Tours of the Art Deco Manchester Unity building have reopened and we thoroughly enjoyed ours. The knowledgeable guide and staff made the tour a very enjoyable experience and the restored parts of the building are fascinating, especially for design fans. Breakfast was fresh and nicely...presented but not the highlight.More

The 1932 Cafe and Restaurant is at the base of the Manchester Unity Building, which was built in 1932 at the height of the Great Depression. The Cafe is in Art Deco style, it is a fine place for morning tea. The staff are helpful...and the menu is welcoming.More

I went to 1932 for coffee only. Situation is difficult because of Covid but I did not find the place to be cosy and attractive. Coffee was all right.

During our short stay in Melbourne we had breakfast at this place. The food is very good and the location in the beautiful Manchester Unity Building is great.

Nothing special to be honest. Didn’t find it especially artsy, or the staff especially kind. The menu was pretty standard and the prices were quite high for what I got. Ordering a salad, smoked salmon and a hash brown. It was just that, which is...fine. Except the hash brown looked and tasted like a frozen one, which as a carbohydrate lover, was quite disappointing as really, that’s why I ordered the dish. Although the dill mayonnaise was pretty great. Was still a nice place to sit and eat in the city. A little away from the hustle and bustle. Just don’t think I’ll be back for more.More

Very good cafe in a beautiful Art Deco building definitely worth a detour to experience. Coffee was very good making this a good choice for coffee and cake in a historic setting.

Does a nice breakfast, and certainly seems popular. Tea wasn't the best though, however a nice place for a meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious lunch at the 1932 Cafe and loved the tour of this stunning building. We have always lived in Melbourne and had no idea that this treasure holds and reflects so much of our city's history. As a huge Art Deco...fan I was in awe of the architecture and features as well as the amazing engineering feats that were achieved back in 1932!. Highly recommend this experience.More

The 1932 Cafe & Restaurant is on the ground floor of the Manchester Unity building, one of Australia's premier Art Deco buildings. The Café, which dates from between the wars, serves good coffee and cake. You can sit inside or out. The Cafe has gluten...free options; it also have a full bar. I have been to the 1932 Cafe molre than once and I have always enjoyed it.More

Hi Lyn! We start on the ground floor arcade and take the escalator up to level 1. We then use the lifts up to the boardroom and rooftop for the remainder of the tour. We aren't aware of any other dining and tour... More
