A top end establishment with amazing food. Pasta was delicious, the desserts amazing. A little on the expensive side, but definitely worth it.

It's a lovely cozy restaurant with a cute little bar right in your face as soon as you walk in. Very attentive stuff. The ambience was dark so dark I couldn't see very well. I had to ask my husband to hold his ph to...light up my dishes so I can take a photo. For Entree, I had scallops with persimmon, which was amazing. For mains, he had pasta of the day. Which sounded delicious, but it had no sauce. So dry. Wasn't hot, Lukewarm pasta. The ducks were so tough and chewy, and the sausages were taste less. By then, we won't interested in desserts. For the price you pay for these dishes, Entrees($32~$34) Main ($44-$56) I can find better value somewhere else. Also, fyi you have to put $100 deposit to book.More
Il Bacaro Cucina e Bar is a gem of a restaurant in Melbourne. The food is exquisite, the service is impeccable and the atmosphere is cozy and elegant. I highly recommend the seafood dishes and the tiramisu. A perfect place for a romantic dinner or...a special occasion.More
Amazing experience in every way. We did some research and came across this little delightful restaurant, we were very lucky & managed to get a table as a 'walk in' after 8.00 pm on a Wednesday, if you don't want to miss out on the...best meal of your life I would reserve a table! The food was incredible, the service and atmosphere just as incredible, Alejandro (hope that's the correct spelling) was the best waiter, knowledgeable in every aspect of the restaurants offering, he really made us feel like we were the only diner's he had for the night even though every table was taken, such professionalism. Had we been staying in Melbourne a little longer we would definitely have dined here again, if we visit Melbourne again we will dine here again, other than that we need to persuade them to move to the UK. Thank you for such a special experience, we shall be talking about it for years to come, Peter & Janet 😍More
We've been coming to Il Bacaro irregularly for years, and have never been disappointed. It's a first class restaurant, with an unsurpassed blend of great service and fine food. So much so that, with so many interesting places to try in Melbourne, I'd vote for...this place before most others. Its food is out of this world!!More
Delicious meal , true Italian style . I had delicious prawn pasta & husband had suckling Pig , finished off with best deserts of figs ever eaten !
I as a single enjoyed the meal enormously. Staff professional and friendly service. But I thought way too expensive.
A 40th birthday dinner, that had been postponed due to COVID. What fabulous service and food. Staff were so helpful with gluten free options, and accommodating the needs of a 7-week old baby. We were made to feel welcome despite the logistics of the pram,...and warming up the baby’s bottle. The wine list was encyclopaedic and the sommelier so helpful with choices. The menu, varied but the Gorgonzola profiter rolls. Sublime.!More
Great food with a menu that is almost entirely coeliac friendly. This place is a real gem. It’s a small place and can get quite noisy but it didn’t detract from our night out. We will definitely be back.
The restaurant needs booking as it’s always full and is not big. Great menu and wines friendly great service with fresh cooking it was fully recommended and lived up to the advice. Central restaurant and easy to find for lunch and dinner also good for...business meetingsMore
Fantastic little restaurant on Little Collins street. Fantastic atmosphere, great service and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the Moreton bay bug spaghettini!
Great Italian food in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. The atmosphere was excellent (it is an intimate place) with a very good wine list to match. Our Bellini cocktails were disappointing though (all three of us were not thrilled).
This was my first meal at Il Bacaro in Melbourne’s CBD. The restaurant is in a great location and delivers a great experience. I enjoyed the scallop crudo with tomato consommé and saffron oil for a starter. The main course was Moreton Bay Bug spaghettini....The spaghettini was fantastic! I look forward to returning to Melbourne to dine at Il Bacaro again.More
Fantastic experience. Informed and knowledgeable staff, warm service and great food. The food was excellent and well proportioned.
I met a couple of colleagues here for a lunch and it was excellent. I received a warm welcome when I arrived even though I was somewhat early. The pasta that I had was excellent and the others also enjoyed their meals. The service throughout...lunch was very professional. I would certainly recommend this a great place for a meal.More
