Its a funny thing about expectations. Restaurants with the best beach views in tourist spots often rely on the WOW of their location, but then are overpriced and a bit underwhelming. So with rather low expectations I've actually found myself thoroughly enjoying myself here four times on this trip to Broome.
First up breakfast... Breakfast choices for me are hard as Im not big on toast, eggs or sugar, but I chose a bunch of sides and a Bloody Mary and had a super breakfast. What a surprise!
I went back on another afternoon solo. Calamari was a bit small and I saw yummy things going to other tables, so I ordered a second dish of the pot of prawns. Yummo. So simple yet an utter treat and enjoyed splashing that one all over my Insties.
I went back with friends for afternoon desserts. Super yum. Everyone enjoyed their choices and it was a highlight of the day.
Back again for a pre-sunset early dinner / late lunch and had the prawn & crab salad. YUM. Plenty of prawns. Fresh & tasty. Another yummy cocktail.
The whole Cable Beach atmosphere is very touristy, with huge crowds coming for sunset. Sitting at Zanders throws you in this mix of tourist mayhem. There's plenty of atmosphere and it certainly delivered better than expected.
As a little feedback for staff.... We arrived as 5 people for 3.30pm dessert. So many tables with Reserved signs. We got a lovely spot, but not preferred choice. We ate, we chatted, we went to the beach, we swam, we walked.... and as we came back passed all those empty Reserved tables were still there. Seems odd when guests identify they only want a 45 minute stay, to block off tables so far in advance for the sunset bookings.

Went there just for a light meal.
I was shocked to pay $32 for a small almond flat white and a main salad - even though I left out the main ingredient, feta. Every other place venues let you put mushrooms or something on instead, but this venue was not accommodating to any change.
Disappointing

On our first trip to Zanders we were blown away by the beachfront location. The drinks were delivered quickly and were tasty (ginger beer and a virgin pina colada).
On our second visit, we purchased a hamburger around dinnertime from the kiosk. I asked for it without cheese, as I have a food intolerance.
25 minutes later the burger arrived with cheese. I asked them to remake it.
The problem was that - instead of moving my order to the front of the queue - I was placed at the end of the queue during the dinner rush.
After another 20 minutes had passed I complained and asked for a refund. This was denied, but my partner was offered a free drink from the cabinet which he accepted.

The food and cocktails at this place are fantastic. The seafood tasting platter we had one afternoon whilst watching the sunset was so delicious that my husband and I came back a few days later for dinner and had the seafood mains platter for two - it didn’t disappoint and was well priced.
You can’t book so be prepared to have to wait for a table if you arrive near sunset. We didn’t have to wait long. They put you on a wait list and get you seated in their bar area where you can order drinks whilst you wait for a table to become free. The view is obviously amazing from this place.

Best spot for food and drink in Broome. Stunning water views and good value food and drink (for Broome prices). Must do for breakfast, lunch or dinner - and their takeaway Kiosk also offers great value where you can eat on the lawn looking over the water of Cable Beach.

They have to stop with this nonsense of huge queues to order $40.00 meals. It's not covid safe, it's so silly to have 15 people on a line waiting to order.
If you want us to like up and wait for meals like a fast food joints; then don't charge outrageously expensive mains.
A $40.00 steak, which you have to queue for 20 minutes to be welcomed by rude, over worked and tired staff is unacceptable.
Also not taking bookings for less than 10.
Food and drink expensive, but of reasonable quality.

Our first night out in Broome was unfortunately at the most disappointing restaurant. Zanders would not take bookings but when we got there they were busy and asked us to leave our number so they could call when a table was ready... wouldn’t it make more sense to take bookings? Regardless... We left our details and went across to another place to have a drink while we waited. Before we could order Zanders rang to let us know that our table was ready which was hopeful. We left and walked back to be seated straight away and within minutes we placed our meals. Staff were very lovely and our drinks came straight away. Unfortunately our meals did not come out until an hour after ordering. In normal circumstances this wait time is unacceptable. With children it is even more unacceptable. Kids meals should always come out quickly. Ordering just before 7pm and getting dinner at 8pm was a painful experience but what made it worse was the kids spaghetti was so small it didn’t fill up my 8 year old who is small. The cheeseburger meal had no sauce and in place of the cheese was Mac & cheese. It was, however, dry and flowery making it a horrible cheeseburger to eat. The Asian share plate was was nice but the meat was dry and again, not enough for two people to share. We then ordered another bowl of chips to fill tummies so we could leave for the night not feeling hungry. Unfortunately the $8 mini bowl of chips was not enough and after leaving we had to go source some more food before retiring for the night. I would not recommend this restaurant for families or anyone who wants a meal within a respectable amount of time. The staff we spoke with were lovely and based on our experience, I believe the kitchen was understaffed and the meal sizes not to correct proportions.

Absolutely garbage. Sorry harsh but true.
Waiting 1 1/2 hrs for food. People at the same table eating 1hr before us.
No apologies no offers of free drinks no discounts nothing.
Massive amount of staff struggling to accommodate the patrons they had.
Even when tables were empty we were still waiting had to get refund for food as STILL WAITING.
People out front of restaurant if that’s what you call it! in the same boat.
Getting refunds and disappointed.
By the time you leave there’s nothing open for dinner.
Well guess what McDonald’s.

Went to Zanders restaurant in Cable Beach Broome. Suggest you never go there. The initial service went well but it went down hill rapidly. We were a group of 8, half were served with their meals and they were not of a good standard. The others did not get meals for about 1 and a half hours. One meal was not cooked properly and the others did not even turn up until later after complaints were raised. The chef cannot manage the kitchen and had no idea in regards to customer service. The rest of the staff were all either back packers or visitors from overseas and did not care about what was going on. McGowan wants Perth people to travel intrastate but go any where but Broome because they cannot service those who go there as they are over stretched and not supported by the owners. Save your money and wait for a vaccine

Of all the restaurants in Broome, this would have to be the worst. So firstly there was no instruction on how to order and after a 15 minute wait, we asked how do we order and were told that we could order at the bar so we did. We ordered a shared entree, the seafood plate $44 and then for mains fish and chips and lemon pepper calamari. 10 minutes later they arrived all together. There was no barramundi croquettes and the substitution of smoked salmon wasn’t there. What was there - 4 pasty fresh prawns, 2 scallops which were very nice and greasy calamari and two super oily wontons. To add insult to injury the fish and chips which were meant to be Snapper was more like frozen birds eye tasteless soft fish definitely not Snapper and the coleslaw was a coarse Safeway type. I couldn’t believe that we had paid restaurant prices for what is better from a fish and chip shop. To top this off I was still eating and a waiter asked me if he could take the plate away that I was eating from. In under one hour we and many others had been efficiently fed and outed. In astonishment my husband and I brought the dissatisfaction to the attention of the manager who arrogantly told us that we should have said something earlier, then questioned our fish query and told us that it came from a box labelled snapper, obviously prepackaged frozen battered fish no better quality and worse than a fish and chip shop. This manager couldn’t care less about our concerns and told us that one bad review wouldn’t make any difference because they get plenty of good reviews. All I can say is that I am a discerning diner and have been to plentry of restaurants e.g Matsos Brewery, Mr Saigon, the Aarli and the Mangrove hotel all here in Broome and this is the worst meal and service I have ever experienced. This kind of restaurant is a disgrace to the Broome tourist industry and makes it look like all they want is the bucks from tourists and couldn’t care less about serving good quality food. This place is no better than a fast food joint.

These guys have just reopened for 2021, and I reckon it was two weeks too early. I ordered a prosciutto pizza, and got a mushroom one instead. Wait staff insisted it was prosciutto. Fine, whatevs. I’ll eat mushrooms too, but ona decent crust. This pizza was served on a piece of apparently unleavened dough with all the personality of a weathered shingle. From kitchen to wait staff, the staff give the impression of an ant hill that has just lost its queen. Great location, nice sea breeze, bad food and bad service at inflated prices.

We had breakfast there and when served the $30 big breakfast, we received one piece of cold, semi toasted bread and what amounted to about $5 worth of eggs, bacon, one sausage, a tasteless mushroom and hash browns from the freezer. When we asked for another slice of toast, we were told it would be an additional $5.00! The manager we spoke to about it wasn't really interested in any type of resolution, seemed well versed in dealing with complaints, and ended up being rather combative about it all. We will cross Zanders off the list for the foreseeable future.

So disappointing, we got a full refund. We ordered the steak sandwich and chicken parmigiana, both came with chips. For our drinks we ordered an elderberry tonic which had a lovely write up on the ingredient and how they source the best quality ingredients.
When the food arrived the ham on the chicken look like a thick strange pink slab..obviously processed and it was square. The chicken tasted like freezer. The sauce was from a jar.
The steak in the sandwich was so tough I could not bite through it along with some charred onions and a chutney that had no taste . The drinks came out in a tiny bottle made by a drinks company not handmade like they lead you to believe.
All this for $66 . It was the worst food I've had actually and we did get a full food refund which was given without any hesitation which was good but lead me to believe they were quite frequented with such a request.

Had two meals there now and both awful. First the breakfast because it was the only thing open - ordered sweet potato fritter. One tiny fritter with two poached eggs in top. Nothing else. For $20+. Others at the table had burnt toast on their plates - that burnt they didn't eat. Just really underwhelming and no care or passion for the price. Then ordered take away pizza from there as it was the only thing open. One meat and one gluten free mushroom. They were both yuk yuk yuk! Inedible. No toppings. Raw garlic. No taste. The gluten free base was awful! We couldn't eat them. They need to lift their game. They're riding on having the monopoly for location and service hours in Broome and it's just rude.

The summary is brief. But I have to say it was well worth the visit
Good menu for food and drink
The hard working staff we’re so cheerful and helpful. Far better service than I have experienced in most of Perth
