Firstly the staff member assisting us was awesome! So friendly and helpful! We loved being able to just try what we liked at our own pace. Beautiful spot and definitely recommend a visit!

Great choices of wine at the cellar door. Basic and reserve wines. Soo much choice. Then went next door to the restaurant, staff were not overly welcoming but the food was great, this the rating.

We were greated with a "we are not open yet"- ok it was a few minutes before opening but no need to be rude. Then you had to order everything at the counter- again up there the staff were moaning because they had been so...busy and short staffed! The staff that came to the table were grumpy and made no effort to communicate Really dissapointed in the whole experience. We were going to order food but saw it and decided not to. Didnt look great.More

Pretty relaxed food service but well forewarned so we just chilled with our excellent wine. Food generally good but the consensus on the cheese board was “What? Why so small?” Three slivers for NZD 30 which is about the price of two mains. Then to...rub it in a platter went past with much more generous portions. “We weigh them. 30g each piece” my arse. Not particularly happy. So. Don’t order the cheese platter. It’s a rip.More

Stopped for lunch here, the burger and chips was really good, great spicy flavour and crunchy fries. Of course you can’t come here to eat without having a wine or 2. My flavour is the sav Blanc so overall a great place at a reasonable...price.More

Not sure if lack of business linked to Covid which links to lack of staff but.....this place has slipped. Adding the word Bistro doesn't really modify your profile guys. Order at the bar and retrieve your own cutlery!! Not even pub grub stuff. People around...us also complaining. Nothing wrong with the food. Its the service. There is less items with less sophistication... but still delicious. However, we were advised they have made the call to go with more of a boutique beer garden feel. So dumb......it will kill your brand. You guys used to be the "go to" place. Now.... you are just a cafe inside an awesome location. And..... you have only 3 beers, so that hasn't worked either, has it? It smacks of the first signs of a struggle.... but we were told the owner has sold it to someone (his son?) who wants to make changes. Hey, its your call but I urge you to think it through. Maybe I will look for a new favourite.More

Nice cool wine and delicious tapa type food. Our fave was the meatballs and duck pancakes! Beautiful outdoor setting. The service is a little chaotic and probably something that needs working on. Would be better if it was table service.

The meal was great after we had a tasting session. The atmosphere is different since the Bistro style was put into place but still lovely.

We chose to end our bluff to blenheim girls cycle trip at this vineyard restaurant in blenheim. Having been here previously following the graperide cycle race, and having had a sublime experience we thought we knew what we were getting. Very very different experience on...this occasion. Firstly, the service in the restaurant was chaotic, verging on fawltyesque occasionally, inspiring some conspiratorial guffawing. There were only 3 sets of customers in the restaurant, 2 couples, and our group of 6 ladies. Instead of table service we repeatedly went to the counter to order food and were constantly, repeatedly, hilariously asked what our table number was. For goodness sake! Getting drinks for the table required individual multiple trips to a pay as you go vending type operation, whose advantage was tasting opportunities, but whose disadvantages were toing and froing all the time by all of us. Not super relaxing. The food was very disappointing. A cold smoked salmon salad with (extra) halloumi was a bag of mesclun with packet salmon, an addition of a few fennel strands and an embarrassingly thin couple of halloumi slices. I could do better at home myself. In fairnesss, some food was nice but the menu (recently changed) was uninspiring....sort of pub food style. There was a new member of staff who tried hard but more established staff needed an more welcoming attitude...we were made to feel an encumbrance. All in all a very disappointing end to a great girls cycle trip through NZ.More

Wine and menu well worth a visit but one staff member was rude bordering on hostile. Beautiful gardens and enjoyed the wine but would not bother going back to such a frosty reception. We did not feel welcome. Menus were shoved at us and we...were told to find our own table. NOT friendly.... everything was a problem for this moody woman!More
