Don’t let the info that this cafe is part of a chain put you off.
Open early, very warm inside and a warm welcome from all the friendly staff
I had the big breakfast - it was delicious and a very generous meal
Good coffee...too and one of the few places that actually knows what a cappuccino is (they have foam, guys).
This place delivered a warm welcome and great food on a cold morning.More
Last year when we visited we only had a coffee and chai but this time I had to have one of their attractive-looking caramel & nut slices as well. Wow. Very nice indeed. Deliciously sweet but not sickly, it hit the spot perfectly.
Of course...there were many other possible items in their cabinet and on their board menu but a slice was all that a grown man should have, I told myself.
Coffee and chai were as usual excellently created so our dining experience met the mark nicely.More
We arrived outside Robert Harris Taupo at 7.40am wanting to grab breakfast. There were 2 tables set up outside, 2 signs out, one saying 'open'.
As we walked to the door there was a female staff member putting out more tables and I stopped to...double check that they were open as there was a closed sign on the (open) door.
She bluntly said that they don't open til 8am and seemed very disinterested.
If the cafe isn't open til 8am, the tables and open signs shouldn't be out on the footpath til then or at least 5 to. Also, the staff member might want to practise some customer service. (I've worked as a CSR, it's not hard).
We went around to the water front and spent nearly $70 on brekky at a great cafe, that had awesome staff.
Up your game Robert Harris Taupo.More
