Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I used to go to Don Don as a student all the time when it was located on Swanston St, and to this day, it is still the best sukiyaki beef I have come across in Melbourne. It is no where near as cheap as it used to be, but still reasonable value. The service is just as fast, but not as friendly as it used to be (and I vaguely wonder if it is because they have employed staff who aren't Japanese). Definitely worth the visit for the authentic food, but the atmosphere isn't what it used to be.

Been visiting Melbourne a lot these last 5 years and have always been on the look out for a place like this. 1st class food. Cheap. Quick. Happy. It ticks all the boxes and I will be back and back and back in the future.

My partner ordered a Pork katsu don for me. I was served the pork katsu curry Don and took it back to exchange for the katsu don. They refused to swap the meal on the grounds that they already had made the meal and suggested that I order another meal. Not coming back here again anytime soon.

I went to Don Don on Francis st today for lunch with friends (12.6.2020). I heard and saw a middle-age spread Asian man in the kitchen kept yelling and scolding or even harassing employees. It was such a small place so all the customers could hear what they were talking about. I was so excited to get lunch from there until I witnessed that. The way he treated employees was so disgusting to see it and he was not professional AT ALL. I will never come back there to get food. I’m hoping DonDon will promptly figure the problem out because no customer wants to see such a thing when they’re having food. THANK YOU.

Price? Hm.. ok. Not bed. Quality? Good but not as a restaurant quality. As a girlfriend's one. Service??????? Very bed. I asked about manu. It was simple one. Asked what is the name on the picture. But say "7". That is a number, not a name. And when I take away it, I asked bag. And she throw to me the bag say nothing.

The cheapest lunch in town I reckon. Fabulous Japanese with a glass of wine around $10. Delicious. Good choice of dishes. Very large servings - one don is almost enough for two. Service is friendly and very fast. Seating crowded but perfect really. You might have to stand for a minute or two but it’s worth the wait.

Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
