Specifically booked for the location. Booked on line and requested a table on the terrace with a view over the river. Despite email confirmation and booking well in advance, the table given was next to the busy bar, completely inside, noisy and no view. Despite...asking why we were not seated as per the booking, the staff just stated that nothing was assured. If I has known that this was the case, I would not have booked. As per other reviews, the staff were not friendly and arrogant. Expecting something special, I was very disappointed. It is advertised as a bar and grill, and despite the hype, it is a bar and grill. The food quality was as an average bar and grill. Arriving from overseas, and hoping for a good experience, I was very disappointed. Left after 1 meal and went to South Perth. Completely different atmosphere and experience. Much better views also.More
The best thing we thought about The Point Bar and Grill was the location.
We went for lunch with interstate friends and picked this restaurant specifically because it was on the river and would be a good place to show off Perth.
In that respect...it didn’t disappoint, but that was about as far as it went.
We only wanted a light lunch as we were booked out for dinner in the evening, so chose ‘small plates’ from the menu.
My wife’s lamb ribs were simply inedible. Fatty, and what meat there was, was tough and chewy. The fat hadn’t been rendered and it was altogether unpleasant. The maitre d’ clearly saw the plate was pushed to the side, but managed not to notice anything wrong as he cruised. Also, no finger bowls were offered for the ribs (or the prawns I had – tails and heads intact).
There was little else my wife fancied and we ended up moving to the bar area with a bowl of fries, not quite we had envisioned!
The wine list was good, by glass or bottle, and the venue itself fine, but there is a slightly run down air for the whole development area with empty units and dirty windows.
Not somewhere we will return to.More
Excellent night had by all, the restaurant was busy, an open kitchen so we could see the chefs were flying, almost full dining room however our meals arrived after a reasonable time and were great. well executed menu with happy friendly staff, well worth the...price. Great views of the river!!More
Table of 10, 40 minutes till entree, for those that opted for that, an hour for mains after we geed them up. Had been advised 2 hr sittings.... finished our deserts after 3 hrs.
Wait staff good, food good, nice presentation, way too long between...courses and they weren't full.
Have been before when quiet, so will do that again, but either poor scheduling or slow chefs? Either way, pick your times.More
Celebrated my 50th Birthday at The Point Bar on Saturday night. Would like to thank Blake and all the crew there. The event staff were helpful with all the organising, they thought of everything. No stress on me! Oh what a night it was.....plenty of...drinks flowing and scrumptious food was eaten. The sun setting in the background was an added bonus to the atmosphere. The dance floor was a hit. Once again a big thanks to all the staff.More
We spent some time exploring Point Fraser, and checked out this restaurant in the process. On-site parking is free for the first hour, but from then onwards you're paying $2.50 an hour. Point Fraser itself is a bit of a hidden gem, just off the...causeway and on the edge of the CBD, and yet you are right beside the Swan River. There's also some wetlands with (very short) boardwalks. Toilets are available as well. When we visited, everything was closed except The Point Bar & Grill. We'd been considering enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, since the views from the restaurant are elevated and overlook the river. But as soon as we opened the door of the entrance: WHAM - such loud music! Definitely not a place to go for a
nice chill ambience. Prices were also quite steep.More
