Booked dinner here ahead of the long weekend! Ordered the venison, mussels, the brussel sprouts and parsnips sides. All were extremely tasty. Both sides were exceptional! The venison was cooked very well and normally not a dish I would ordinarily pick. Service was also very friendly and an overall enjoyable dining experience!

Came across this cafe/restaurant when walking this morning. Such a nice menu, staff, coffee and the food was yummy. Definitely worth a visit.

Had a fabulous lunch here today. The mashed avocado on toast with bacon was perfect, with an interesting mix of greens, cherry tomatoes and a tasty dressing. The French toast brioche with pears and plums was also delicious. Finished off with a mouthwatering ricotta cake. The waiters were friendly and efficient. Will definitely try to go here again whenever I'm... More

After spending weeks travelling around New Zealand we were now in Dunedin and, sadly, scheduled to leave the following day. At No. 7 the service was friendly, the food very good and the wine selection excellent. Great way to say goodbye.

We enjoyed lunch at this delightful cafe after an urban hike from the town center. The cocktails are interesting and delicious, as are the entrees. If the weather allows, sit outside in the patio. Be sure to check out the beautiful vegetable/herb garden beyond the wall.

We go to Balmac pretty regularly and are never disappointed. Good coffee, tasty meals that cater to vegetarians well as well. Lovely to see more regular menu changes for those of us that eat there frequently. The cakes and baked goods are always excellent and the french donuts and ordinary donuts.. well.. lets just say you should make sure you... More

I had my graduation dinner here with a large group of family (25 of us). The service was excellent as well as the food and considering a large group all the meals were brought out together. However there seemed to be a misunderstanding about the NOT FREE sparkling water for the tables. There was no indication through out the night... More

No7 Balmac is one of the most consistent places to go in Dunedin. Always good food and service. Bit disappointing that we were not told sparking water was now free, the way that the waiter asked if we would like it suggested that it was. We ended up with a bill for the 7 bottles we had (we were a... More

The high quality of the ingredients is apparent, and their meats are free range and/or organic. Many of the vegetables and herbs are from the outside garden. The coffee is the best I've had in Dunedin. I had the mussel and clam fritters one day, and you could still taste the brine. Balmac breakfast is also delicious and nourishing. The... More

Whenever my husband and I travel to Dunedin a stop at this relaxing place is a priority because we know that the coffee and food are great, the staff are accommodating and friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. It's a great place and deserves its excellent reputation. We had a lovely vegetarian meal on Valentines Day. We are not Vegetarians... More
