I apologise I forgot to take a photo. I eat here probably bi monthly. This has been a institution in South Melbourne for decades, long before I arrived. The food is old fashion home style with love and high quality finish. They make the best...ribs in Melbourne no doubt. Their steaks are famous. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. You won’t be disappointed here.More

Met friends here for dinner and wasn't disappointed. It's an optional BYO (bring your own) and our friends had already brought the wine so we were able to order quickly. Great choice on menu plus specials including vegan option. Service was good but it was...our friends regular haunt so were treated well anyway. Our friends paid for us so no idea how much the bill was so no idea if value for money but a most pleasant experience.More

I from travelling the world trying many different steaks you won’t get that much better than ‘The Olive Tree’ especially for value for your money! The quality of steaks in this restaurant are second to none , I love the fact you can see your...steak in the kitchen before you order it and see the difference cuts of meat! I have been here in multiple occasions over many years and the standard and service of my whole dining experience has always been top notch ! The house red wine is also a personal favourite of mine ! I always look forward to coming back here and would recommend anyone in the area to try this hidden gem !More

On a night that was meant to be cold I thought some good Italian food would warm us up. It wasn’t as cold and wet as expected but we are so glad we went. On a Wednesday night the place was very busy and you...could tell there are lots of regular customers - always a good sign. From the specials menu I chose the Capretto, one of our friends chose the chicken and my wife and our other friend chose pasta dishes. The serves are generous, my goat flaked off the bone and was served with a good selection of vegetables. A bottle of Tasmanian Sauv Blanc and dinner was done and all for <$150. Seriously good value. Staff were attentive but when the place filled you could tell they were stretched. An excellent dinner folksMore

As an entree I opted for the fried calaimari, which were nothing short of outstanding. Followed by a Veal Parmagiana =D Both were soft and tender like cotton wool... Very very nice to say the least :-) Thank you for a great meal ;)

We ate here in November and the food was amazing. The rack of lamb was fantastic, can't remember what else we had but it was all delicious and would highly recomend a visit to this restaurant just outside the city center. The gentleman who served...us was very chatty and friendly. Don't miss out.More
