We were a large group of 14 people, thank you to May who helped us with our reservation, she was lovely and also professional! Lovely setting that was lively but fortunately wasn't too noisy! We were all able to have a fairly decent conversation. Service was top notch, only mention was that drink service was a touch slow and we were rarely asked if we wanted another drink, we had to request ourselves. Food presentation was good. We initially all thought that we would be going to Maccas on the way home as the first few plates (set menu) were quite small, but towards the end we were struggling to fit it all in. Valet parking staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Thankyou for a lovely night!!

Hello Mintie, Thanks for coming to dine with us and we are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your experience with us. We have a great group of people working really hard to make it all happen and feed back like yours definitely makes it more worthwhile. I am glad to hear that you and your guests didn't have to end up at Macca's afterwards. Our menu is designed to go lighter to heavier in the dish spectrum and we like to make sure you get a chance to taste a lot of dish's which is why some of the portions for the entrée style dishes aren't huge. We do like to start you off light and build up with the larger dishes and always finish off with some thing a little sweet! Lovely food until dessert

It was great to finally be back in a restaurant again and the food was delicious. However, the first waiter explained that it was shared food, even though it was a set menu. He also explained that dessert was not shared. Then we had one bowl of dessert, including melted ice cream plonked down with 2 spoons. No plates, no knife to cut it. It is not that we were left hungry but seriously, how is this safe in a pandemic? Luckily I was with a friend whom I know is Covid free, but there is no way I am dipping my spoon into a shared bowl of ice cream with a work colleague or date during this time. I think you need to rethink the whole concept of shared food for a while and just make a smaller dessert and give a plate each. Other businesses have had to rethink their model, perhaps you might too. I would certainly eat here again but would hope you were a little safer as we are barely out of this pandemic.

I apologise for the miscommunication as we have created dishes to be served share style, but have processes in place to ensure our COVID safety plan is up to the standards expected to protect you and our team from any unnecessary risks. These steps include providing cutlery with each dish to be shared, increased distance between tables, regular and monitored cleaning and sanitising of all surfaces and equipment and social distancing wherever possible throughout our venues. Every meal was amazing...

We booked a reservation for dinner for our first evening in Perth and had the chef’s selection menu. Every dish was delicious, no exceptions. Our server was knowledgeable and very helpful with the wine selection. We loved the food so much that we came back three more times for breakfast every day we were in Perth and the breakfasts were just as delicious. We also had their savoury muffin...pumpkin and cheese, I think...and it’s one of the best bakes I’ve ever eaten. My only (minor) suggestion is to remind kitchen staff when they are bringing chef’s menu items to the table to pause and let the table know what the dish is because we didn’t order the individual dishes we sometimes had no idea what we had been served.

We heard great things about this venue so me and my partner booked a dinner on a Sat night. Some items we ordered weren't available which is understandable, the wait staff were very good all night and very attentive. We ordered three dishes and this is where is sort of went wrong, not sure if there was a communication issue, but we thought all dishes would come out together as two were from the shared menu and the waitress also told us that all plates are meant to be shared. The first small shared plate came out first by itself, then the second came out by itself, then there was a very long wait for the main dish. All the food was quite bland in flavour and we left the dinner still hungry so overall a pretty disappointing experience given the prices.

Disappointing breakfast

I’m not upset, I’m disappointed. Weird, because this place often comes up as one of the best places where to have breakfast in Perth. I ordered slow cooked eggs on toast with bacon, a cappuccino and a grapefruit juice. I’m not sure how the slow cooked eggs are different from poached, but they were watery. They came in a ramekin and they split before I could move them onto the toast, making a mess of the table. Everything came in a concave plate, so everything was sliding towards the middle, including the eggs that soaked the paper napkin. No space in the plate to cut the toast with the knife. Everything was a mess. Sugar doesn’t automatically come with the coffee: after the coffee is delivered, you have to wait again for the waiter to bring sugar to the table if you say you want some, but I had to ask twice. The cappuccino wasn’t the best and I’m sorry if I think that in a place like this orange or grapefruit juice should come form oranges and grapefruits, not cartons. First world dramas, I know, but come on! The waitress was lovely though. This review applies only to breakfast; I came for lunch here previously and it was great

I have visited restaurant multiple times and food and wine were consistently excellent, with each dish distinct and memorable. Reservations are very to make on website... For everyone who wants to experience some exceptional and unforgettable cuisine at reasonable price - i highly recommend it

How refreshing to have the staff of a resturant really know everything about the menu in minute detail..rights down to what would go best with the preferred dishes. And its not just about the foot. The knowledge of wines and beers is incredible (who knows anything about sour beer?). New years evening with beautiful friends from Sydney. This is what we shared (4) and there was nothing we ddin't love:Fried squid, preserved lemon & finger lime aioli. Raw Geraldton kingfish, coriander root, green papaya, shiso. Beef tartare, shallot & sesame, black pepper crème, comte. Endive, white almond, celery, avocado, yuzu kosho. Market fish, creamed mussels, potato, chermoula, radish, fine herbs. Best end spring lamb chops, smoked yoghurt & spiced cashew, vadouvan jus. Top that with a beautiful Capel Vale Shiraz. Pre's were next door at Beer Corner where we had Prosecco and a very morrish czech beer (something different). Love this resturant. Great vibe, service knowledge and amazing food. Price is commensurate with the quality = value for money and experience.

A new food standard

Probably the best restaurant meal I have had in the last couple of years. What was amazing is that the staff was able to accommodate my wife's gluten free and dairy free choices by putting things on the side or advising us what to get. Best pork shoulder ever, and the tartar was spectacular! Nice wine pairing as well, with knowledgeable waitress and friendly hostess. Will definitely go back! Btw way it was my wife's Birthday so overall it made for a special night!

Very expensive, limited food selection and small portions.

The Sunday dinner menu is very limited and ver confusing. We were also told that the chef insists to select the 2 side dishes when you order 1 of only 4 main course options. $39 for 5 very small medalions of lamb and $49 for half chicken which was no bigger than a bird... Not value for money at all...

Poor and unfriendly welcome

We were looking for a Sunday lunch arrived approx 11.25. We asked if we could book a table-the young lady who was not friendly said yes, then she disappeared. A guy came who I guess was the boss and he said we were far too early for lunch and we’d only have an hour tops as table was reserved for 1pm lunch. Ok we asked if we could have a cup of coffee while waiting-yes it was begrudged. We sat patiently at the table played a game of cards then asked to see a menu so we could order on the dot of 12 not to overstay our ‘welcome’!! No we’d have to wait. Two other couples arrived 10-15 minutes before 12, were offered cocktails/wine list and menus. 12 came and another more pleasant waitress arrived and we ordered duck liver pate and shark ceviche, followed by 2xprawns and a bowls of triple cooked potatoes. The prawns arrived first! I asked for a glass of wine and in the end my husband had to go to the counter and select a glass for me at $17. I asked why the prawns had been delivered before the starters and was told’ oh, I made a mistake’. We were very disappointed with the greetings by staff who did not seem very happy with their jobs and we left at 12.45. Being both senior citizens we nearly left at the beginning of the meal, perhaps we should have. A bad experience not an inviting restaurant or staff!

An excellent place to relax

This is a slightly more classy restaurant and bar within a better part of Perth's city centre. The dishes served in the restaurant were modern and stylish, but I especially loved escaping to the Wine Bar...it was a perfect place to relax and unwind...great service and atmosphere!

Not very Happy!

There were 7 of us, went there for a late lunch after Granddaughters graduation. Waitress was lovely & very helpful. 6 ordered from the comestibles section, one from the substantial section. Food took a long time to come and when it did 4 people were served and they had finished eating by the time the last 3 meals came. We were not happy with the serve size at all! My 3 prawns were over cooked & dry. Very expensive for what it was. Won't go there again.

Was here recently at Wine Merchantand a mixed bag. Outstanding recommendations and service from the French waiter who went above and beyond. On the flip side was the other staff member who has lost me. Ordering a drink no issue, ordering another one has to pay for previous ( most strange). Even odder I wanted to pay by cash(no signs etc that it was frowned upon). Then it changed from " can't pay by cash to can pay by cash but only if it's the exact amount. So,I scraped through my bag and phew, I found $3 in change to match my tenner. If it's no cash, why did they then accept it??

As for the cash issue I do apologize but at this moment the entire State building is unable to accept cash as it is a building wide policy at this time due to Covid - 19 and our hygiene policy. We do have signs in all the venue's as well as on our menu's stating we are card only at this time however, I will speak to the team about making sure that signage is more visible to guests in the future. Lovely setting and beautiful service. A separate many provided with vegetarian and vegan dishes, with further options provided to convert dishes. Very accommodating. The pasta dish with roasted tomatoes, peas and delicate broad beans was delicious. Loved it and will return.
