Undoubtedly the best place in Rotorua to go for breakfast. The backpacker special was the favourite amongst our group of friends, ask for baked beans too

We were heading somewhere else for breakfast but our motel recommended to try The Art Café. We are pleased we did. They have a cheap all day brekky but we chose to get the back packers special no 1. They also very kindly swapped my hash brown for baked beans. We were also able to get a hot choc., instead... More

I popped in here for a late breakfast before my Duck tour which is just down the road. It was lovely. Very clean, very comfy seating on sofas, and a great breakfast. Backpackers #1 with a great cuppa. Highly recommend it. I went back later for another cuppa because it was the best I had had in NZ so far.

My sister and I popped in to the Art Cafe for breakfast and it was well worth while doing so. It is an internet cafe geared more for the backpacker crowd I guess but it was warm and cosy on a very cold Rotorua morning. Had the Backpackers Breakfast Special 1 and it was wonderful. Perfectly cooked including the toast,... More

Food is good but service could do with some improvement i.e. maybe bring in one more staff member to help in the kitchen/serving as I find that when I have my breakfast here, it can take a while for the breakfast to come out. In saying that, once the food does come out for breakfast, it's delicious, wholesome and worth... More

The waitress was a one woman show when we stopped in here for breakfast. She was keeping up with the orders but seriously needed to have some help. In any case, we really did not have to wait long for her to take our order but my cup of cappuccino took a while. We both ordered the scrambled eggs with... More

The Art Cafe is a cozy and lovely place in the center of Rotorua. Ideally located, it offers a wide range of cake, meals options for your breakfast, beverages, etc. But I can't say I was delighted by it. It was pretty packed and the waitress seemed so busy that she really looked on panic. Hence, it is never great... More
