Delicious Japanese food which is beautifully presented - easy to get carried away by all the choices! Try sushi and sashimi plate to get a taste of both, spicy prawns with mayonnaise and pork dumplings also very tasty. Would definitely go back. Perhaps a little on the expensive side but this will depend on how you order. Try a selection... More

Expensive, and the food was not very good. Avoid this restaurant and go to Minami instead. We had a much better meal, with a much better atmosphere, for half the price at Minami.

I love Japanese food, but this one was a let-down, comparing the quality of food with the price, definitely not worth it. Been to so many japanese reataurant I can say only 2 were of my worst, this and another one in Melbourne. Would not recommend this restaurant, there are many other better options in Queenstown than this one.

'Hikari' means 'Light' in Japanese and that's not how we felt when we left. This is a well rounded authentic restaurant offering well portioned, flavorsome, traditional Japanese cuisine. On arrival the restaurant was half full, the decor is old world japanese with an open working kitchen manned by three chefs accompanied by three floor staff. The menu is abundant with... More

We went there in March. My wife ordered Hikari benti box with Teriyaki beef while I ordered Yose Nabe hotpot with oesters, squid etc. While my wife loved her dish, mine was probably a mistake. It was just boiled water with seafood inside to cook. Lesson learned: ask what the dish is about before ordering it.

Fancied a lunch with a bit of spice. Spicy ramen were excellent. Others ate Bento box lunch and enjoyed all the elements

It was snowing and we craved some noodle soup. This restaurant had good soup. The tempura with the soup was very light and we enjoyed it,

Nice food but tried to overcharge me on beer. When pointed out that price charged as against price displayed in menu it was apparently the cash registers fault. Hmm,

We had been dining out for a week and wanted something less saucy but satisfying. We were welcomed (you don't always get that) in and chose a $50 for two seafood platter. It was perfect. Tempura oysters, sashimi and a wide range of other choices. Generous wine glass serves, good atmosphere. We left feeling pleased that we had selected this... More

Best tempura we ever had. The chicken teriyaki was nicely done, everything was so nice and we had our best dinner during our stay there.
