We visited Chinatown and Shanghai Village is a great cheap place for good food. It gets a little noisy and the service is ok but not great however we ate a full meal with drinks for sixty two dollars, hard to beat that!

This place was fairly busy so we knew it would be good. The food was very tasty- full of flavour. The restaurant itself was quite dirty & there wasn't enough wait staff. We got 2 main means which were around $18 each. They were just...More

Stock standard Chinese. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. The space is dark and plainly fitted out and furnished. Nothing notable about it except that it has a very traditional looking street entrance. No issue with these things if you’re just here for a...More

Lunch for two included Rice, Dumplings and Spring Rolls, add a can of drink and bottomless tea for $23, great value. It is noisy and even a bit grubby, but the food is good. Don't judge a book by it's cover, this place is always...More

Have visited this restaurant three times now. The first time, a year ago,it was tolerable. Visited a few months ago and it was very ordinary. Visited this place tonight and it was total rubbish, prompting this review. Everything is greasy and dirty. Service is fast,...More

The worst Chinese restaurant in the whole world! It's more clean to eat from the Trush bin believe me and not only this, the food is just disquasting like the whole place, we just pay and left without eat of course... Please don't go there...More

This place was the worst, we waited for over an hour, which is fine it is what it is, Chinatown is super busy on a Friday night. Once we got in I asked 2 different staff members if the "dishes on rice" come with fried...More

Saturday was Shanghai dumpling day. I had been to the Shanghai Village on a previous occasion but I must confess to being rather inebriated on that last visit and perhaps my recollection of the food and service was a little hazy. We arrived at 2pm...More

The food was good and well priced but someone needs to give it a really good clean and a paint. The men's toilets are truly disturbing with the total coverage of graffiti. If they cannot look after the decoration of the restaurant I am not...More

Rustic charm always suits my Rusty Crowe wannabee-ness. As a dumpling fan no complaints - hot and tasty. Serves of beef D, pork/veg D with shanghai fried rice all most pleasing. Once again this slow learner does find fried a better dish than steamed, texture-wise...More

Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place
to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place
simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude
a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration

Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes
such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your
money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving

Umm I don't think so. You don't go there for things like that. You go there for dirty dumplings that taste delicious while trying not to think about what's really in them.

Not a lot of gluten free options here. Possibly some of the meat and rice dishes. Probably safer going Vietnamese.
