My husband and I came for a special degustation dinner on Sunday night 17/4/22 at 730pm. We were seated and said that we also wanted to have the wine pairing with our dinner. We were told the wines were a 30ml sample. While we waited...for our first course I ordered a glass of wine and my husband ordered a (350ml bottle) beer. In between the first and second course. My husband saw the waitress pass and asked her for another beer (his second). She said as per the RSA he couldn't have another one because he already had two drinks on the table. He had his 30ml of wine that was waiting for the course it was being paired with, and he had a mouthful of beer in his glass. So he took a drink. She then said "Well, Now I've just seen you 'neck' that." We both actually looked shocked and I asked if she had just completed the RSA as it seemed she was being really excessive. She said that she did it two years ago. She came back after talking to the manager and said he could have another bottle of beer. We laughed at how serious this was and said if it would make her happy that she could remove the waiting 30ml of wine from the table until our meals had arrived. She didn't. So now we have been at the restaurant for 2 hours and we are on our third course and my husband asks for his third beer (and my third glass of wine). The waitress said she can't because of the RSA again. Except this time according to her rules of the hour now my husband isn't allowed to mix his drinks she said he can't have wine and beer. Now we are getting annoyed. We are two adults having dinner. We have been at this restaurant for two hours and are sober enough to drive (according to drink wise two drinks in the first hour and one drink per hour thereafter). We got a taxi there. It was a special occasion. Nobody was being disorderly. Again, to appease the waitress my husband said what if I cancel the rest of the wine tastings that will come and just stick with beer? She said no. She said after this beer he wasn't allowed to have any more!! For the night! Now we are mad. Thinking someone with some common sense will come over to clear this up was a wrong assumption because Lina the manager comes over and backs up this waitress by saying that's what the RSA states and those are the rules. It takes me 5 seconds to google the $17 RSA course where there are four rules to follow. -You can't serve anyone drunk -You can't serve anyone who is disorderly -You can't serve anyone under 18 -You can't allow violent or quarrlesom people on the licenced premises. When I said where does it say he can't mix his drinks? And then even when he said he wouldn't have the wine why was his limit three?! Nobody could answer. We asked to see the policy of the restaurant that stated this bizzar fact but just got told we should do the course if we want to know. We asked for the bill and said we were leaving. After waiting and waiting we got up and were given the bill at the register. I again asked for the RSA rules that have now ruined our night and we were given attitude by the manager and the Irish woman who seats people. I told her just because she was wearing a mask didn't mean we couldn't hear her. Since we had been adamant to see this RSA first, the manager said pay the bill or she would call the police! So I said fine call them! Because I didn't want them to try to say at a later stage that we were simply drunk and refused service for that reason. I was recording as well on my phone as additional evidence. My husband asked her to sign a piece of paper saying we asked to see the RSA to verify the rules and the manager chose instead to call the police. She refused to sign anything. We paid, and left absolutely disgusted. We called the following Tuesday and after 20 minutes on hold left a message for a call back. Then made another call an hour and a half later where we spent more time on hold and being hung up on or having the line drop out several times. Finally, I speak to another manager Kai, who said he just came back from holiday and had briefly heard of us. I asked to explain the situation myself from my point of view and he had no answer but said he would start and "investigation" and get back to us. I said from the reciept you can tell how long we were there for and what we ordered in terms of drinks. -three wines for me -three bottles of beer for my husband and -three wine tastings. We were there for two hours and then my husband was told that was his limit because of mixing drinks. Then the police were called when we demanded to see this insane rule before leaving. I have a recording also so everything I'm saying is the truth. Nobody has bothered to get back to me. I have sent the restaurant 4 different requests for contact via the website. All have been ignored. The owner of this establishment should know how patrons are being treated. But I can't get through.More

This restaurant has been here (with many changes of management) for at least 30 years. During that time we've occasionally celebrated special events here. Over the years, the standards have varied a lot, culminating in a period perhaps 10 years ago when we had such...an "ordinary" experience with what was then quite a high price tag, we never went back. They were advertising heavily in tourism magazines and the philosophy seemed to be not to worry about food quality because most diners were out of town visitors and wouldn't be back. Last week we were celebrating a few more than 40 years of marriage and wanted to go somewhere special. We thought we’d have another visit C Restaurant, as it is now called. Encouraged by favourable recent reviews we made a booking and wondered what our evening would be like. We should not have worried. Clearly the current management has a much better philosophy and the experience was very enjoyable. The two course menu had exactly what we were looking for: interesting dishes that we would never cook at home, and they were delicious. The evening was topped off by a complimentary surprise plate with tiny choccy and strawberry morsels, lit by a sparkler and with a message on the plate - a very nice touch and much appreciated. The only problem was that I was very disappointed with the serving size of Moet Champagne, which was a minuscule amount and went flat quite quickly. Apart from that glitch, we had a wonderful evening. We highly recommend this restaurant in spite of the champagne problem.More

I visited the C Restaurant on the 18th March as I was treating my friend for her upcoming birthday. This wasn’t my first time at the restaurant and I have always enjoyed it . The food was delicious and especially the wonderful dessert and the...finer detail when coming out with a brownie with happy birthday on the plate for my friend was a wonderful touch and made her feel very special . The wait staff were very attentive and quick with the delivery of our food and also when we requested more drinks but at no time were we made to feel rushed . I will definitely be back again to visit and can highly recommend this restaurant with stunning views of our wonderful city , really does make your dining experience a memorable one .More

We were given gift certificates for dinner and booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary. $200 covered 2 entrees and 2 mains from their set menu which is pricey but the food was high quality, delicious and beautifully presented. Of course the view is brilliant and...keeps one chatting all night about various points of interest. The food came out quite quickly so we deliberately delayed ordering dessert as we like to have a decent break between courses. This restaurant is an excellent choice for a special occasion and you won’t be disappointed. Bring your vax certificate.More

I struggled to decide between 4 and 5 stars. Maybe the family experience lifted it that bit extra and undoubtedly the views added. The multiple course degustation menu with paired wines was a treat. The entrees were particular stand outs. I found some minor faults...in the duck and beef mains but they were still very good. The accompanying wines whilst not brilliant did compliment each course well. The service and atmosphere were brilliant. Overall I give it a 5 star because it was and definitely will be memorable.More

I previously came here for high tea. What ruined the experience for us was when, upon arrival; a lady staff asked us if we have Covid-19 vaccination certificates - this in itself was not the issue as we were vaccinated. However, my understanding is that,...proof is mandatory only from 31 January 2022. I had no problem showing the certificates however she did not check our IDs. Furthermore, other customers who arrived at the same time as us were not asked to provide proof of vaccination. I felt that the only difference was our race and as a result of my being Asian, we were treated in this way. The view from the restaurant was enjoyable and the food was ok. Some of the staff were friendly and nice. Unfortunately the tea cups had stains, so for the price paid this was disappointing. Sadly the experience was ruined for our party due to the treatment we received upon arrival.More
