list extensive. We felt that the main meals were slightly over-priced for the quality,...but otherwise enjoyed our meal and would return.More

If you are in Armidale, do not go past this place. It must be one of the best pub restaurants/bars in Australia. Beautifully decorated and restored in the Art Deco style, it has an airy feel while being intimate at the same time and it's...a feast for the eyes and Uber cool. The staff are attentive and friendly and the prices are fair for the quality of food on offer. The menu is a cut above 'pub food and the choices are interesting and eclectic, in that the selections are broad and diverse, there really is something for everyone. The seafood is fresh as it comes in fresh from Coffs Harbour ( two hours away) and of course, their meat is sourced locally. So all it all a real find and if you are visiting be sure to say hello to Rheece the manager.More

More fine dining than country pub. The food and service here are excellent with a pretty good wine list. You'd be pretty fussy if you couldn't find something on the a la carte menu. The decor only accentuates the dining experience. A great venue for...a quality meal or special occasion.More

This place is amazing. The atmosphere and decor is just wonderful. Charming young waiter, fantastic service, extensive drink list, and food second to none you'd expect in the most expensive city restaurant. I had a delicious linguine and my husband a lamb rump, with ice...cold beer on tap.More

Dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful evening! From start to finish, the service was professional, yet friendly and engaging. All the food was absolutely delicious with two dishes standing out - impeccably cooked pan fried Japanese scallops with butternut squash...puree and brown butter & sage and a brilliantly executed medium - rare Scotch fillet with red wine jus from the Josper oven. There is clearly a talented crew in the kitchen! The overall experience was enhanced by an interesting and fairly priced wine list, which included some Australian classics and international gems. The restaurant's manager Rhys and his enthusiastic young team are doing a brilliant job. We are certain to return!More

Excellent table service, thé menu is sophisticated and well priced taking account the quality of ingredients. The duck confit is genuine and not plain roasted duck. The wine is excellent and crème brûlée and panna cotta were delicious. The Art Deco setting is worth the...trip, recently renovated from top to bottom luxury. It is our second visit and we shall be back.More

We wanted a special dinner for my husbands 45th birthday. I worked my way through the top recommendations on TripAdvisor but realised most of the top ones had had poor reviews recently. On the other hand, Tattersalls was a bit of the way down the...list due to a lower number of reviews, albeit with a consistently high score. So we gave it a go and we NOT disappointed! It is at a high price point but the food really was outstanding. My husband ordered the mixed grill with a side of balsamic asparagus and the mushroom/truffle sauce. Honestly, it became some of the best mouthfuls of food I’ve ever eaten. I had a cured salmon dish which wasn’t exactly as the waitress described but really delicious nonetheless. Our desserts were also delicious, with the crème brûlée a stand out, and we appreciated the birthday decorations on my husband’s nougat semi freddo. Highly recommended for a special occasion and such a beautiful room!More

Multiple issues with the service. Our visit didn’t start well. There were a number of groups waiting to be seated and general confusion and delays in getting us to our table. Despite making the booking days in advance, we were taken to a table that...didn’t have enough seats or place settings for our party. Staff made one guest stand around while they rushed about trying to find a spare chair in a back room instead of taking from the empty table next to us..or seating us at one of the many other tables with sufficient seats. We eventually found our own chair. We were excited about the menu but only told after ordering that multiple items we’d ordered were actually not available that night. It would have been no issue if we’d been told when we arrived but disappointing to get excited about a meal only to be told it wasn’t available. There was also a general lack of knowledge and understanding about the menu. The sparkling water we ordered was poured and then taken away from the table never to be seen again. We requested a 2nd bottle but glasses weren’t poured initially or ever topped up. Some drinks we ordered arrived 15 minutes after others. Gin and tonics had no limes. No one ever checked on us. Some plates were removed at end of meal but others stayed there for another 15 minutes and we needed to work around them to pay the bill. Food we did receive was amazing but customer service issues took away from overall experience. In order for service to match the quality of the food and the beautiful setting, staff need more training, supervision and experience.More

The old Tatts Hotel has had a major face lift and it is very nice. I booked online and mistakenly booked for the bar cafe rather than the restaurant, but easily fixed. First impressions ....staff ignored us. We were two couples, suitably dressed and when...we entered we were ignored. I had to intercept a waitress to request a table. Second impression staff continued to ignore us ....eg: I had to ask for water, twice. The meals were delicious although one request for "well done" was very rare. Either a stubborn chef or the staff didn't pass the request on. It was a special birthday celebration and I was prepared for the hefty bill but the lunch was spoiled by the poor service. You advertise "world class". Do better!More
