Stumbled across this after the movies once and it's a great little place in the middle of town. Not the cheapest fish and chips but they are good ones. Paid around $30 for two portions of fish, chips, a drink and two pineapple fritters. All good. It's popular with young and old. A tiny place mostly for waiting for your... More

We had burgers, chips and fish for four. Beef burger was very rare, to the point I didn't eat the patty. Good burger otherwise. Chicken burger was excellent and haloumi burger good. Fish was good but a bit overcooked - I would have preferred the beef over cooked to the fish. Chips are very good but the kumara chips were... More

We were glad to find Mt. Vic Chippery open for business the day after the recent earthquake in Kaikoura. They had a limited choice of fish that day, but it was extremely fresh. The breading was light, and the chips were very good as well. We were looking for local fish and chips, and decided to try them when a... More

Very tasty fish and chips, served in a strong cardboard container. Kept hot all the way back to hotel.

Despite a very limited selection of fish on the day of my visit, I was completely satisfied. Everything fresh, made to order (I prefer the Panko crumbed style), with very good sauces. Perfect, fat chips. Limited beverage selection.

This is probably the best fish and chip shop I have been to, there is a selection of fresh fish which you choose, a choice of batters & crumbs or grilled, a choice of sauces/dips and a great choice of sides. The food is served in boxes and there is ample seating to eat in the shop. It was so... More

Great food for a reasonable price. The porsion was big so it is possible to share if your not very hungry.

The Mt Vic Chippery is a fairly new edition to Mt Vic and became busy so quickly. The food is incredibly tasty and their handmade chips are to die for! The Haloumi burger was sadly taken off the menu but this was my all time favourite! Definitely the best fish n chips near the city!

Its worth the wait, an extremely busy shop but we take that as a goodie so we were happy to wait 45 minutes for our meal. Every mouthfull was worth it. While waiting we took a drive up Mt Vic, perfect view of the city lights - spectacular. Meal was easy to order and catered to individual needs. Choose your... More

Description
We believe The Chippery serves the best fish and chips and here's why...

We know where our fish comes from and it's super fresh. Our fish gets landed in Wellington regularly by our very own commercial fisherman and we work with other local suppliers to ensure quality and variety year round. Our oysters come from farms in Bluff and Marlborough and are absolutely delicious!

To make the best fish and chips we start with the best ingredients. We use the finest quality Wellington craft beer to make our batter. Our Agria chips are cut by hand.

When it comes to our burgers, our beef patties are also made by hand using grass-fed brisket. We use free-range pork shoulder and slow roast it for 12 hours to make our pulled pork burgers the best in town. Our Free-range eggs come from Wellington and make our delicious aioli and tartare sauces. We also use only the best free-range Waitoa Chicken on our menu.

We understand that some people are on a restricted diet and we offer a wide selection of gluten free dishes including a gluten free batter for our fish and seeded gluten free buns are available for our burgers. We even have a dedicated gluten free fryer; just remember to let us know which items you need cooking separately. The Chippery also offers plenty of vegetarian and vegan offerings. If you need anything special, just ask, we'd love to help.

We were the first fish and chip shop to use online ordering and offer a delivery service to 14 suburbs in the central Wellington area!

Welcome to the Chippery.
