Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very fresh & tasty. Interesting dishes & not too expensive. Great location that's easy to get to and close to lots of other bars and entertainment options to go to before or after.

Whether it is the effect of the prolonged roadworks in Roe Street or the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bonsai is a sad shadow of its former self. A former bustling restaurant, half of the venue is now silent and on this particular occasion -...a busy Friday night in the middle of the Perth Fringe Festival - the venue was staffed by just two front-of-house staff. This is very sad as the food is as delightful as ever. It really has to be hoped that patrons will again return to Bonsai as this is a top-notch restaurant presenting the most delightful Japanese cuisine.More

We love the consistently excellent food and the friendly vibe at The Bonsai Restaurant & Cafe Lounge. While we currently don't live in Perth, we always make sure to stop here for a meal when we're home for a visit. The soft shell crab was...a highlight as always, and the wagyu steak was amazing!More

I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants where I’ve ordered multiple dishes. Invariably there is at least one or two that are underwhelming. But not in this case. Each and every course was better than the last. Many venues are “show off” with t mediocre food...but I was overwhelmed by the quality of the food and the attention to detail. Isaac, the owner, was fabulous in his demeanor, humor and attention. Definitely my one and only destination for the futureMore

There was a brilliant east meets west type degustation menu. The fried Patagonia tooth fish was done just right. There was fried prawns with avocado sauce, beef & asparagus rolls, and crab sticks. To name a few. There was a full bar with sweet cocktails....Food hit the sweet spots all the time.More

You wouldn't really guess form the outside that this restaurant is as good as what it is. Whilst pretty subdued and dimly lit inside, the food and service are well above expectations. If you like Japanese then this is the place to go!

Perfect place for pre theatre dinner. Great choices for various food preferences and our waiter took responsibility for our timing so we could relax and enjoy our delicious meals. The duck was particularly flavourful. And then who should appear behind us in the theatre queue?...Our waiter with my forgotten coat!More
