This a popular place even on Tuesday night so we thought that a good sign. It was. Service was very good. Good size portions and the lamb shank is superb. Definitely worth stopping at.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were told we could expect a 20 minute wait for food- that was fine. The restaurant was far from full with one large group of 15 people. Over an hour later we finally got served, now this place is no silver service fine dining experience. Most dishes involve chips or potatoes so you'd... More

Drunken Steak was huge and basically served on top of a mushroom pie. Chimney Pot Shearer’s Shank "pie" was yum. Service was good and attentive. Lots of nice copper and wood. Great place on a cold evening. Deserts were not outstanding.

Only had drinks here on a couple of occasions. Found the staff - particularly the guy I assume to be the Duty Manager, to be quite pushy. This, coupled with the feeling that the meal prices were a few bucks dearer than the previous Speights we'd been to, meant we ate elsewhere.

Speights Ale House in Invercargill serves a great range of Speights beer which are delicious. It's a nice place to be but too manicured and maybe a little soulless. The staff were welcoming and we enjoyed good service. The food was decent but actually average in all ways. There was nothing wrong with the food but nothing that would make... More

Sleight's calls itself the pride of the South and rightly so. Located in the center of Invercargill it is great meeting place for beer and great food lovers. The bar is decorated tastefully in an antique style and the general atmosphere is very relaxing. The portions of food are huge, the beer great and spending a few hours here is... More

We had fish and chips and salmon for our mains, and creme brulee for dessert. The place seemed pleasant enough, as did the staff. Note that we sat on the second floor, and with the heat from downstairs wafting up, it could be a bit warm up there.

t was cold, wet and windy so we didn't want to walk far from our hotel to have dinner. This pub was closest and actually better than just ordinary. I tried the house special mid ale and it was cold and delicious with no bitter after taste. My wife tried their cider on tap and declared it delicious. Our dinner... More

Had dinner at this venue two nights in a row. Arrived late to Invercargill the first night, so was just happy to find somewhere with the kitchen still opened. I admit to not having high expectations when I walked in, however, I was totally wrong. Had a mussel dish followed by ribs, and the food was excellent. The staff are... More
