We wished we'd dressed a bit more nicely than in jeans and tshirts, as the place is quite nice. The service was excellent and the food even better. Would have gone here the next night we were in Perth too but we were on a budget - $150 for two starters, two steaks, and two desserts. Pretty damn decent especially for the quality of food.
We ordered the olives and almonds as starters, and they sure don't skimp on the amount they give you with starters - we could have filled up on those two dishes alone. We're glad we held off on how much we ate because the steaks we ordered were amazing. The only disappointment of the night was when we ate the last bite of our steaks. They were cooked perfectly and the sauces were delicious. The salted caramel panna cotta we had for dessert was pretty good, but we were still missing the taste of the steaks that we had just eaten.
Will definitely be back next time we're in Perth.

This was our first restaurant outing post COVID-19 and we were a little apprehensive on the set menu and what type of value we would receive.
We were overwhelmed with the quality of the food and the value for money. It was a long afternoon there for us but others came in to have a quick one course sitting.
The service from Maree, our French waitress, was attentive and nothing too much trouble throughout the day. We loved it and now recommending to everyone, although secretly trying to keep this gem quiet.

Booked a table for my team to enjoy a breakfast meeting, and can say I am so happy that I did! We have a number of restaurants and eateries close to our office, but I just wanted something different. The menu looked interesting and well priced so I chose the Sentinel. The setting is small enough to feel personal, and not overly large so you feel you are dining in a barn! The menu did not disappoint! Between us we had probably ordered everything in the breakfast section and I can say honestly not one dish looked disappointing. Prices are competetive, waitresses were attentive without being intrusive and the coffee was good too.

I booked this establishment for Saturday night dinner based on a colleague’s recommendation (a great steak in Perth) and despite only a handful of diners in there, we decided it looked cosy so committed.
Warm greetings and prompt service initially. We enjoyed a drink each while we perused the menu.
After ordering the mains I asked for the gin menu back but the waitress never returned to take my order. When she did arrive, I mentioned that due to the elapsed time, my main would be there shortly so I would now prefer the wine list. This never arrived either so I ordered a glass of red off the gentlemen who brought our mains. Both arrived promptly and perfectly matched our Chateaubriand. This was absolutely stunning and very well cooked. So decadent but you need to do these things occasionally.
The sides were also very nice although I did order red wine jus and cafe de Paris butter but received a truffle infused sauce instead (more like a duxelle or pate consistency) and although it wasn’t what we ordered, it’s truffle on a centre cut piece of beef, couldn’t possibly be bad!
After mains my wife commented on the fact she was full and overindulged and the waitress advised that she wasn’t even going to bother offering coffee and dessert then. Um, that’s fine, but I would have had another drink and a coffee but was never asked.
After sitting there for another 15 minutes we realised that was our night done at this restaurant apparently. When I asked the waitress for the cheque she pointed to the till at the bar. No thank you or smile just a dismissive “get out here” gesture. Very disappointing.
When I paid the bill at the bar, I was asked by the barman how everything was and I advised that the food was sensational, service started off well but things then went down hill. To his credit he seemed genuinely concerned and dissapointed.
From what I experienced, a great meal was provided but service ordinary. There are way too many great restaurants in Perth to be like this. Had a sensational dinner in Garum the night before and the experience was very different. Definitely room for improvement here. Food and drinks sensational - that should be my lasting memory, not ordinary service.

Made a booking here for the $69 Set Menu Three Courses. After a short wait the entrees came out and these where so nice we had the Scallops and they were perfectly cooked. After we finished the entrees the mains came out and we where both in heaven, the Beef Fillet was magnificent and perfect in every way and my other half’s fish was cooked to perfection. Deserts were a perfect ending to the evening.
Service here is A1 and the staff here are so friendly, I would not hesitate to recommend the Sentinel Bar and Grill to anyone. This is the second time we have been here and I can guarantee it will not be the last.

Venue Has a good atmosphere and food was ok but the menu is ambiguous. We ordered the 2 course menu thinking it was $53. We asked the waiter if the special fish of the day was included in the set menu and he said yes but clearly it wasn’t when we paid the bill, everything was itemised and not as the $53. I thought this was unfair and the waiter should have explained clearly. We have decided not to return, such a shame as we loved going here in the past.

Before leaving the States, we researched restaurants to go to in Perth. The Sentinel was one of 5 we thought would be worthwhile. The concierge at our hotel was impressed with our list, but suggested we go here. He was right! The food was wonderful, the pricing was reasonable, and our service was spectacular! (Thanks Sara) My partner thought her salmon was as good as any she had eaten before. And that’s saying a lot coming from someone who lives in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. My steak was cooked to perfection. As a starter, we split the bruschetta. We agreed it was the tastiest bruschetta we had ever eaten - and that’s from people who have traveled to Italy on numerous occasions. Should we return to Perth, we would definitely return to The Sentinel.

Evening started well, four of us for dinner. Drinks ordered took a long time to get to the table. Three course meal which was delightful although some effort needed to go into explaining Gluten Free requirements to a waiter that claimed this was his first night on the job. Surely management should be providing staff with appropriate allergen knowledge before they start? Wines excellent, Gins great choices very pleasing. Entree, mains and desserts were all delicious, a good night out, did not disappoint.

Food is of very high standard. You can taste that it has been prepared by people who care about food. Presentation and service is also of a very high standard. This is a great location that lends itself to all occassions from a couples dinner/date night, business meeting or a friends catch up.
Thank you.

My husband and I came here for a 'Paris date night', my first dinner out without kids for well over a year 😂
It was an enjoyable evening with good food and friendly service. Good value for money also for the 'chateaubriand' and wine --- probably a good way for the restaurant to attract patrons on a Tuesday. We also added on a couple of additional drinks, entree and cheese plate.

Rather disappointing visit for our wedding anniversary. We didn't find out until we arrived that the main dining area had been booked out by a large party and the table we had booked was actually in the bar. Absolutely no ambience and a very noisy location! We left with a headache!
We ordered the Confit Pork Belly entree as a sharing plate. Whilst it was very tasty, the presentation was poor and the two pieces of pork belly were different sizes. For our mains, we ordered the Chateaubriand for 2 again as a sharing plate. The steak had been 'sous vided' supposedly to make it MORE tender. We requested our steak to be rare and we ended up with something that was mushy with a texture like 'playdough' in the centre and without the beautiful caramelised crust that we would expect from a steak cooked well - and that cost $115!!
I'm sorry to say, that I would not recommend this to anybody!

I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 course option for $65.
The pork belly was generously portioned. It was succulent light fried flavors, the pickled cabbage has a slightly strict vinegar flavour, but the acidity cut the fat nicely after a few bites, I just needed to get the portions in the mouth balanced.
The Duck Gnocchi was just beautiful. The main was the right size, had generous Duck ragu meat and sauce covering light but filling gnocchi. This dish will bring me back.
Thank you for the hospitality and dinner.

We went to The Sentinel on a Friday night as we were in "partial lockdown" masks required but not once you were at your table and eating. My husband and I have dined in the main body of the restaurant previously with family and whilst the meal and service was amazing, the table arrangements were too close and very little privacy. However, this Friday evening not many people were out enjoying themselves so we were fortunate to score a table in the bar area and it made such a difference. We had more space and it was so much quieter so we could hear each others conversations. The meal was amazing and so well presented. The staff were incredible - attention to detail is everything. Would go again but request a table in the bar area!

What amazing experience, the food was just so good down to every last bite. We had 4 different starters and mains and loved them all. So Fresh and full of flavour and our steaks cooked to perfection. Our head chef was Tyrone Ryder and our amazing waitress was Marie and she always made sure we had everything we needed and our glasses were always full. I would highly recommend a visit because I know we will be back.

This Bar/Grill has a really relaxing atmosphere and caters for intimate and social dining with various areas to sit. The food was prepared beautifully and there were a variety of drink options...with a focus on Gin, if you like GIN. Nice touch!
I had the scallops special as my main with a side of Brie Tartiflette, oven baked diced potato, with bacon, onions & Brie cheese. This was amazing. My partner enjoyed the Eye Fillet, cooked perfectly. We shared the cafe Gourmant, satisfying my love of coffee with love of dessert, all in one.
