We had a very good, straightforward Indian meal here. For starters we had the vegetable pakora, which were served remarkably quickly (so they must have been pre-cooked) but the batter was not greasy or heavy. I had my favorite Chana Masala, which was well spiced and the chickpeas were cooked to the correct consistency. My companion had the Mattar Paneer,... More

We were a group of eleven who arrived without a booking. A large table was organised immediately and iced water quickly provided. Our orders were taken quickly and our food soon arrived. We chose a variety of different dishes with poppadoms and naan breads. Rice for the table was plentiful and perfectly cooked. All individual dishes were proclaimed to be... More

We decided to spoil ourselves with the banquet. We were worried it would be too much food, however the entrees were lovely. The mains were even better, especially the butter chicken! Best one i've ever tasted! The naans were also delicious and we really enjoyed dessert! It was such good value and we are very happy we decided to get... More

Went with an old classic, lamb madras. Was different as in not over done with too much coconut cream, more like a rogan Josh type of sauce, perfect amount of spice. Service was prompt and not in your face. Recommend for a no fuss indian meal.

We ordered the onion bhajees and vegetable samosas for entree. These were filled with rice mixture and pretty stodgy. For main we had the Lamb Dansank and the Saag Scollops. the lamb was average however the scallops were geat.

This restaurant is a re-creation of the original Himalays Restaurant that was popular in Colombo Street before the earthquake. The service is good and the dishes are interesting and a little different from the norm in Indian restaurants. I will certainly return.

We chose the restaurant on the basis of recommendation from information in our motel. The food was well and promptly prepared and spicey enough to satisfy our foodie daughter - a veteran of over two years' travel in SE Asia and intolerant of anything bland. The roghan josh, keema and Peshwari naan were excellent, and everything was at least good.... More

Our first visit to the Himalayas and we got takeaways. The service was warm and friendly and the food was delicious. We are locals and very much looking forward to going back. Well done, keep up the great food.

The food was excellent with a depth of flavour that we haven't tasted in other restaurants. The service was great. We would certainly come back next time we're in Christchurch.
