I've been to Red Opium four times now and each time have been very happy with the food and service. The excellent service starts from the confirmation of your booking with information on where to park and the nearest bottle shops as it is BYO all alcohol (a very reasonable $3 corkage). It continues with the polite and friendly welcome... More

We returned here recently and noticed that the staff and menu have changed from about 2 years ago but it is still very good. The main change is that the food is more traditional Thai and less experimental. We had the Culinary Journey of 4 regions of Thailand with 2 dishes from each. Every dish was full of flavour and... I did send this is in a message to red opium and I'm so disappointed not to have received a reply. My partner and I discovered this restaurant 3 years ago and every time we visited Perth we always made reservations. The food was always amazing as was the service and ambience and penny's presence just made the experience even... More

There are several things about Red Opium that make it stand out. First, it has a unique opium den underground atmosphere about it, in fact it is located in a basement area. Secondly, the gourmet cuisine is consistently fantastic. I haven't found anything other than five star rated food. Thirdly, if Mick Jagger likes it then there has to be... More

We returned for dinner and again had some of the best tastiest Asian food you could possibly ask for. Every dish that came out was an absolute pleasure to eat and so many delicious choices. We really could not fault a thing - the service was friendly efficient and professional. The food was amazing and plenty of it and not... More

The very best food I have ever eaten. I would never recommend a restaurant because their are so many variables but this place is special. Love the duck curry, lamb cutlets and wagyu starter. Great family run business. Top effort.

Unfortunately if you serve up hot dishes cold, it really really detracts from the taste, flavor, experience. To me its a complete faux pas for kitchen to operate this. So yes what can I say, if you like cold food (and its not that simple to send food back to re-heat, it comes back after your partners have finished there's.

We were served very well by a young lady, must mention we were the only table and yet the kitchen managed to serve us uncooked prawns. Tom kha gai tasted so bland and lukewarm. We asked the manager in charge to ask the chef to try the soup and the response was far from acceptable, " he has tasted it... More

We were handed the bill without asking for it at 9.45pm and told to leave within 15 minutes as the restaurant was closing. What happened to hospitality? Overpriced tapas, the mains were better (the massaman curry was to die for) but the experience soured at the end by being asked to leave
