My colleague and I dinned at this restaurant and truth be told we found it outstanding. They have a real wood grill that they cool both vegetables and meat on. The flavour produced by this grill is nothing short of home cooking. The waiters are...amazing and the service is unbelievableMore

Really enjoyed the food cooked over the wood fire. Menu is well thought out and presented. Enjoyed the wood grilled octopus entree.

The staff are well trained, friendly, professional. I had the Stirling Range Sirloin with grilled mushrooms and wood fired peppers. Complimentary appetizer of pickled carrots and herb infused olives with bread set the tone, the kitchen knows their stuff! The charred meat was well cooked...in the spanish style, with the peppers and mushrooms elevating the flavours. As much as I really liked the main, the dessert of Caramelised Goats Cheese and Honey Cheesecake was rich and moreish, but the plate was taken to another level with the blood orange gel, pollen and icecream.More

Thought i had made a reservation but it hadn't gone through. The staff were very accomodating and offered a table as long as we could vacate for 7.30. We had the hand picked tomatoes with ricotta, sirloin with wood fired broccoli ,buttermilk fried cauliflower and...fries. Everything absolutely delicious. We had breakfast at the restaurant, as it was included in our rate, thankfully. The breakfast spread was incredibly limited and felt more of a Holiday Inn breakfast than an Intercontinental one. The restaurant (and the reception area, too), were soaked in an intense stench...of frying. The quality of the limited variety of food was average, at best. The next days of our stay, we opted for the much better (yet also limited) breakfast at the Club lounge.More

This was a follow up visit to the (relatively) recently refurbished Intercontinental Hotel in inner Perth. With friends we visited the Intercontinental mid winter for a pre- show snack. Although disappointed with the food and service , the four of us decided to revisit this...beautifully refurbished Hotel to experience the hotels Signature and Flagship restaurant Ascua. We were extremely pleased that we did so last night. From the moment we were greeted by the doorman at the Hotel entrance, to the superb service provided by Ascua's restaurant manager Sebastian, to the staff members' total commitment to attention to detail and education on the menu and wines available, their efforts made our visit and the visit of other patrons to the Hotel truly memorable. Sebastian took the time to explain the intricacies of the a la Carte menu plus the options for large share plates of Tomahawk Steaks or Seafood platters. We opted to share the wonderful entrees (Charred Cauliflower and octopus; Grilled tomatoes etc) and we were not disappointed. Fir mains 2 of our table ordered to beautiful Spanish style grilled marinated Chicken breasts (Delicious) while the others chose the Steak (perfectly prepared medium rare) and wonderful Goldband Snapper. We ordered fries, Grilled Brochilli and Grilled cauliflower as accompaniments. 2 bottles of Spanish Grenache (by all accounts very nice and very complimentary to the meals chosen) were enjoyed by 3 of the guests at our table. This was the first time we have eaten at Ascua. It will not be our last. The whole experience was memorable and the table at which we were placed was adjacent to the window (open) looking out over King Street. We loved interacting with the passing parade who had just experienced the Perth Xmas Pageant. A wonderful way to finish off a great eveningMore

My friend and I chose Ascua because it is located across from His Majesty’s Theatre as we had a show at 7.30pm. We arrived at 6pm and advised the staff that we had a show and they had said it wasn’t a problem as they...cater for a lot of show goers. The staff advised that we shouldn’t choose certain meals as they take a long time to prepare, so we chose from the easier things. We ordered entrees and mains at the same time and were served the cold cut of meat and a tomato salad. Time ticked by and by 7pm we thought we should remind the waitress. She seemed to dismiss it and just replied it was coming. It got to 7.20pm, 10 mins before our show and food kept being served to every other table but ours. A table of 4 that were seated next to us after we had ordered had their meals and were finished before we even had our mains. We spoke to the main waiter and he seemed a bit confused and there was a little scramble in the kitchen and by that time it was 7.24 and the replied that the steak was still another 3 mins away. We couldn’t wait any longer as there was no way we could eat in 30 seconds so all he said was sorry and do you want to come back after the show to eat... at 10pm... no thank you. The worst service. The kitchen looked amazing but not enough for me to ever go back. We watched our show tummies grumbling and very disappointed by how such terrible service can let down a potentially good restaurant.More
