I first enjoyed a pre-wedding function here in 1986! My partner and I rediscovered this lovely restaurant about 12 months ago. What impresses us is the professional attention you receive from all the waiting staff, the consistently outstanding value food options on the menu (with many choices in each category) and access to very interesting wines from Italy and other regions that may not often be available at retail. We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and they did an outstanding job through the lockdown through innovative takeaway and discounted wine purchases.

This small restaurant near Fitzroy Park has a nice ambience and attentive waiters. The wine list is fine. The food was good but not great. The gnocchi was perfect but the beef sauce had strong older beef bits and the pasta of the day was at best experimental including bread crumbs and broccoli of all things!

Michael we are glad that our waiting staff was good however we are very disappointed you didn't enjoy our food. Locals all know Geppetto's for the family service and long standing commitment to lovely Italing food at reasonable prices. When you are in business for over 40 years that says it all. The staff know many of the diners by name as like us they are regulars. Not just twice a year regulars but twice a month! We love everything about Geppetto and especially how Adriano will always find a table for us.

We were in Melbourne for the Australian Open Tennis and Gepetto Trattoria was conveniently located fairly close to our accommodation. We had arranged to meet some city based relatives here, but they pulled out at the last moment. Gepetto's was very understanding about this, and arranged a table for two immediately. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful even though the place was pretty busy. My wife ordered fish of the day, and after discussion with the waiter chose trout fillets. She was however served Salmon without any explanation. The salmon was excellent. I had one of the chef's specials, crumbed pork medallions. The serving was generous, but unfortunately they were rather dry, possibly overcooked. Gepetto Trattoria has an excellent wine list, if a bit pricey. You get what you pay for!

Been dining there since it first opened some 35+ years ago and never had a problem with booking, menu, quality and range of food, wine both local and imported, and friendly service.
Always on my list when dining with friends and large groups.

Now the locals are eagerly rewarding this local favourite. Geppetto is always booked out for lunch, it is hard to get a table upstairs or downstairs. The wonderful staff welcome guests warmly. They seem to remember the names of the locals. Our waiter Aldo is one of the best...polite, respectful, he explained the menu, waited till we were ready to order. He placed our meals on the table with a smile of pride. The antipasta platter was generous, the veal was also generous and delicious. It is always top class, homely Italian food at Geppetto.

I actually don't know how to explain how amazing the staff of this restaurant are. 30th Birthday in stage 4 Covid lockdown, away from family and Adriano delivered the most beautiful meal for my girl. I live in Brisbane and arranged everything over the phone and by email. Responses were quick, friendly and provided all the information I needed. My daughter reports: "Arancini best ever, most generous servings, had left overs for the next day... yeah, never seen so much seafood in a marinara EVER, and the dolce super yummy."
I cannot thank you enough for helping me make my daughters birthday so special and the prices are very realistic and reasonable. I can't wait for the borders to open so I can visit in person and thank you personally with my patronage. I know my daughter and friends will be visiting you as soon as they can. Thank you.

I have been coming to Geppetto Trattoria with a group of friends most Fridays for a number of years now, and Adriano and his team have never let us down. Their hospitality is absolutely wonderful, and the food authentic and masterfully prepared. We were disappointed recently to find that the 'Friday Lunch Special' no longer included their wonderful meatballs. However the veal parmigiana which replaced it is equally superb. I look forward to experiencing more of their fantastic dishes.

We had booked a table for five for a family get-together, but three cancelled . Also, we were ten or fifteen minutes late for our booking. The super friendly wait staff found us a table for two nevertheless. After some discussion, my wife chose a fish of the day option, trout fillets. Without explanation, she was served Salmon, which was however completely satisfactory as a dish. I chose a chef's special, crumbed pork medallions. The serving was generous, but unfortunately they were a bit dry. The wine I chose was excellent, a Mitolo cabernet, and my wife told me they made the best Lemon, lime & bitters she has ever had. A mixed bag. Despite being busy, the staff were very attentive and friendly. Prices just on the higher side of average.

The food at Gepetto Trattoria is off the charts amazing. The food is really authentic Italian, no short cuts here. The ambience of the restaurant makes you feel like you are in Tuscany. Adriano and his team are so engaging and so genuine. All the Gepetto team want is for each and every patron to enjoy a wonderful meal in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Everyone I know that eats at Gepetto's walks away feeling well fed and happy. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

As soon as the first lockdown ended whereby we could only enjoy takeaway we booked to sit down in this lovely restaurant again.
They always provide a warm welcome and the food is consistently delicious and varied. You will also see a wine list in this restaurant that features options that are rarely available from wine stores and this is a great treat. Well done Geppetto on using innovation to manage your way through the pandemic restrictions and still be available for us. We look forward to hopefully meeting with you in October.

We always go to Geppettos when in Melbourne as it never fails to provide a terrific all round experience - wonderful food (particularly from the ever changing specials board), friendly and efficient staff and authentic atmosphere.
Family owned and run, the team always deliver on the upside.
With just a very quick tram ride from the CBD - it’s a must for mid week business lunches/dinners or a bite to eat before or after the footy/cricket at the MCG.

We made a last minute decision to have a quick lunch at this restaurant and what a great decision it was. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was attentive but not obtrusive. We'll definitely be making a return visit.

I don't live in Melbourne but visit frequently and whenever I am in Melbourne I take the time to dine at Geppetto Trattoria. The service is always personal and, along with the food, is always excellent. The friendly staff are very obliging and will always take the time to carefully explain the menu and the specials of the day making it an experience not to be missed.

So lockdown is with us again. It could be dreary but take heart, Geppetto’s is again doing a terrific takeaway menu. We ordered the arancini and family sized lasagna (generous for 4 hungry adults). A wonderful way to spend a Saturday night - we would all highly recommend.
