I was surprised that this place was rated as high as it was. We ordered a dahl and a tandoori mixed platter and I have never had bad tandoori- this was tasteless and soggy and the I usually never met a dahl I didn't like until this time. I like Indian food and have been to India 4 times but... More

After spending 5 glorious days in Queenstown & eating at some fine establishments, my wife & I decided to try The Spice Room as my wife is from London & has enjoyed many authentic Indian cuisines. First thing we noticed was the run down & dated decor. All the seats were ripped & looked like that came from a roadside... More

We ordered take away to dine at our lodging during our stay in QT. Being Indians, we were craving for Indian food after 2 weeks in NZ. To be frank, the food was Ok - we had perhaps high expectations from the reviews or we were comparing to food back home. Good food but not awesome Indian !

Our Indian cabbie told us this is his favorite restaurant, so we decided to try it and were glad we did. The food was very good, and the service was good too. The portions were generous for two of us. We would definitely return to this restaurant if we visit Queenstown again.

Affordable Indian place. Large portions. Food was average. Service was just Okay. The young girl that was serving us kept picking at her nose. Not sure if the nose ring was itching or if she had a cold. 2.5 stars.

We chose this restaurant for dinner based on TripAdvisor ratings. We had a bit of trouble finding the place, as it is upstairs and had only a small sign out front on the sidewalk. We also had trouble finding parking, but that's generally true all over Queenstown. We ordered chicken tikka masala and bhuna ghost, with naan and pakora. All... More

It's just across from Henry's Supermarket, so we sneakily parked on their car park and sat in the window over at the restaurant in view of the car. Ordered two veg curries, which came with rice, plus we ordered a peshwari naan. Friendly staff, well priced, and good food.

One of the best place in Queenstown, if you are keen to try Indian cousine. I honestly feel glad that we decide on this restaurant on anytime we want real Indian spice's touch. From the friendly greeting on arrival to our last drink the staff were fantastic. Everything on the menu we had was 5 star.

We went here for my partners birthday with our 15 month old son. They had few toys and a high chair for him. The starters were delicious we had papadoms cooked like a waffle cone shape and the onion and spinach baiji the best I have had. My main was the seafood sensation and man it lived up to its... More

Lovers of Indian get used to eating compromised Indian food around the world and it is usually hard to find someone attempting the real thing. On the several occasions I have eaten at the Spice room there were local Indians eating there which while not necessarily an indicator of quality food ,in this case is it is. Handily that has...
