Went here for drinks with family. Both men like craft and wheat beers especially. both got what they wanted and the selection of beers was extensive.

Our family visited here on a trip from the UK. The food and service was very disappointing. Got the nachoes - they were very spicy and we found a hair in the mince! The manager was also very sexually aggressive towards my husband - completely unprofessional. Would highly recommend staying away, much better (and personable) places in Auckland.

I ordered the chicken and waffles which sounded amazing...however, the waffle was so dry and chewy, it seemed like it had been cooked the previous day. Very disappointing meal...the chicken was lovely.

We went there for dinner, but soon realized that this was a huge mistake. When we ordered our pizzas and asked if they could add pineapple as this was on some of the other pizzas on the menu, the waiter got very offended, gave a sigh of irritation and started shaking of anger and kept hitting the buttons on his... A good location, decent beers, nice popcorn and a pretty good pizza - all good things. The guy behind the bar (bald hair) is a little unfriendly though.

It's a little grungy, but a good solid Newmarket local that has a plethora of craft beers and plenty on tap. I recommend the steak sandwich.

We found The Lumsden while looking for a snack & a drink after flying in from Adelaide & we choose the Loaded Nachos which was enough for the 2 of us. Being in Auckland for 4 days we came back a second night for a meal & loved it.

Really great bar, have been here a few times in the past. Brilliant selection of beers. The outside is really neat and provides a good atmosphere. Food nice.

We went there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, staff were great ale was yum but food was mediocre! Waffles were chewy and burnt, pizza was nice, chips, burger and meat platter for two not worth the amount we paid.

Thank xtelm

What is a Freehouse you ask? In a nutshell, it is exactly that...A bar that is Free from Big Brewery influence. We pour what we want based on taste and customer feedback. We are not under any contracts with any brewery so we only stock the very best that NZ brewers have to offer.
Welcome to the home of Craft Beer in Newmarket, Auckland!
A cool and laid back bar, with 15 local brews on tap, playing sweet tunes, with ideas and concepts throughout the bar that are just a little bit crafty. From darts, to pool, to chalkboard tables that have tic tack toe (naughts and crosses) lines painted on them so you can challenge your mates, to coasters made from recycled beer boxes, it's all a little crafty.
Kick back and try one of the largest craft beer selections Auckland has to offer. Conveniently located on the corner of Khyber Pass Road and Broadway in Newmarket, there is ample parking all around us in the many towers as well as plenty of street parking.
