A quick cheap dinner after a night class with a friend. My dish arrived almost instantaneously but my friend had to wait for hers. I ordered a chicken dish. Can't remember what it was. Think it might have been no 30 on the menu. It didn't look appetizing but I was hungry & ate maybe half of it. It was... More

Asked what is gluten free as I'm very intolerant and the young waiter asked someone else. The answer: everything. I was skeptical so ordered the curry laksa thinking it would be safe. However as I was eating it I noticed yellow noodles which are normally wheat based. I asked another waiter and he confirmed that they were indeed wheat. He... More

I hadn't had a pho bo for about one month so I was rather craving some. I tried here without many expectations. The menu was fine. I had the special noodle soup and the meat and tendon quality was very good. The soup wasn't as aromatic as I've been used to but had a stronger beef taste. The restaurant was... More

No ambience, very basic, food looked and tasted like it had been warmed up, a few hard lumps of some chicken part, re-heated rice.

Went here for a quick lunch. Service was quick, food was served hot and very tasty. Thermos of tea on the table was nice.

Cheap eats but very tasty. $11 for large chicken Pad Thai. Green tea is available on your table at all times, though strangely served in a thermos to keep it warm. Cash only accepted, no eftpos facilities.

Must admit we have not tried anything but the steamed dim sims and the chicken salad, which is always fresh, clean and delicious!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
