Top notch! Such a good ambience - it just feels like you're in Italy. Warm and friendly. The menu is superb. Good offerings on specials and some quality regulars - what I really liked is the menu has plenty of choice without bombarding you with...More

This restaurant has a real buzz and goes from coffee and pastries in the morning through to classic Italian favourites for lunch and dinner. The entrance is down a lane so don't be confused by the Collins St address. Never disappointed and I have been...More

As it happens I either eat at exceptional or average restaurants. If average I don't return and I've started also not to review. Fortunately iL Solito Posto is the former. After 20 plus years this place does not disappoint; it is EXCEPTIONAL. At what point...More

This place has atmosphere to match the perfection of the food and wine. The best pasta we have ever had (including many great restaurants in Italy) and amazing flavour. The wine list was extensive and did not disappoint. Excellent service and we will be back...More

We travelled to Melbourne to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday and I suggested we try Il Solito Posto which did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the service very accomodating. The warm ambience also made it a special night for all. A great find.

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air

You could wear a dress. It's Melbourne so feel free to express yourself. This restaurant is fairly casual although lots of people there after work wearing suits and work dresses etc.
Going to rugby, what time last orders taken? ie 10pm ok?

I agree with 111Jenny. It is a great place to take your time and enjoy their attention to detail and great service. However it would always be best to check with the staff there.
