This restaurant is attached to the Clearwater Golf resort. It has a beautiful view overlooking the 18th Green of the golf course. My wife and I went for lunch on a lovely autumn afternoon looking out onto the golf course, perfect. I ordered the caesar...salad which was a generous serving, apart from the chicken being a little overcooked and dry it was very good. My wife had the pasta and found it very good. A lovely lunch in a wonderful setting with excellent service. We will certainly be returning.More
Holy side of beef. I have never, repeat NEVER had a steak cooked this well before!!! Then there were the duck fat potatoes...and beautiful crispy fried onion rings. Oh mother!
My wife meal was equally delicious. You'd turn gay to marry the chef here in...a heartbeat.
11 out of 10. We are SO coming back here!!!More
We started by sharing a baked cheese entree which was very yummy and had plenty of freshly baked bread with it (GF and non GF). My wife then had the salmon special which was succulent and tasty. I had the fillet steak which was cooked...to perfection and the sauce was perfect. Oh yes, it came with potatoes that had been cooked in duck fat. Yummy.More
Nothing special on this menu that really wow's you. When our steaks came out they were almost cold and not cooked as we had asked. Could not be bothered sending it back as it already had taken it's sweet time to come out in the...first place. the dessert was nice but quite small for the price.More
I went with some friends and we had a fabulous meal. We began having drinks on the deck overlooking the golf course, followed by a meal that was simply delicious. The staff were attentive and the service was faultless.
A return back to the Lakes Restaurant at this wonderful Location.
The Lakes for us, has become a favourite place to dine and relax and has become a real favourite restaurant amongst the many restaurants that we try,
This visit, the service was, as usual..., very good while the food was overall , still very good too.
The salmon this time, was the Atlantic Salmon which was
a notch down on the usual New Zealand Salmon and was more a light pink colour and seemed a little dry to us.
It is easy to understand that on current prices for N,Z. Salmon that chef may choose to buy the lesser product.
Fair enough too, just maybe being a change in your offering, the menu should state the salmon as being Atlantic salmon.
The Entrée was the just the very best out for us with the cheese- a baked Camembert in a dish and bought out with toast plus the addition of the very delicious Fig and Pear chutney making for the best entrée experienced in a very long time.
I would say to my 100,000+ readers that this is a must try dish - good enough to entice us back several times just to enjoy this yummy dish.
To finish, the trio of sorbets turned out to be an ideal way to finish out meal - perfect.
To summarise, I feel that the Lakes although a little bit out of the way, is simply worth the effort just to enjoy the atmosphere and the food always at very good standards.
Do try the Lakes and see for yourself.
Note - either bring some cash or your eftpos card as there is a charge on credit card payments here.More
Went for dinner last night with a party of 8. We had booked so no surprise for them. The lack of attentiveness and poor waiting staff skills were by the end of the night viewed by us as a floor show. Food was tasty and...not over expensive. I think it might have been the "B:" team on duty though. None of us were offered a 2nd drink which was quite amazing. Isn't this where they make their money? Only gave a 2 star because the food was Ok even if a bit slow. Dessert took forever to arrive. Won't be going back. There are lots of better options out there. Also beware of the credit card surcharge.More
The Lakes out at the Peppers Clearwater Resort is fast becoming a very enjoyable habit and this time, I gave the Lakes a well deserved Rating of 4.5*s.
Our waiter is a regular and luckily for us, Mr. Llewellyn , sorry I am unable to...tell you his first name which is disappointing. Anyway, he made us very much at home, seated us without our asking at a window seat looking out over the golf course and lakes. Was very patient with our orders and made our day.
We ordered what turned out to be the best entree ever which was the Baked & rosemary infused camembert GFA 18 with toasted Bread, macerated figs, house chutney & smoked walnuts. It was amazingly good.
The main dish that we both ordered was the Grilled salmon DFA/GF 26
Yams, rocket, kale pesto, almond dukkha & sour cream . Very rich but again, the combinations worked so well.
Sadly, between sharing the entree and a main each , we were so well sated that there was no chance of having a desert, so will have to wait for the next visit back to the lakes. Dam!!
Notes - the Lakes charge a surcharge for credit card payments.
Having said all that, the Lakes for me is a must try for many occasions and the area next to the restaurant is a good place for a coffee stop if you are out walking for in the area.More
